We’re workin’ away on Kev’s office/our guest bedroom this week, but I thought I’d share a quick post about the window treatments we’re using in the room. We bought some blinds (on sale at Home Depot) several months ago and we were finally able to install them this past weekend…

We dug out an old curtain rod (from Walmart) that had been living in a messy closet for the past couple of years, and popped that bad boy up there, too…

The curtains came from Ikea (Lenda – $19.99/pair) and it’s crazy how much they instantly softened up the room! I’ll be back soon with a post about the light fixtures we’re using in the room. Those suckers instantly made it feel less like a construction zone, and more like an actual bedroom/office, too!

Little by little, bit by bit…

Love the window treatments!! I’m so excited to see the big reveal!! Loving the sneak peek and that red door! 🙂
Thanks, Tonya! 😀
Love love love:) We just redid a room for my hubs (turned it into his office..) and hung up some bamboo shades too. I love the look! So classic 😉
Looking great! Love the curtains and the light! 🙂
I’ve loved watching every step of this room. It looks great!
Oh, and I have those curtains too! Looking at two sets from where I sit. One in my living room and the other in my dining room. Great deal.
Ack! It’s all so simple but it looks so good! Why why why??? Just kidding. I absolutely love it all.
Wow! I think I need to use that red color on a barn door I’m going to be making for my master bath. Love!!!
oh, I love those, I bought a bunch when they were on sale too!!!! only a few more to go!!! great deal on the curtains!
Definitely a work in progress…Looks like it’s coming along.
The room is looking great! I will be moving in the next few weeks and will probably be using your site for reference A LOT when designing my house! I love your site!

Looks perfect! I still love that red door the best 🙂 I’m going to paint something red soon. I don’t know what, but something soon 🙂
Your guest room is looking amazing! You two are such hard workers!
Wow!! Love those red doors, cant wait to see the room when it’s finished, y’all have done such an amazing job. 🙂
LOVE the window treatments! I’m looking for some woven shades like that for my boy’s room. And love those curtains! Do you know the lengths they come in? I’ve got 10′ ceilings in my kitchen area, but the price would be AWESOME for all the windows I have!
so you hung the blinds inside the windows? we will be hanging curtains soon and i want this look but don’t know how to hang them above the windows. my windows are also next to a wall which creates a problem! yours looks great!
Love the blinds…your home is such a great inspiration!!!! XO, Aimee
Everything is looking great! Love those closets with the red doors.
Those are the exact Roman shades that I have. I love them! Love that they really are “private”. Even at night with the light on in the room, nobody can see in if the shades are closed.
I love that about them too Kristi! 🙂
I am SO excited to see this room to come together! (Well, I bet you’re MORE excited but still!) 🙂
I see a bed in theeeeeere!………..
One by one ;o)
Its looking fantastical!
Cathy
I can hardly wait to see the whole room done. It looks amazing!
Looking great! I love the Lenda curtains. Have some extra long ones for 10 foot ceilings. Love how they include the iron on hemming tape with the panels. Mine are tab top though. Do they make them in two styles or did you remove the tabs? I need more panels…..best deal around! Love the look with blinds and curtains.
I cut the tabs off! 🙂
you know, I would never have thought of that – bless you for thinking outside the box!!!
Genius! I can’t believe I never thought to just cut off the tabs of my curtains. haha I’m definitely stealing this look for our master bedroom as we start fixing that up. When we got this place it had plastic vertical blinds – they’re AWFUL!
Thumbs up! Did you purposely create that alcove above the door to utilize extra space or was it existing?
Hey Marsha!
Here’s a link to the post we did about the closets:

Forgot to ask-are you throwing some blue into the room, or is that too expected?
Yep! Blue is one of our favorite colors! 😀
I love the shades and the curtains! I have those same curtains in my bedroom, and I just installed bamboo shades in my bathroom last night. Love them both!
I love how it’s turning out! I can’t wait to see the whole after shot when everything’s done! I’m curious, did you think about doing the same treatment as you eventually did in the living room to make the windows look taller and also let in a little more light? If so, why did you decide not to go that route? I’m trying to figure out my bedroom windows situation, and your house is what I think of as inspiration for that and then some!
Hey Susana!
I didn’t do it in here because there wasn’t as much room between the top of the window frame and the bottom of the crown molding, and this is the brightest room in the house. (And the on-sale blinds we used were inside mount only!) 🙂
Loving the window treatments!
LOVE IT…do you want to come over to my house and give me some pointers? Seriously, I’m just across town. I sure could use your expertise! You and Kevin are hard workers and yet make it look so effortless when it all comes together! You guys rock!
Let me know if you are up for another challenge! 😉
Sandra
i love a good window treatment. such a big statement for something that seems so insignificant!
Thanks for your inspiration once again!
Love the bamboo shades! We’re going with those in Joey’s office, when it finally gets a face-lift.
Can’t wait to see the finished product.
I cannot wait to see the full reveal!
I am really enjoying the room updates!! I’m also so glad to learn about the shades. I read in the comments that they are private. I’ve never seen any that are…except if they have liners.
xo
That narrow tall door in red is adorable!! Janell
Thank you, Janell! 🙂
This room is turning out amazingly and I canNOT wait to see it all when you guys are done!
I can’t wait to see it done, too, Celeste! 😀
Love the blinds and drapes combination! Thinking of something similar for my family room, so it’s awesome to see how yours look. 🙂
Rock on!
xo Heidi
Thanks, Heidi! 🙂
Adding those bits of softness and natural colour and texture really makes such a big difference in the room. Fantastic choices, and so affordable for anyone to do. Great job!
Oooh! I love it!! Can’t wait to see more!
layla, my husbie wants a moderate amount of privacy and light control in our bedroom. would these roman shades fit the bill? we still have paper shades up – almost 5 years running now!
Perfect combination! Looking good!
XO
Kristin
Hi,
So nice evolution! I want the same room…
You should post some pictures of the inside of the closets I really would like to see how it looks like!
Can’t wait to see the whole room done!
Love the HD Providence blinds! We have the exact same ones in our bedroom, guest bedroom, and office. They filter the light nicely without totally blacking out the room.
Really enjoying seeing the room come together so nicely. You guys purely ROCK!

Jennifer
Lovely!
You’re such a tease. Can’t wait to see more!
It’s coming along beautifully, Layla! I can’t wait to see how it looks with furniture! The window treatments are just lovely!
Really love seeing the room come together. Funny how a person can look forward to a room being finished when it isn’t even theirs. lol. Your the one blog i absolutely follow. okay, YOUR not the blog i follow,..you know what i mean. 🙂
thanks for sharing your blinds source. for almost a year i have been looking for bamboo blinds but the ones in store are always way too light filtering (and i’m too cheap/lazy to add the privacy liners). i’m going to order a couple of these from hd to see how they work! seriously, thank you!!!
p.s. the room is fantastic! i love the cubies and red doors!
I looked through the pictures of this office project and I love it! You guys have made such great progress and it’s gorgeous!
Thanks, Ashley! 😀
Love the window treatments! We have the exact same shades on a pair of french doors that lead to our back patio! I’m trying to get my hubby to get rid of all those yucko white faux wood blinds we put in the bedrooms when we built this place…still working on that one! LOL Can’t wait to see the room reveal!
Ive been waiting for an update! Love what you did with the windows and so Impressed that you can just pull stuff out of closets and make it look like a million bucks!
I’ve been searching high and low for curtains like this for my bedroom and living room! Both rooms need a little ‘something’, just as you say, to soften up the windows, I wanted light, airy and CHEAP! Thank you, I’m running over to my local IKEA this weekend to grab!
