My favorite space in our new house is the sunroom.

It’s straight ahead when you walk through the front door, and our back door leads outside on the left side of it. On the right side of the room, there’s a large storage closet and a half bath.

Here’s a shot of the bathroom:

Can’t wait to cottage it up!
The first thing we moved into the sun room from our old house was our piano. And when I say, “we”, I mean- professional piano movers.

The second thing we moved in there was window treatments…a.k.a- a roll of brown Kraft paper and some painters tape.

There are a few important things missing from this house. None of the kitchen or bathroom cabinets have shelves in them, and none of the windows have window treatments on them. We haven’t decided how we’re going to permanently handle either of these issues yet, but the Kraft paper taped to the bottom half of some of our windows seems to be doing the privacy trick for now.
If you look to the left when you come through the front door, you see the living room.

And if you’re anything like me and Kev, you see a wall full of white-painted built-in cabinetry and a total fireplace makeover, too- ha!

If you look to the right when you come through the front door, you see the kitchen.

It’s small, but it’ll work fine for us, and there’s a generous pantry off to the left side of it. Right now, everything is pretty neutral, neutral, neutral, and new, new, new- so we look forward to injecting some cottage-style character in there in the future.

Our pets have been adjusting to the new house pretty well. They LOVE sunning on the sun room floor in the morning.

Tomorrow, Kit-Cat and I look forward to blogging about the upstairs.

He should have it all sniffed out by then.

Oh, wow, I’m drooling over your sun room and, more importantly, your baby grand. So sweet. The acoustics in that room will be fun. Love your new place. Such a deal!! Enjoy your new home.
I love the house so far! It’s gonna look amazing when you guys fix it up to suit you.
What a gorgeous new home. You’ll have it spiffed up and cottagey in no time. I can’t wait to watch the entire process.
There is no *you* in that house yet but I can imagine that change is already starting in your head!!! It’s gonna be great when you take some of it ‘down a notch’ in TLC style. 🙂
Oh my goodness, it is just gorgeous! Perfect house for you and I can’t wait to see what the two of you do to personalize it. I know it is going to be Gorgeous!

“Beautimus”!!! I love it….. just cannot wait to see what you do with the fire place wall!!! LOLOL … love …. love the sunroom!!!!!! Congrats again!!
I can just imagine all the ideas rattling around in both of your heads! You’re both so talented, this will be such a fun journey. Thanks so much for taking us along. Can you hear our collective spirits standing behind you wishing you well? Congratulations on your great new home!
I am excited to see what you do with it! When you get to building bookcases around the fireplace, will you show how you do it? I have something like that in mind for my house and would love to see how you build it.
Love your new home! Clean, neutral and has so much charm. You’ll have your stamp on it in no time. Can’t wait to watch the progress. Put some temporary drapes up using the drop cloths for now! That will save you a few bucks.
Hi Guys! I’m loving the new house! So happy how it all worked out for ya.
What a beautiful house and with your ideas and touches, it will soon be the perfect home. Could you have found a better place?, I think not!
I, too, can’t wait to see what you do with your home to ‘cottage-fy” it – I purchased a new home in a cute little cottage style community three years ago. While I love my house, I sometimes feel it’s not cottage-y enough, but I don’t have the budget to spend money when what is there is perfectly serviceable, you know? But, I would love to know how to do things with my fireplace etc. without having to rip it all out.
I’m sure whatever you come up with will be an inspiration!
Congratulations you two! I must admit I was pretty weepy at the thought of never seeing the old “Lettered Cottage” again, but your new place is so gorgeous and inviting. I just know you two will rock it out cottage style, big time! Looking forward to that upstairs tour, Mr. Kit Kat.

So pretty. I can see why you fell in love with this house!!!
Congratulations!!
Love the new place! Congrats!! Can’t wait to see all your creative updates. =)
It’s already beautiful. Can’t wait to see the enhancements.
It’s beautiful…I’m a follower, but don’t usually comment 🙂 I love how the celing is painted a lighter shade of the wall.
I can’t wait to see what ya’ll do!
Thanks for sharing!
I love it. I don’t have a house so i will enjoy watching you making yours into a home! Do you play the piano? Maybe someday you can play and make a video clip for us to hear you. Probably sounds great in the empty house right now.. 🙂 Looking forward to all your decorating adventures.
welcome to monkey town! i love your new house and can’t wait to see you “cottage” it up….how wonderful that you got a foreclosure…you can get some pretty sweet deals when that happens.
The kraft paper curtains go perfectly with the wall color! 🙂 Great choice! I see what you mean by the finishes. They’re all pretty easy and fun things to change though.
Love it Layla! Looking forward to seeing you both work your magic:)
The house is quite cute, even without all your personal touches. Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Love it! So much potential , too! Before I’d even read what you wrote about the built ins, I thought “that fireplace is getting a makeover & cabinetry in the very near future”! Ha! The sink pedestal thingy is…um…different? 😉 But I absolutely love the windows & doors & the style of the kitchen cabinets! Can’t wait to see upstairs!
Btw…Kit Kat is my youngest cat’s twin!!
Love the new home. Beautiful exterior and interior too. I can’t wait to see you work your magic on it space by space.
Nothing like a fresh canvas to create.
Enjoy!
Congrats! Can’t wait to see what you do with it
I CANNOT wait to see what you do to your sunroom! 🙂 I can’t tell you how many times I thought of submitting a picture of my sunroom to you for a Pick My Presto. My sunroom is in the front of my house, but it looks so much like yours with the windows. DO THAT ROOM FIRST! lol I’ve never known how to handle the windows because we live on a corner and need privacy but yet I want to see outside, too. It’s a pickle, I tell ya! 🙂
Wow! It’s super fabulous just as it is! I can’t wait to see what you’ve got up your sleeve!
I am so excited about your new house. It looks brand new. I can’t wait to see how you guys add the cottage charm to it.
So jealous!!! What a fab blank slate to work with! Okay not jealous, so happy for you guys!!!
Xo,
Shannon
So excited for you! I love this house. I was excited to see that the granite in your kitchen is exactly the same as the granite I had installed in my newly remodeled kitchen. I adore it. Looking forward to see yours and Keven’s touches put on your sweet little house!
Wow! That sink in the half bath is adorable! I think the finishes on the lighting and tile are just the right jewelry for this jewelbox of a house which you will make your home! Lovely! Can’t wait for the upstairs!
What a beautiful home (and you left a beautiful home too) Can’t wait to see the rest and Very excited to see what you and Kev do to the place. Congratulations
Loving everything about your new home! And, congratulations…I remember how excited we were when we finally got the keys to our home in the country. I also remember all the worring and fretting that lead up to that moment! Enjoy 🙂
It is lovely!! What a fabulous fine!!
Ooh, how exciting! I can’t wait to see the rest of house, and of course, looking forward to seeing how you cottage-it-up!
It’s super nice! You’re right, the sun room is the best room downstairs! I love it!
Holy cow… amazing! You just moved into my dream house….. 🙂
The best of luck:)! I remember well that feeling, enjoy it. It is a beautiful home!!! And my gosh the $, wow I want to move to AL. NY is crazy expensive but it is home, for now anyways. Can’t wait to see what you guys do! Have a good one.
Cannot wait to see how you “cottage it up” cuz right now it looks a lot like mine and I always wonder, “just how would Layla cottage this thing up?” 🙂 So excited for this new adventure we’re on!!
