The Lettered Cottage E-zine

May 2, 2011 By Layla

Hi.
We’re Kevin and Layla Palmer. We like to take road trips, and chances, and photos of people’s places.

Late last Summer, we started putting some of our photos together in our own own little e-zine, and we’re so excited to finally release it here on our blog today! It’s short, but sweet, and we really hope you have fun flipping through it!

Click on the cover below to view the full-size, interactive issue in a separate window…

But before you click away! We both wanted to say thanks so much for taking the time to check it out, and for continually inspiring us to jump in our car with our computer and our camera. We appreciate your encouragement, and can’t tell you how much we enjoy exchanging inspiration and ideas with you!

Happy May!

PS- The links in the e-zine are live this time, so as you flip through, you can click on any of the web addresses you see. Also, to the folks have asked about hard copies- if you’re interested in printing out a copy of either of our e-zine (Summer Fun or Screened Inn) there is a print option in the top left hand corner of the screen when you’re viewing the full-size issue. Thanks again!

Layla and Kevin… just breezed through your new e-zine. Beautiful! As a graphic designer, I love when I can see your personality through what you design in print. Can’t wait till I get home from work and can read it cover to cover. Kudos on getting a brief interview with Robert Novgratz!!

Great work you two! So many lovely re-dos and everything looks so fresh.
Even though it is pouring down rain here in NE Ohio (why do I live here? Oh yeah, must be my little granddaughter) and chilly looking through your e-zine gives me hope that there might be a summer day coming along!!

I loved this so much! It was like a Martha Stewart Living with items I can actually afford. By the time I was done reading, I felt like the changes I want to make in our own home are manageable, but without the guilt you get from most magazines. So very relaxing!

What a beautiful e-zine! I loved reading the article by Deborah McCarthy, and I often think about many of the things she mentioned… wondering how many people have woken up in my home over the years, how much they loved it, and how many families will be there after I am gone. I suppose we are all just care takers to history!

Love her article too. Really made me think…and smile!

I sat down with my cup of piping hot tea and had the best hour with Summer Fun.
I get so taken away to another world of beauty and love for decorating and a passion
for doing it all for less.
I use to think I was alone all these years loving to paint and repaint, move & arrange furniture
till I dropped and woke in the night with an idea for a morning redo.
You have both given me so much joy in following your blog, your life and now your magazines.
I am so loving each page and would love a giant size one like the Coastal Living a get.
You are destined to have your own copy in Barns and Noble one day soon.
    Many Thank You’s. geri.

I also love the cabinet makeovers. Now if only the landlord would let us do it! Sorry to throw this in, but since I know hundreds of people will be reading your e-zine, i have to let you know that there is a typo on page 25. “Your” should be “You’re.”

    Layla!
Your e-zines are always such a treat. SO beautiful! I loved the content & was happy to see Maria (Dreamy Whites) in there! How awesome is that, “Cat’s are just tiny woman…” sign. Ha! So true. I read your most recent post too but will comment here. That conch shell border is such a clever idea and those night shots are just as dreamy as the daylight ones.

Oh, this is awesome. I live in Atlanta and have a daughter attending SCAD in Savannah. We have stayed on Tybee once in a condo, but now I want to stay in one of the cottages! So cool. Love your photography and the ezine is WONDERFUL. I just subscribed.

I found this quite by accident and wow! was I surprised when it contained one of my favorite places in the world-Tybee and Savannah! I lived in Atlanta as a nanny for 3 yrs and visited the area probably 12 times during the course. I was even accepted to SCAD and looked at Real Estate in the area. Being a single mom, I wasn’t brave enough to stay so I returned home to Indiana to study art. My fondest, favorite memories of times with my young son are from days spent in Chatham county. He is now 19. Thanks so much! I am a subscriber now.

I love your blog and your style and can’t wait to view the e-zine for some inspiration on redoing my home…but, it won’t open for me (screened in won’t either). I can load the page when click on the title but nothing happens…I know you aren’t IT people…but any advice on how I can see it? (I am on a PC running Windows).

    Thanks!

    • Layla

      May 11, 2011 at 9:38 am

      Hey Tracy!
Are you clicking the arrow buttons at the top of the screen so that the pages turn? You can do that, or just click the bottom right corner of each page and they’ll turn that way too.
      🙂
