Calling All E-Friends

May 5, 2011 By Layla

Greetings!

We have some exciting news to share today!  We’ve been working on something “design TV-related” for a while now, and we’re really excited about the direction it’s moving in.
Think:
our blog in 3D…meaning, low-dough/high-smile room redos, real-life DIY adventures, and lots of YOU!

At this point, we need to see if you’d be into A) having us over to help you redo a room or two (or three!), and/or B) helping us redo someone’s elses space(s). (Maybe you’re a mural artist, or a seamstress, or you’d just like to lend a helping hand by painting a wall or working on a craft project with us, etc.)

We also need to know what area you live in. (City/State/Country)  (You can live anywhere, and every comment will be read!)

We hoping to round up as many responses as we can in the next 48 hours, so if you’re interested, and you have time to leave a comment, please do!

We’re working with some super-talented and creative folks and they’re very interested in seeing the response to this post, so please don’t be shy, and thank you so much! We’ll definitely keep you posted and we hope to hug you soon!

PS- We’d also like to invite you to join us on Facebook & Twitter!

(We’re seeking responses on those sites too! Thank You!)

I love you stuff. We have a room in our house that is just so weirdly layed out…would love a redo on that space. We also have a shed in our backyard, that we’d love to turn into a game room. It has power…just needs to be tackled. Oh pretty please….come to me!!! I’m in Roseville, CA.

My daughter lives in Birmingham, AL and she needs help with a ranch style home that is so cute but in need of some TLC from The Lettered Cottage-fantastic duo. She has great intentions but needs your help desperately. I follow your blog dailly. Please help?

Wow! I would love to be a part of that! And the good news is, I live in the south! West Monroe, LA to be exact. We have a starter home as well (you can see some pics on my blog) and I think the kitchen and living room need the most help. I vary wildly in my style choices, some are modern, some are really country, and I love patterns and fabrics (but I am so afraid to use them). I guess I’m eclectic, but I’m not quite all out Anthropologie-ish. I like browns, grays, whites, with pops of color. I redo my house every weekend! I really want to put a chair rail in the living room and bring in some rustic touches because right now it is just too contemporary, and the kitchen is a bit too country….then need to level out more! So I guess what I’m saying is, I would love your help!

I think it would be WONDERFUL if you came out to Carson City, Nevada, USA. We are only a half hour from scenic Lake Tahoe! We are in our first home, after 20 years of marriage, and I want to redo most every room. We’re on a tight budget. I can sew just about anything and am willing to help in anyway possible. We basically have 4 adults in the house, my husband, myself, and our two teenage children. We’re hard workers and love challenges. We’d love help in our home and/or anyone else’s. The West is a great place, with a wonderul laid back attitude. Our community is very small town and community oriented. Great history here!!

Hi, my mom lives in a gorgeous victorian home in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. She recently emptied a room that hasn’t been decorated since the early 60s. It has all kinds of potential and gorgeous Victorian bits around and everything is painted the most horrendous shade of green with pink flowered wallpaper. We’d love to have you take a look any time you like!

Come to my house! My husband and I purchased it 4 years ago, it was straight out of 1984. We have done SO much work to the house the the design elements have much to be desired. Any room in our home has potential to be redone! We love this house, location and killer views, I just need some help making it our own. Come out to Colorado Springs, Colorado!

We’re in Clayton, NC, about 45 minutes outside of Raleigh. My husband and I bought a very modest sized ranch in a new cookie cutter subdivision about eighteen months ago. Although we love our home, we want to set it apart from the other almost identical homes both inside and outside.

I’m also nominating my neighbor who is a recent widow and she dreams of fixing up her home but it’s difficult on a senior’s limited income.

Oh, please, please, please pick us!

What a great opportunity to travel, my home is located in Richmond, Texas. I bought a foreclosure and have so many projects that it is overwhelming! I have two teenage daughters and would love them to have a grown up room! The kitchen, what can I say, “Are we still in the 70’s?”. What about the bathroom, just flush my troubles down the drain! Block paneling, ready to be painted to bring it some life? The lack of a backyard, but one very cute play house that could use some TLC. There are so many projects, just pick your poison….If you guys want to do a total redo in a suburb outside of Houston, I have your house! Good luck and I can’t wait to see the next chapter!

Woo hoo! What an opportunity for some lucky people! We are in Rockville, Maryland – just 45 minutes out of DC. I could definitely use help on a few rooms – turning our guest bedroom into a bedroom for one of our twins, redoing our basement for the three kids – it is very dark and dingy!, or making our main living space – a family room and playroom – flow better. I can’t wait to see what you all do and who you work iwth!!!

As I posted on FB: You could create a MIRACLE in Franklin, WI (suburb of Milwaukee.) Our poor living room has been taken over by our toddler, and hasn’t seen new (or even like new!) furniture in over ten years. We don’t know which end of a hammer to pick up, we could REALLY use your help! PLEASE!!! WI is a very friendly state, Franklinites included!

Hey Layla and Kevin! I have a 700 square foot daylight basement that has had very little updating since it was built in 1976: A family room (that I’ve been slowly low-dough working on), a tiny but, charming craft room, a bedroom (slightly unfinished and UG-LY) and a laundry room. I would especially appreciate you redo-ing the family room and bedroom!! Alternately, you could do my combo kitchen/dining room!! WAnting to lighten and brighten things up a bit there, too! Come on out to the Beautiful Northwest! Richland, Washington…it’s gorgeous here!!

Oh WOW…that would be so awesome if you could help redo several rooms at our someday retirement home (right now our it’s our lake house). It’s a modest little house that we have such big visions for to make it our comfy cottage! We have gradually been redoing necessary things like the roof, the siding, appliances, closing in a car port to make a sun room, etc. but haven’t gotten to the inside yet. I love love love your style and I would be thrilled to have you put your wonderful touch on our home. We live in the Dallas, TX metroplex (north). Our lake house is just an hour from there. I also love to repurpose flea market and garage sale finds and would love to help in that area if you are ever close to Dallas. There is an awesome flea market an hour away called Canton Third Monday Trade Days and we also have some wonderful antique shops in my home town. Would be happy to show you around if you are in the area. Best of luck with your new adventure!

Am I dreaming? I would love your help and direction! “Home” is Jupiter, FLorida, where I would love some help in making some changes to my family room. (What was I thinking? I must have been going thru my ‘dark period’ when I chose what I did for this room in sunny south Florida!) We also have a vacation home in Rehoboth Beach Delaware that we rent out during the summer and use when we can in the off season spring and fall. We just did a re-do of the main living area, but the bedrooms need to be redone on a budget next. SO! if you LOVE the beach as much as you say you do, pick ME! Our house in Jupiter is about 4 miles to the beach and the house in Rehoboth Beach is 2 and a half blocks! PICK ME PLEASE!

Hi Layla! My husband and I live in Birmingham, AL and just closed on our first house! It’s definitely a fixer-upper, but has so much cottage-y potential. I adore your style and I am constantly checking your blog for inspiration and tips. I would be thrilled if you and Kevin would be able to help us out with a room, or two, particularly a master bedroom/bathroom/closet that is going to be a challenge – complete with a red, jetted spa tub!

I live in East Texas, Como, Texas to be exact and would love for you to do anything you wanted to our house. It is pretty much original 1970 Kitchen, 2 bedroom one bath ranch type house that has been enlarged by closing in the carport and adding a garage, then closing in the garage. I love the reuse repurpose theory. Plus you would have lots of furry love while you were here, I have 13 dogs and 21 cats, no they dont all live in the house we have lots of land for them to roam.

Hello! My husband and I live in Green Bay, WI. We got married and bought a small house about a year ago. Would LOVE help turning a spare bedroom into a baby room and making a couple updates to the kitchen. We’d also be interested in finishing the basement on a semi-cheap budget. 🙂 I’m a K-8 ESL teacher and my husband works for an energy efficiency company. Please come visit us!!

I recently moved into my boyfriend’s bachelor pad and would absolutely LOVE to have your help in making this house a HOME for us. Every room of our little 3-bedroom rambler is up for a makeover! He is a general contractor himself (flooring/tile specialty) and I am always happy to help out when I can. We live just outside of Seattle, WA.

    Hey there,
Come on to New England Massachusetts. I see you have alot of East Coasters writing so come on over and go from state to state and see the history that goes on here. We live right near Boston Mass and a short ride to Cape Cod.
My husband is a pastor and we are a homeschool family of over 20 years. Our church is small and so is our house, but I still have women/daughters meetings, men’s prayer, and other gatherings at my house. I would love my little 1900 country home to have a couple walls knocked down and walls repaired along with old carpet ripped up. Oh what a dream to have my house opened up more to have people over and fellowship. The recession has caused us a financial hardship and we can’t do anything to the house. Would love if you thought about us!
    Thank you,
    Blessings,
    Crystal

That is awesome info! Once I started reading through your exciting news I literally got goose bumps! Especially when you mentioned the location could be anywhere! Could these room makeovers really happen to us?? A family of 6 who just lives in little ole’ Oak Harbor, OH in a 4 bedroom home? Well, if anyone could make it happen it would be Layla and Kev ;D We have 4 lovely children… 18,16,13 and 3 1/2. Our 18 yr. old son is using the dining room as a bedroom with a futon, our 16 yr. old daughter’s room has brown paper for her floor(what was I thinking) and a futon, in our 13 yr. old daughter’s room she sleeps on a love seat which once was the nursery. And our tolddler sleeps in his big brothers old room which has black and kakhi walls along with a diningroom hutch and a roll top desk! Our lives are so busy with work and every day life that we just have no time to work on their spaces. They truely are the ones who need the makeovers…..”a real bedroom”.
    P.S Ikea is only 1hr 30 min. away 😉

    May 6, 2011 at 12:11 pm

    Hi Layla!
I live in a 1949 Cape Cod in Chesapeake Va. I would love help in my “master” bedroom. It seems like the bedroom is the hardest to decorate sometimes, and the fact that its only 10′ by 12′ makes it that much harder! (Did I mention that is our master??!) I think lots of viewers would relate to having a tiny bedroom to decorate! Its currently housing a queen bed, a crate for our chihuahua, and a very awkward IKEA wardrobe. Oh, and a window to nowhere (our sunroom:) I would love to see what you come up with to make this a special place for my husband and I to rest after taking care of our 6 month old (baby, our chihuahua is 3 years old).
    Thanks,
    Amy
