Greetings!
We have some exciting news to share today! We’ve been working on something “design TV-related” for a while now, and we’re really excited about the direction it’s moving in.
Think: our blog in 3D…meaning, low-dough/high-smile room redos, real-life DIY adventures, and lots of YOU!

At this point, we need to see if you’d be into A) having us over to help you redo a room or two (or three!), and/or B) helping us redo someone’s elses space(s). (Maybe you’re a mural artist, or a seamstress, or you’d just like to lend a helping hand by painting a wall or working on a craft project with us, etc.)
We also need to know what area you live in. (City/State/Country) (You can live anywhere, and every comment will be read!)
We hoping to round up as many responses as we can in the next 48 hours, so if you’re interested, and you have time to leave a comment, please do!
We’re working with some super-talented and creative folks and they’re very interested in seeing the response to this post, so please don’t be shy, and thank you so much! We’ll definitely keep you posted and we hope to hug you soon!

PS- We’d also like to invite you to join us on Facebook & Twitter!
(We’re seeking responses on those sites too! Thank You!)

I would love if you came to Westlake, OH! We live 30 min. from the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland…do we win Kevin’s vote? We bought a fixer upper with a great yard for our 3 kids. We had an addition built to expand our 1950’s bungalow. Our kitchen is now large but I’m afraid I’ve made some design mistakes. We could really use help in many areas of our home….but my biggest hope is to find help with our kitchen and outdoor patio or lack of patio. Our daughter is learning to play guitar….could Kevin through in a lesson as well? Good luck where ever this may lead you!
I’m in Mclean VA and would love to have some design help/inspiration/advice! Bonus is there are quite a few of us in the DC area so we could roll up our sleeves and help each other with your guidance. I may not be super talented but have paint roller and will travel!
We would love decorating help in BC Canada! So excited for you guys!
I think I missed the deadline because I was painting a former bedroom that I would like to make into a craft room for me and my 3 grands (Ava-4, Blake 3, Lily 2). I live south of Andalusia AL (you probably go right by my house on the way to Destin or Pensacola). I am also in desperate need of a kitchen and entry area redesign. Good luck.
i’m writing on behalf of my house.
it’s pleading for yall to come and visit elyria, ohio.
she needs a kitchen/dining room update in the worst way.
and my quilting space could definitely use some sprucing up.
😀
Salt Lake City, UT
I’m one of those like you who jump in and try my hand at about anything. I can upgolstey, sew, paint, fix, build, ….
I’m not as outgoing as you to have the blog (4 kids get in the way too (-:) and I don’t have your design eye but I have skills. I’d love to be in on a project.
Oh no! I think I’m too late! 🙁 My master bedroom would be perfect for a redo. I’ve really done nothing to it, and I’m just out of ideas…and dough. We live in a neat neighborhood of ranch homes built in the 50’s in Nashville, TN. I love our home, and it has been so much fun decorating it. I discovered your blog about a year ago. Your cottage style fits me well. I hope you’ll consider this entry even though it’s late. I would post some pics, but I have no idea how to do it.
Umm… yes please! I have some kitchen cabinets that could use a facelift and a fireplace that needs serious updating. I live in Richland, WA.
we could have so much fun! Boise, ID
We just bought our first house yesterday! It’s in St. Louis Missouri and I’m clueless. We are moving there so my husband can go to dental school, so we won’t be able to do much to it – lack of funds. It’s tiny, especially the kitchen. I missed the deadline, but I thought I’d try anyway!
Hi! How about a Frank Lloyd Wright wannbe? You can pick any room but probably the only one we can afford for now is the hall bath. Or, the patio. Or the kitchen. Or . . . I would love to work with you on crafts also!
Forgot to tell you this one is across the street from you!
What a cool idea!! I love your blog and would love to meet you and Kevin!! I just moved from the midwest to the south in Feb. and our new house is a blank slate. Totally blank. I don’t know if you can view my facebook photos, but here’s a link to what I am talking about:

We love in Simpsonville, SC. The house is 5 beds, 3 baths and I want to add lots of character. It was built in 2005 and lacks it 🙂 We are in the process of adding beadboard to the bath and then ?!? Who knows! Weird that we started there, but it is small and I needed a small victory before we tackled something larger. ha! I just want to make my house a home for my family…we miss our friends and family so much 🙁 A little organization and pics on the wall would help! It just takes time to get there unfortunately. But, a visit from you would be a great help 🙂
I think I may be late to the party…but I thought I would throw it out there! You all are awesome and I love you style. Can’t wait to see where your travels take you!
I dabble in graphic design, sewing, woodworking (we built built-ins in the last house), and not afraid of trying anything..after all, you can’t succeed if you don’t try!
It would be such an awesome first anniversary present for my wonderful new daughter-in-law and awesome if you came on over to redo their kitchen. Your style is right up their alley.
I’m late but come to North Bend, Wa! I need some serious help with my spaces! Pretty please with sugar on top!
I am probably like one million in the pecking order so I will give it to you short and sweet. We have a newly purchased craftsman bungalow in Decatur, GA. Our neighborhood is known as Oakhurst and is a great little community within the Atlanta City limits with lots of new families looking to create a great neighborhood for our families. Our home was built in 1923 and we have been busy doing renovations for about 3 months. Our kitchen is good to go but I am stuck on our living, dining, master bedroom, and up stairs renovation. Love your style and think we could be the best of friends. Did I mention I love Tybee and vacation every year. Headed there Memorial weekend. Create a room for me and you can stay all week at the beach. Love you and Kevin! Keep the dream a moving….
OH YES!!! Please come to my house. Louisville, KY. 1960’s purple and white tile bathroom or our sunroom. I would also be glad to lend whatever help I can if you come to Louisville! Love your style!
Come on up to Flowery Branch, Ga! Even it’s name is lovely! I have a giant bedroom with giant ceilings that I am at a loss of what to do with! Nothing is off limits and I’m game for anything that would make it feel more intimate and romantic and relaxing. Oh and as a bonus, I sew, embroider, knit and craft in general! Pick me and we will treat you to a good old porch night complete with scrumptious goodies and ice cold beverages!
Hi Kev & Layla, just read your post, and we have a family beach house on Jekyll Island, GA that y’all could do wonders with!! It was my grandmother’s and my dad helped build it when he was 15 years old! Jekyll is a very special place, a step back in time really. That’s awesome for the island, but the house could use help! My mom and I are both painters, and she’s also a seamstress. Yea, she’s amazing. My sweet husband & son are super handy. 🙂
Wow! You got a ton of comments!!!
See how much we love you?!
I know mine is late, but I just had to say that you can come renovate anything you want in my new home. We will be moving this month to a 1500 square foot home on 5 acres, right outside of Lexington, Ky. It has huge potential, but every room needs renovated. I am hoping to start with the kitchen.
Besides that, you know I would love to help you with a reno if you are ever in central KY. You know what I can do, Layla. 🙂 So if you need a slipcover sewn, furniture painted, or a thrifty shopping partner, you know I am in. Plus, I know I can get my hubby in the action too. He and Kevin could bust out some serious work together. He can build a house from the ground up, so you could use him for anything. Plus, he’s hot! hee.hee.
Love you, girl!
Can’t wait to see you guys in 3D. It’s going to be great!!!!!
Mckinney,Tx is where it’s at. We were voted Top 5 best places to live (2 yrs running now). My hubbie and I scrimped and saved to buy our first house. It’s over 3000 Sqft of “do what ever you want to it”. In particular, we passed on having our media room done and right now it’s roughed out. We would LOVE some design help with it because it is such a challenge to figure out where to start. You could have at it!
We would love for you to come on over and decorate any room .. the whole house if you would! 🙂 It would be super awesome!!
Hi Layla and Kevin,
My husband and I live with our beautful 2 year old daughter in New Hampshire. We have a classic cottage style home.We have a smallish home on 3 beautiful acres in semi rural New England. We love cottage style and could really use help in our kitchen (painting stock cabinets, installing hardware, putting in a built in seating area and built in bookshelves around our dining room table, painting the table, building an island). We are going to do all of it ourselves eventually but are still i the research phase. We have all the tools just not the skills. Your style has been such an inspiration.
Falls are amazing and New England has great antiquing and style. We would love to have you up here. We can even promise some peace and quiet and outside bonfires for the nights when there is no working 🙂
Congrats on the new project wherever you go. It will be amazing.
Well, if you come out to Boise Idaho we’d sure be interested! We would love a room redo!
WOW!! Amazing response, but I’m not surprised!
We are just outside of Nashville, TN and have been working on our house for too long. I’m ready to be finished, but we keep getting stalled out. I have lots of ideas, but can’t seem to get it all together. Hubby is very handy and will try just about anything that I come up with. He is getting ready to retire soon and will have more time to work on it. We could sure use a little TLC!
Hi Kevin and Layla,
My 23 old son bought a great 1970’s rambler in the burbs of St Paul, MN. a year and a half ago. He is working on making it more his style versus the previous owner—a single woman with a teen age daughter. That meant lots of pastels! He has done quite a bit of work on the main level and then we had a lot of rain last fall and we had to totally gut the whole lower level down to the concrete floors and block walls. Fortunately he and my hubby are handy but they could sure use some Palmer Magic to help him get started. He is a welder by trade and would love to incorporate some metal into his design. Rails, bar, sculpture. Would love to see what fabulous ideas you would come up with for him. P.S. He’s a great guy too and a really hard worker!!
I have been reading your blog for a few weeks now and I love how you have transformed your house. My husband and I bought a 1950’s ranch 3yrs. ago and have slowly but surely been fixing and remodeling. We need help with our kitchen and family room. I love to paint, know how to sew, and I’m willing to help out in whatever you need!! I live in Springfield, OH
Hey Layla! I live in SEATTLE! Bring some of your fresh coastal style to the WEST coast! We have completely renovated our 1960’s rambler, except for one room. I has a huge brick fireplace that I don’t know what to do with and has to serve as a dining/ family room for our young family. I need your help!!! I know you would know just what to do! Come to Seattle and point me in the right direction, then enjoy all the fabulous things there are to do here! The mountains! The water! The shopping! (I am not above bribary..:D) Hope to hear from you soon!
How EXCITING for you! Like everyone else, I have a house that would be perfect for you – and I am an experienced house “redoer”! We live in a cute 1920’s house in Sheboygan, WI where we can listen to Lake Michigan:) It has fantastic wood floors, original wood trim and wonderful original glass french doors… We moved in about a month ago and are on our way to making it the perfect cozt home for our family. The town is fantastic and is perfect in the summer time. I LOVE your style:) The reader who has a family that owns a hardware store and the TONS of readers from TX would be awesome too!
Keep up the wonderful work – I can’t wait to see the results of your labor!
I love you blog! You guys are such an inspiration. I would love to have help decorating my space or have some one do it! We have and will be renting for a while. It seems hard for me to find my style and decorate the way I would like when the house isn’t mine. I have yet to decorate anything for my boys room, I have two and we are expecting our third boy in November. Oh I would love a great boys room! We will be living in Belmont, MA. It will be a great place to visit and we would love to have you!
Yes, we would love some help! We just bought a home that we will be moving into June. Woodbridge, VA. I would also nominate my Mom if you are looking in the Florida area which needs a lot of work and updating in the bathrooms and bedrooms.
Hey Layla and Kevin-
I’d love to help out any way that I could! I am an expert vintage shopper and thrifter in Wisconsin. I also have a line of curtains that I design and would consider donating to a project.
Here’s my blog:

I will be moving to Plymouth, MN (my dad’s basement- super classy!) and I have a family room to switch over- and a bathroom!
We live ijust outside Toledo, Ohio. I love your blog! I have a million ideas and a major case of ADD…which means I can’t even start a project without it changing. It just paralizes me:(. I’d love to have you come help me make any one of my million ideas come to life with your DIY know-how. Maybe it would give me the courage and confidence to actually do the rest of them myslef.
I’m in if you’re coming to Pensacola, Florida.
I’m near Greenville, SC, and would love to have you come do my rooms! Heck, I’d set you loose on my whole house!
Hi guys,
Wow…well I really REALLY love to decorate too. My friends say I am good at it. Somedays I think I’m good…and ALLOT of days I know the “look” I want but just can’t quite put it together.
I would LOVE some help/input with my bonus room. A Part of it is my sons room (when he’s here:) The room is HUGE…it needs some major organization. I would also love a part of it to do Yoga/ Pilates with mirrors…something.
Probably what drives me the most crazy is it seems to be a catch all room…you know when you don’t have a basement you throw it upstairs in the bonus room…UGH!!!
Your blog is very cool…love that. And that last magazine that you had on that days blog post. Is that only on your blog or is it something I can purchase. I would LOVE to leaf threw that page by page.
Thank you,
Lisa
Am I too late for the party?
I’d totally be into having you guys come to Hawaii and helping me with this cottage!
The Lettered Cottage needs to come to Chico, CA to “cottage” up my craftsman style house!!!
I am at a loss as to how to fit in decorating and making my home feel like “us” while at the same time being a mom, wife, and nurse and enjoying life. I SO, SO want to just be able to take a deep breath in, look around and think “yep this is us” but right now I am always taking a deep breath in and thinking “Ugh, how do I get this to happen?” I search and search for inspirational ideas but am always afraid to pull the trigger because I don’t trust my decorating sense, and then I always second guess myself. I need some experts like you to help! If I had a choice, I think I’d do my master bedroom because I want it to be a peaceful, enjoyable, very inspiring kind of place, and well, it’s just not that right now. I envision a tufted or nailheaded headboard, some draperies for the big window that will frame our bed, some cool wall treatment, and anything your magical minds envision! Or I’d also love to do my little boys’ upstairs “playroom” which I want to be a cool hang out space for them but right now is just filled with toys in various leftover storage spaces. I need you!
Do we have a design challenge for you! We just moved into our brand new, very builder basic beige house in a beautiful old neighbourhood. Neighbourhood wickedly charming and sweet; house, not so much. It needs lots of help, and character! We are in Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA. Road trip, maybe? MAYBE?!?! 🙂
Come visit me in Ft. Wright, KY – just across the river from Cincinnati! I’m a wanna be do it yourselfer single mom with a house that’s got a lot of potential. I just need a little help from someone like you to make it perfect!
Come on over – you can do any room you want! I’m in Parker, CO! The weather is beautiful this time of year! You would love it – a break from the humidity!
Well, there is this great little sunroom just waiting to be converted to a breakfast nook or something like that. The the upstairs study and gallery, the spare bedroom, the new front door, the sunroom that is currently a den…the list goes on and on. And hey, we are practically in your own backyard!
Come any day,
P & J
Wait, am I too late to be counted?! We have a teeny-tiny kitchen that was built 100 years ago with Munchkins in mind, really, everything is very low with no counter space. Although the counter we do have is blaze orange : ) We’re here in Minneapolis, MN…isn’t that familiar territory?
Pick me, Pick me!!!! (said in Donkey’s voice from Shrek).
Sent an email earlier today, but not on this post….just the regular email, so thought I’d cover my bases.
Am so excited for what must be on the horizon for y’all. Love your blog, love your style…love your funny, down-to-earth approach to things. If you do go to the tv realm, you will be a hit. I follow your blog religiously…kids say it’s “my strange addition”! Currently have your paint chips (rice grain and alabaster) up on our walls and cabinets.
Would L-O-V-E if you came to Austin…you could bring sweet Max, your rocker hubbie could get a gig or two….surely Antoine’s must be calling his name???
I don’t sew, but love to paint and find cool artifacts that make the boring, interesting. We live in the burbs, please come help us make it more interesting than it, in fact, is!
Waiting in Austin! Lisa
We live in a really charming little 60 year old cottage/bungalow in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Our home sits in a pretty little valley with plenty of elk, moose, deer, and resident grey owls. My husband and I have 2 little girls, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. I can paint, sew, knit, and my husband is pretty handy too 🙂 I love your designs and would be thrilled to participate in any design redos!!!
so you know what they say about the cobblers kids having no shoes…well i have a great little coastal shop and find myself left with no time to make my own coastal nest as spectacular as it should be…would love to have you come to coastal new england – quaint little main street right on the water. love your style and design philosophy.
Oh yes…i have just the room for you. it belongs to a 15 year old who is always against my design ideas! i want her to have a room she loves before going off to college! you can find us in Morganton NC. and i would be honored to help paint, decorate or do anything you need done to help out here or elsewhere. ypu guys are great. kk
I live in Crestwood, Kentucky and would love for you to help me in as many rooms as you want to. I love everything you do. Everything!
Would love for you to work on our house in Long Beach, CA. Lots of work everywhere, but specifically bedrooms. I LOVE your style!
