This Tool Rocks (Swift Driver by Master Mechanic)

Jul 13, 2012 By Layla

Remember those window treatments I blogged about the other day?

Well, part of our 2012 DIY Blog Squad duties involved trying out a new tool from True Value, and since we used it to put those window blinds up, I thought this would be a good time to blog about it. It’s called the Swift Driver, and it’s made by Master Mechanic…

We recorded a little video to show how much easier it made the un-fun task of hanging blinds…

Pretty handy dandy, eh?

To be honest, when we first got it, we were sort of thinking it was just going to be one more unused tool in our already jam-packed, mess of a tool room. But we’ve used it several times since the day we hung the blinds, and we’re thinking we can probably just get rid of the 8 million regular screwdrivers we have laying around because this thing works so much better than they do.

Which gives me an idea. (Literally just hit my brain as I am typing this.)

Kev! Let’s give away a couple of Swift Drivers! (I just yelled that to him from my desk.)

(He just responded, “Okay!”)

So- if you’d like to enter for a chance to win one, just leave us a comment on this post (if you’re reading this in an email, you’ll have to click over to our blog to leave a comment) between now and Monday, July 16th (9am CST) and we’ll randomly select a couple of winners sometime after that. Good luck!

This post is part of our 2012 True Value DIY Blog Squad series.

I’d love to add this to my own stash of tools. I’ve grown tired of riffling thru my husband’s disorganized toolbox & have resorted to having a separate toolbox all my own. It’s bare bones minimum. I think this multipurpose item would fit right in—if not completely complete it!

Maybe my husband will be more understanding of the time I spend reading blogs if I win this nifty tool for him! By the way, can you tell me where you got the curtain rod in your photo? I’m heading to Home Depot today to look at their blinds — yours looks very nice.

OOH! A new goody to play with! LOL! We’ve got a long TO-DO list and this would help with checking some of those items off of it!
Also, just wanted to say, we will be in your neck of the woods next weekend! Going to a family reunion on the husband’s mother’s side of the family. We’ll be in Millbrook. (Staying in Montgomery). So, I’ll be sure to wave HI! ROFL!

Thanks for telling us about the Swift Driver! I would love to win one of these. I have arthritis and other problems with my wrists and hands, making it difficult to use a regular screwdriver. This would make things so much easier. Thank you for the chance to win one!

Would LOVE to have one of those SWIFT DRIVERS! Oh yes!

  37. Debby

    Jul 14, 2012 at 9:31 am

This screwdriver is just the tool I need. I’m getting older and something like this will make driving screws so much easier for me. I feel unsafe sometimes trying to manuever in tight places and this tool seems to provide a safer means to getting there. I also like the action of turning which will put less stress on my wrists. I enjoy your blog.

    Jul 14, 2012 at 9:35 am

Actually, I am preparing to install curtain rods and just bought (!) a small screwdriver/driver combo which, it turns out, doesn’t have enough power to drill through the plaster wall. So hearing about the swift driver caught my eye. Put my name in the hat! Thanks….

I would LOVE to have one of these. My husband is always complaining about new tools like these, how they don’t work, they’ll break, so we’re always using his old tools that of course are laying everywhere in the garage and you can never find the right one. This would be so handy to keep inside and grab and use whenever I need it.
