Brian finished the closet baseboards (they match our existing baseboards, yay!) and the trim around the doors and cubby holes yesterday…
He brought the cutest little helper with him too…
He was a little less camera shy than his Dad, so I went all paparazzi on him for a minute. He just giggled alot….
…and blew me away with his mad carpentry skills (#SoAwesome)…and called me ma’am. (#SweetSouthernBoy)
And speaking of sweet, Southern boys…
I’m happy to report that Kit-Cat is using his litter box again. Turns out he wasn’t afraid of the lid after all. It was the cat litter deodorizer, baking powder stuff you sprinkle in with the litter. I usually sprinkle it in the pan before I add fresh litter, but that particular week I made the mistake of just sprinkling it on top of his litter. Kit-Cat no likey to walk-y on the sprinkle-y. I gave his pan a quick shake the day I published that last post, and he immediately started using his litter box again.
Guess he’s just a powderless paw kinda cat.

The room is coming along and looks great. Kit-Cat is adorable… so glad to hear he’s back to using the liter pan.

If you get tired of the baskets about the closet, you could always toss in a tension rod and make a curtain for it. Give it a pop of color. Looking forward to what you will be doing above the window.

I love the closets! That is just what I want to do in my daughters room. And what is not to like about Kit-Cat, he is adorable! We recently rescued a 4-week old tuxedo boy kitty my daughter named Oreo. He is such a sweet little man, even when he is getting kitten-crazy!
What a sweet little kitty! And I am thisclose to convincing my hubs we need to build closets like these. I love the added storage and everything but I think they also add SO much character!
The carpenter’s helper is a little cutie – I have a 12 year old boy that’s going to be a lady killer in a couple of years.

Just out of curiosity I’m wondering why you two didn’t make them yourselves as you can both turn your hands to anything? After painting my daughter’s room while she was away with school for 5 days I made the decision to pay someone to do stuff for me from now on as they can do a better job in half the time!

Since both of our plates are slam-packed with other jobs right now, we decided we’d find someone who could help make our vision come to life instead. Also, we used to wing our way through these kinds of projects- but would always end up super unhappy with our (unprofessional) results, so we were excited to have someone who knew what they were doing tackle this job. 🙂
Looking awesome! We had someone give us a price to build out closets in our tiny closet home and it was big bucks…maybe I should get another quote, they look so good.

I love that you took Kit-Cat in and that he seems so very happy and safe! I have a kitty who was a stray when I found him and, even though his medical issues have cost me thousands of dollars over the past 5 years, I have never once regretted taking him in. (Love the closets too!)

They’re 24″ deep (to accommodate the width of the hangers with clothes on them if we ever decide we need to use the closets for clothes), and the closet on the right is just over 29″ wide and the closet on the left is just over 25″ wide. (I originally planned to have Brian construct an angled ceiling over the windows, but since the windows weren’t centered (boo!), we had to skip that idea.) Curtains, it is! 😀
