This Tool Rocks (Swift Driver by Master Mechanic)

Jul 13, 2012 By Layla

Remember those window treatments I blogged about the other day?

Well, part of our 2012 DIY Blog Squad duties involved trying out a new tool from True Value, and since we used it to put those window blinds up, I thought this would be a good time to blog about it. It’s called the Swift Driver, and it’s made by Master Mechanic…

We recorded a little video to show how much easier it made the un-fun task of hanging blinds…

Pretty handy dandy, eh?

To be honest, when we first got it, we were sort of thinking it was just going to be one more unused tool in our already jam-packed, mess of a tool room. But we’ve used it several times since the day we hung the blinds, and we’re thinking we can probably just get rid of the 8 million regular screwdrivers we have laying around because this thing works so much better than they do.

Which gives me an idea. (Literally just hit my brain as I am typing this.)

Kev! Let’s give away a couple of Swift Drivers! (I just yelled that to him from my desk.)

(He just responded, “Okay!”)

So- if you’d like to enter for a chance to win one, just leave us a comment on this post (if you’re reading this in an email, you’ll have to click over to our blog to leave a comment) between now and Monday, July 16th (9am CST) and we’ll randomly select a couple of winners sometime after that. Good luck!

I’d love to be included in the drawing. Since finding photos from The Lettered Cottege on Pinterest, I’ve been inspired by the crisp, fresh white cottage-y look to try to tackle some room re-do’s. My hubby isn’t quite on the same page as me as far as all this paint & decor that I have planned ~ but he loves him some power tools, so if I won this for him, I think he’d be inspired to help me. 🙂

I could totally use one of those!! Got lots of goodies to hang in my freshly painted dining room and a guest room revamp on the horizon. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway, Layla!

    Jul 13, 2012 at 7:21 pm

Hot dang! I like it! Seriously will need to look into that. I hate those angles when you just can’t quite get in there. Often that’s the time I have to usher the little one out of the room so the “noise” coming from hubby doesn’t get picked up by the “repeater”. 🙂

This would give me a good excuse to get the Mr. finishing so many projects that are at a standstill around here. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!

dang..I’d love to have one of those gadgets..
instead of my DIY girlie toolset (A high heeled shoe and a butter knife)
seriously.. i need a reliable GOOD screwdriver!!
    make me the WINNER!
    hugs..

OH MY GOSH!! I didn’t even know something like that existed. I’ve hung curtains and blinds several times over the past two days. And I NEED that tool. I’d love to win one! I’ve got much more curtain and blind hanging to do. 🙂 Thank you!!

I’d love to have one of these. I have bought ratcheting screwdrivers in the past, but they always break. I have way too many screwdrivers and screwdriver tips. It would be nice to get rid of them.

Love this….my drill battery never seems to be charged. This would be much easier for when you don’t need a lot of heft. Pick me!!

My Hubby just today was putting up a shelf for me with an awkward hard to get at angle and this tool would have been perfect for him. We would love one! True Value rocks!

I would love to get rid of the 342 screw drivers in our tool closet! We just bought and moved into a 1928 est. beach cottage. It has a Model T garage! 🙂 I could hang some curtains and blinds…

  34. Lisa Porter

    Jul 13, 2012 at 7:35 pm

Well isn’t that the coolest thing! Really – the turning either way to put a screw in or take it out has got to be easier on the old wrist. The angle thingy really hung in there when he was cranking down on that screw too!
I’ve got 4 of those exact blinds left to hang so I know ALLL about those brackets.
Thank you Kevin for another great demo and thank you Layla for thinking about us….pssst….he is the cutest fellow…but you already know that. 😉
One more thing….do y’all have a new button that I need to replace over at TLPC?

I could sure use that tool. Nice for a couple of screws instead of getting out the drill, which doesn’t always fit anyways.

Oh what a neat tool!! I am always the one usually to hang blinds, curtains, etc.. as it’s not my husband’s favorite thing to do. I’d love to use this to help make the job a lot easier for me!!
