Calling All E-Friends

May 5, 2011 By Layla

Greetings!

We have some exciting news to share today!  We’ve been working on something “design TV-related” for a while now, and we’re really excited about the direction it’s moving in.
Think:
our blog in 3D…meaning, low-dough/high-smile room redos, real-life DIY adventures, and lots of YOU!

At this point, we need to see if you’d be into A) having us over to help you redo a room or two (or three!), and/or B) helping us redo someone’s elses space(s). (Maybe you’re a mural artist, or a seamstress, or you’d just like to lend a helping hand by painting a wall or working on a craft project with us, etc.)

We also need to know what area you live in. (City/State/Country)  (You can live anywhere, and every comment will be read!)

We hoping to round up as many responses as we can in the next 48 hours, so if you’re interested, and you have time to leave a comment, please do!

We’re working with some super-talented and creative folks and they’re very interested in seeing the response to this post, so please don’t be shy, and thank you so much! We’ll definitely keep you posted and we hope to hug you soon!

PS- We’d also like to invite you to join us on Facebook & Twitter!

(We’re seeking responses on those sites too! Thank You!)

    Yes to it all!
    1. We would love to have you come help with our master bath, our guest bath, our play room or any other room you’d like to get your hands on!
    2. I would love to help with any projects you are doing in my area {seattle, wa}.

Such a fun new project for you two.

First of all, congrats on the TV gig! I knew you would eventurally land something with your talent and your humorous blog and videos.

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PICK ME! I have a couple of rooms that so need a Kevin and Layla touch! Our Bonus Room would be my first choice. We use it for laundry, TV, my son plays video games in it, and my husband practices his guitar in there (with all of his stuff that goes along with it!). We really don’t have any furniture in there right now because I sold our two old leather couches that were way too big for the space. But now, since the room is long and narrow and it’s used for so many things, I can’t decide on what furniture to buy, let alone the placement. I’d be more than happy to help you do whatever it talkes to make the room over!

I live in Paso Robles, CA. We are a somewhat small community that boasts beautiful rolling hillsides with many oak trees. Our town is considered the new Napa with all of our great wineries! We are also about 30 minutes from the coast. I know you two would love it here!! And maybe while you’re here we could get Kevin to play for us at my friend’s restaurant/bar!!

I sure hope you will consider this desperate plea. 🙂

Count me in on the “help me do” fun! My hubs and I live in College Park, MD (DC metro area) and would LOVE help “finishing” some of the rooms in the home we’ve spent the last 3 years renovating.

Can’t wait to hear more about the new project!

We are putting up an off-grid 30-ft. yurt this summer on Anderson Island, WA. It will have 2 bedrooms, a sleeping loft, a kitchen and a living/eating area. We’d looooooove to see some of your magic there. 🙂

This is super exciting! We just moved to Annapolis, Maryland and we have a 1950 Cape Code style house in need of some love…and some paint. And of course, I’ve got some love to give to others’ homes, too!

Hmmmm….. let me think about this….. um, holy freakin cow YES!!!! I’d love to have you come out to West Jordan, Utah!!!! I would DIE if you picked me but I think my mom who lives 10 minutes away in a city called Sandy would die even harder. I could use help in my Master bedroom (or anywhere really) but my mom could use help in any and every room in her house. I LOVE your blog and adore everything I’ve seen you do. Pick me, pick me!!!!

OH.MY.STARS. ::squeals:: Pick me! Pick me! My hubby and I just bought a beautiful home in January that has huge chunky baseboards, plantation shutters, hand scraped hardwood floors and yummy soaring 15 foot ceilings… and I’m at a loss on how to decorate my HUGE formal dining room in the “rustic chic” look that you have mastered. I DIY’ed some board & batten on the focal wall, and now the walls above it sit bare. I just don’t know where to go from here. It’s the first room that you see when you walk in the house, so I want it to be impressive. The pressure has paralyzed my decorating bones! HELP! We are in Frisco, TX (30 min North of Dallas) Thanks, April & Brian

OMG! I would LOVE to have you guys come over a do a room (or a few) I LOVE your clean costal-cottage style. We live on a lake in Western Washington and could use all the help you are willing to give! I am also totally down with helping on any kind of project! I love you guys ( and kinda feel like I know ya’ I’ve following your blog for so long!) Good Luck you two! Oh…and come by any time, we’ll have a BBQ on the lake!

    May 6, 2011 at 1:31 pm

We definetely could use your help! We live in a mid-century brick ranch with no landscaping (because we ripped it out to do something better, but have yet to do that!) We have holes and staples in our hardwoods from where we ripped up nasty burgandy carpeting. Our house is somewhat small, just over 1200 square feet and we desperately need storage solutions! Please come to the Durham, North Carolina area! AND I’m more than willing to paint walls or do whatever else to help you on other projects!

    May 6, 2011 at 1:32 pm

You guys are welcome to our house anytime. Your design style has already inspired me to redo my family room. I white washed my first wall!! I tried to send you some pictures a while back but I could not figure out how to upload them onto your blog. Please come!! I live in Charleston, SC so you would fit RIGHT IN!!! I would be happy to cook up some shrimp and grits too while you are here. My husband and I are pretty handy but not by any means are we professionals. I dapple in painting a little too. I have put basic murals on walls before. Thinking of painting out the top cabinets in my kitchen with a beach scene. I just need to figure out the color combination. OH! I so hope you pick us!!!!!

That would be so awesome!! We have 2 bathrooms and a nursery that we’re working on. We’d love to get the baths done before September when this little one is due. It’s going to be close, but I have access to really good tile prices. The nursery has been a bit tougher to plan for me. We live in St. Louis, MO. The Midwest could use some TLC!

Oh my gosh – inside, outside take your pick of things to do!!! We have lived in our home for 5 years and have been trying to make our home feel like “us” on a budget but there is so much to do!

Also, if you are trying to get some projects close to one another we are in Huntingtown, MD and are within 45 min -1 hr from the all Baltimore, Silver Spring and Annapolis folks that responded.

P.S. My husband loves home improvement projects, has tools and can help out after work. The only skills he islacking would be plumbing and major electric.

    Congratulations!!!

My hubby and I are no strangers to home improvement. We love DIY!! It would be such an unbelievable honor to have you guys come to Anderson, SC and the four of us roll up our sleeves together for some good ol’ home improvement–in our house or for someone else!

Owner of a historic brick home in central Wisconsin. Our home was built in 1901 as a single family, 3 story home by one of our towns founding fathers. Hard times hit in the 30’s causing it to be converted into efficiency apartments. We bought and restored to a single family home in 1986. We are ready for some fixing and redoing. Our kitchen needs appliance upgrades and better traffic flow. While we have the funds to do this we don’t have the ideas. Help!!! Our home features some incredibly beautiful woodwork, including pocket doors and crown molding.

Please put me on the list! We live in Keller, which is the northern part of Fort Worth in Texas. There are lots of antique malls around, a great architectural salvage store in the historic downtown area, and let’s not forget First Monday Trade Days in Canton, which is only 1 1/2 hours away!

    Hello there!
I am a school social worker/purse designer living in Chicago. I am having much fun making my vintage condo feel like my own. I was recently featured on Apartment Therapy (http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/house-tours/kerrys-collections-house-call-136998), which was a huge thrill!

My request would be assistance with creating a new table for my kitchen/dining room. I would love to re-purpose a cool old door (or something similar) into a killer new table. Maybe something taller, so that I would need stools instead of chairs…. in any event, I know you are the team to do it! Thank you for considering me- Kerry John

I would love option A. My husband and I bought an old farmhouse and farm that has been in my family for over 100 years. We have slowly been remodeling it when time/money allows. We still have so much left to do. I love your style and any help would be greatly appreciated. We live in Elkland, Missouri.

Absolutely, totally!! I live in the Raleigh, NC area right now but will be moving
to central Florida when our house sells.
I’m not particularly talented in any area but I’m a hard worker so I’d be up
to helping as well as receiving.
    Thanks.

You can come work some design magic in my home any day.
Ten years of living in a “builder grade khaki paradise” is long enough!
You’d have fun with my big green tractor. I mean sectional sofa.
We can build the heck out of fences and sheds, just don’t ask us to pick out a paint color.
You wouldn’t even have to pack a bag to do this job – we live in Millbrook.

Yes, yes, a thousand times YES! We live on the coast of Maine, so our design vibe is a lot like yours: casual, coastal, fresh, breezy and a little bit hip. We have two small kids, so the chaos level is high, but so is the fun. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your taste, and could really use your help in a couple of rooms in our house: kitchen, living room, playroom! I know we’re not nearby – but Maine is stunning in the summer, and we could make it worth the trip!

I should add that I’m a former TV news anchor (not nearly as pretty as Layla, though!)and my husband is a current TV News producer, so we get (and love) the whole TV thing. It would be a blast to do something creative!

It would be so much fun to have you go to town on our boring little ranch house. We are slowly trying to impose some character on this place! I would love to just be a part of pitching in on somebody else’s project too. I majored in art and pretty much if it’s related to art, I’ve had a hand in it. Design, color, painting (both walls and fine art), sewing, etc. Pretty good at organizing. Designed some furniture. Pretty much jack of all trades (master of none). We are in central Michigan.

Would love to have help decorating a long, somewhat narrow guest room. I live in a tiny, two-bedroom house in a darling neighborhood in Marietta, Georgia, about 26 miles from downtown Atlanta. I am a pastel artist (I call myself that) and have my own art in my house. I would consider it an honor to help in an artistic way (I have painted murals in local schools, hospitals and homes) if you need my help. Would love YOUR artistic help myself!

I would love love love for you to re-do my whole house! I would watch ALL your shows for your creative, beautiful affordable DIY designs. I live in Northern California, but call Alaska Home. I have three crazy boys under age 10 and am always looking for new ideas.

Sounds Great! My husband and I just moved into a 60’s ranch in Powder Springs, GA and would love your help! It’s on beautiful property; however the inside is lovingly referred to as “the cave”. We have started to brighten by painting paneling and the likes, but we could use your help really turning on the lights. The next room I plan to tackle is the kitchen, but it would be more fun if I had your help removing the two layers of wallpaper and painting the paint grade wood that is currently stained for our kitchen cabinets! Then onto the family room, and yes…more wallpaper!

Hubbs and I are in Warr Acres, Oklahoma! We would love help on some room redo stuff! Our 1950’s Ranch style home needs some love! And/or we would be more than happy to pick up a paintbrush or two help with others! 🙂
