Kev’s taking a stab at writing the theme song for our pilot episode this week. And although I think my semi-shy guy probably wanted to kick me under the table when I initially (and spontaneously) suggested it at one of our meetings with our production company in Denver, I can tell by his mood that he’s totally in his element and (regardless of whether or not it works out) is having fun with it.
He’s recording, and submitting, two ideas…

Song #1 looks like a face, and sounds like southern rock…

Song #2 looks like a 6.8 on the richter, and sounds like a perfect 10 to me!

Big thanks to our friend Josh for lugging all his recording gear over here yesterday!

And a BIG thanks to our neighbors kids for playing with Kev while their Mom and Dad went to a meeting at school last night, too.

He’s not used to having commercial break jam sessions with people who love to play guitar as much as he does…but I could tell by his mood, he really liked that too.

PS- I told my semi-shy hubby that I was just gonna snap some pics of him recording, but hee hee, I asked him to play me one of my favorite tunes and sneakily captured this little video yesterday too!

awesome! forget pandora … you get live music! 🙂
Y’all are so cute:)
Awesome Post!!! My husband plays guitar too and I LOVE it when he plays at home. By the way, Sweet Home Alabama is my all time favorite song! As a matter of fact, it is my ringtone. The only problem with that is, I sometimes listen to the ring too long and I miss the call! Lol! Also, I saw your black screen door. Love it! Is that between rooms, or between a porch and a room? I keep mine in storage for the day I might find a place to use it.
So sweet. I love how he kept shyly looking up in your direction. So much love!
So sweet!!!
I just love the picture of Kevin & the little boy! so sweet! and y’all are seriously one of the cutest couples ever! love it!! 🙂
You guys always make me smile 🙂
Aww! I love it! Kev is real talented. I can’t wait to hear what he comes up with as the theme song. The southern rock one sounds fun!
Thanks! 🙂
I hope one of Kevin’s songs is chosen for the show. I love all the little details about the pilot, like new shoes and songs. Can’t wait to see the pilot!
Again, you two are the cutest couple. Can’t wait to hear the song he comes up with.
I love this post, Layla! What a cool opportunity for Kevin–I hope it works out.
Isn’t it amazing to watch someone you love make music? My oldest son is a guitarist. Watching him play brings me no end of pleasure. And watching him in concert? Oh my gosh, I have to guard against being that mom who embarrasses her child by crying and clapping and whistling at the same time. 🙂
I’m sure he will come up with a winner. BTW, I have been eyeballing those same chairs online and just can’t bring myself to pull the trigger and “add to cart”. I’m still praying lots of luck for you two on your new adventure…not that you need it.
Awesome!!!
You guys are always doing the coolest things 🙂 Then you throw in some shoe shopping! Must be why I love this blog, you have a way of making even the most everyday things seem interesting along with the extraordinary things!!
Well now I’m all teary eyed. Not because of Kevin’s playing (which was wonderful), but because my 19 year old son moved out this past February and I really miss hearing his guitar in the house. I wish the two of you all the best as you follow your dream … and I’m sure the theme song will be perfect. Now I’m off to find one of my son’s youtube videos to cheer me up!
that was great guys! thanks so much for sharing!
There is something about a man playing a guitar 😉
🙂
Seriously, could you guys be any cuter????
So sweet!! Thanks for sharing!!! Love that song too!! Can’t wait for your pilot!!
That’s awesome…I am so excited for Kevin! You two are the most adorable couple on the planet! 🙂
Nice guitar playing. You guys look awesome together.Love your blog too. 🙂
Kevin ROCKS!!!!!
Thank you!!
Great idea; I’m sure it will make it in the show! Is there anything creative that you guys DON’T do?!
I love how he is so confident playing the guitar until you say “Gotcha” and then he gets all shy and embarrassed 😉 You two are too cute!
This Nova Scotia girl reallllly loves your blog..:)
Much enjoyed! just when I thought the show was unbelievable cool it just got even cool-er! Personalized by Kev’s own artistic talent, i love it! by the way…i hate capitalization in comments texts emails, ect. so sorry my comments are lazily typed. i’ll save the proper grammer for when school starts back up in the end of september, k, thanks for accepting me. flaws, poor grammer, abreviations, and dirty hair! (=
Awesome!!!
Layla,
He is to darn cute…and talented:)
I was also noticing some new metal chairs I didn’t remember seeing. Are you holding back or did I miss a post?
Man, I wish I had your life way back when I was your age. I can only imagine how much cooler its going to get for you two talented lovebirds!
I have a big cheesy grin on my face….you two are too cute! 😀
Love you guys! I adore everything you do! Okay, so I’m going to shamelessly give my husband a plug – if Kev needs his recording mixed and/or mastered – my hubs is the guy!!! Check him out at http://www.midnightstudiosnj.com. Don’t you just love being married to a musician! Guitar players are the best, don’tcha think 🙂
Awesome, Thanks!!
OK, you know I love music and this would be perfect for your show. They would be idiots not to use his music!!! So happy for you two!
Loved it! and your friend Josh looks like Robert Downey, Jr. in one of the photos!
Im clapping all the way from Europe, Well done Kev! Best of luck on your new project/projects. Cant wait to hear/see more! I hope it all works out for you two……… Julie in Holland ……
So fun! Whenever I hear the beginning of that song, it always makes me smile. Oh, and I think Kev would be a great babysitter. I know my boys would love him. 🙂
Thanks Jenny! 🙂
Love hearing Kevin play. I really enjoyed your video of him enjoying the acoustics at PW’s house that you posted a while back too. Looking forward to hearing what happens.
My best- Diane
Thank you Diane! I really had a good time strumming at PW’s ranch. It always sounds cool in big open rooms. 🙂
Life, love, and music makes the world go round.
A beautiful couple in a pilot rocks too.
Love Kevin’s tattoo. What does it stand for?
Enjoy a terrific weekend. Geri.
Hi Geri!
Believe it or not, Kev used to be quite the little karate kid. He was nationally ranked at one point! 😀
That tattoo means “Yoshukai” in Japanese. That’s the style of karate he took from age 9 to 19.
You two are so cute. I can’t wait to hear the theme song that wins.
Boy, he can play a guitar. That’s for dang sure. Glad you caught it on film.
Soooooo…..you guys are coming to Denver, eh? Wanna take on a little condo project. I need HELP!!!! lol
Thankfully, IKEA just arrived in town, so there may be hope for me. If I were creative, that is……Your blog helps inspire me!
(But seriously, if you’re kickin’ around Denver with nothing to do, look me up! 😉
you two r too sweet. Really enjoy the guitar playing. Nice to see kevin’s shy smile at the end there 🙂 .
“Looks like a face”. Ah ha ha ha! I love you.
Cool! Did you guys make to 16th St in Denver so he could play the piano?
You two are the cutest!
Now if we could only get a video of Kevin showing us some of his karate moves…… 😉
Thanks for making me smile today 🙂 You guys are such a wonderful couple!
y’a make my heart smile!!! 🙂
Very cute and very sneaky! I LOVE it!
I just watched a show on HGTV called “Summer Home”. I think it was a Canadian export, but I definitely think you guys should do the American version. Something to think about for next summer. They redid an aging summer home on a limited budget. You two certainly have experience in that!
How many times can I say…you two are SO DARN CUTE….HGTV better know how lucky they are to have both of you!! ♥♥
