Calling All E-Friends

May 5, 2011 By Layla

Greetings!

We have some exciting news to share today!  We’ve been working on something “design TV-related” for a while now, and we’re really excited about the direction it’s moving in.
Think:
our blog in 3D…meaning, low-dough/high-smile room redos, real-life DIY adventures, and lots of YOU!

At this point, we need to see if you’d be into A) having us over to help you redo a room or two (or three!), and/or B) helping us redo someone’s elses space(s). (Maybe you’re a mural artist, or a seamstress, or you’d just like to lend a helping hand by painting a wall or working on a craft project with us, etc.)

We also need to know what area you live in. (City/State/Country)  (You can live anywhere, and every comment will be read!)

We hoping to round up as many responses as we can in the next 48 hours, so if you’re interested, and you have time to leave a comment, please do!

We’re working with some super-talented and creative folks and they’re very interested in seeing the response to this post, so please don’t be shy, and thank you so much! We’ll definitely keep you posted and we hope to hug you soon!

PS- We’d also like to invite you to join us on Facebook & Twitter!

(We’re seeking responses on those sites too! Thank You!)

This whole adventure sounds awesome. Would love to have your magic worked in any room in my house but would especially love for my kids rooms to get a pinch of personality. 17 yr old girl…lover of books and the written word, artist (especially fond of acrylics), enjoys the sights, sounds and textures of the world around her, also secretly wishes to be British. Girl 14…kind and helpful beyond words, not as strong a sense of style as older sister but still loves certain things…old fans, spray painted chandelirs, organization and more. 2 boys / 1 room…12 & 9…grungy nerds – how’s that for a description? Bikes, skateboards, outdoors, exploring, pokemon. We’d love to show you the sights around trabuco canyon, orange county, californua

Very excited for this new adventure you guys are working on! We would welcome any help with our home because while I know design is in the details our three young daughters seem to get every last ounce of our creativity in day to day life! I think our home is ready for some attention too. We live in Lafayette, Colorado, just outside of Boulder.

Would love to have you over to help with two of my rooms. And would love to help – I am not professional, but getting better and better at all DIY-related stuff, including gardening.

I live in Sweden… so I guess chances are small, but you did say anywhere. ;-D

Hey Layla! This sounds like the perfect opportunity for the DIY/ home blogging community to adopt a family who has lost their home, or a portion of their home, in the Alabama tornadoes! There are 1,000s of houses across the state right now looking for help getting their stuff back together. Some are a complete loss, but I’m betting there would be plenty for you to makeover after the reconstruction is completed! This was something that came to my mind right after the storm hit, but couldn’t figure out a way to make it happen on my own. With your enormous voice and platform and connections in the interior design and blogging world it could totally be do-able! Not to mention the amazing and compassionate hearts you and Kevin both have!

I am more than happy to help in any way that I can! I personally was not damaged in Shelby County, AL but there are 18 other counties in the northern half of the state where you could likely throw a dart at a map and hit an affected town. I can paint cartoon murals, and I’d love to donate time and effort toward rebuilding a happy playroom for a child who lost everything in the storm. Here is my latest blog entry about other ways people can help! http://unskinnyboppy.blogspot.com/2011/05/ask-and-ye-shall-receive.html

Please consider this one guys! Talk about a worthy cause!

    Thanks so much!

We’ve been in our home for 26 years and I need help getting rid of all the wood cabinets and wood around the fireplace. I live in a suburb of Dallas, Texas and am pretty handy — love to paint, sew and shop for thrifty treasures. Just can’t seem to get my house updated now.

Come to good old Northern California. 1st stop my mom’s house needs your magic touch. She lives by the water and needs a charming, coastal look. Next stop in Alameda, is my house. My family room.

Oh my goodness…who wouldn’t want Kevin and Layla to do a re-do in their home. I would love it, but truly, its best to find someone who needs their home to be a refuge. I live in Massachusetts and the need is in Alabama right now. Poor folks, my heart breaks for them. It’s not close enough for me to travel to you but I would be happy to make a donation. This is a great project and I wish you the best of luck!

Hoping that my comment will stand out and grab your attention amongst the SEA of eager hopefuls vying for your talented hammer-holding,paint-brush wielding, photo-genius selves. We live in an old 1925 cape cod in Louisville,KY. We were about to start a reno (new kitchen, knocking down walls, new flooring), this week, but due to complications beyond our control it was postponed. Anyhow, since that happened we’ve been using the interim re-thinking our plan and really trying to tweak what we are really needing/wanting. We could use some help!

Please, Please, Please pick my house. Kidding…I wasn’t really begging. ha I have a small but very open living rm, dinette, kitchen area and finding it hard to blend the three rooms. Also placing furniture has been my nemesis since we moved in 4 years ago. I move furniture daily and my husband comes home to a different way of watching TV every night. I could so use some help. And meeting you would just be the cherry on top! We live in Baldwinsville, NY (Syracuse).

Pick us! Love us! 🙂 Can you say “pink backsplash and pink and gold counter tops” in the kitchen? We bought this house as a fixer-upper and got soooo overwhelmed that we’ve just had a hard time getting started. Plus, because of the house values in our neighborhood, we will not get a good return on the money we put into the house right now (I think many people in the country are facing the same thing). We are in Kansas City. We would love to help if you ae fixing up another place in the Kansas City area! We adore your guys and are very excited for your new advanture!

Hi Layla & Kevin, My1920’s blue bungalow has good bones but is ready for a fresh new look. It’s also a duplex so you’d have double the rooms to choose from to work your magic on. Beat the heat this summer and head north to Milwaukee Wisconsin. Cheesehead follower of the lettered cottage for many years -more than readyto have fun and work with or be guided by your expertise to shape up my space!! Hope to see you in Milwaukee (Wauwatosa) WI!!

WOW!! Just now seeing this. Can you believe all these comments?? See, this just shows you all need your own show…got a major audience here already!
You know my over the garage room needs a kick start, but it’s not going to happen due to the rising cost of college – low dough stil requires SOME dough – so all creative activities will be yard oriented this year (send your mom – ha ha!).
Anyway,if you read down to this 900th comment, just wanted to say congratulations on your new projects! I can paint and sew some drapes and pillows if you are in the middle georgia area and need behind the scenes help.

Oh boy do I have the rooms! We just moved into a new (to us) house and there isn’t a room in it that I don’t have big plans (with a little budget) for. Right now I’m struggling with how to make all of our old stuff work in the new layout. We also have plans to repurpose the living room as a bedroom for our special needs daughter and convert the half bath to a full bath – the ease of converting those rooms was what sold us on the house but now that we’re here it’s a little scary to just start!

Holy cow! We’d be in–we’re in Lakewood, OH (western suburb of Cleveland with a ton of cute old homes). Our 1917 bungalow has several rooms in need of some love, including the kitchen and our bedroom, although a sweet porch redo would be amazing.. 😉

I need help with my family room. It’s small and awkwardly shaped. It’s where I spend the most time and I hate it.

Love your blog! A friend told me about your site after my husband & I bought a true fixer-upper beach house in PCB, FL. I have gathered many ideas from you to inspire the decor, just not sure how to put it all together! The exterior is almost complete but the interior is “bare bones” as we have removed all the sheetrock…just the studs remaining. Would LOVE for you guys to give it your touch. And we’re not afraid of work!

PLEASE come down to the “redneck rivera” !!!

Come to Austin Texas!! My house is only 6 years old, but it lacks charecter (read: builder grade everywhere). It could use some TLC punching up!!

Are you kidding me? Of course I would like your help in my house…. 😀 We are wanting to convert our unused living room into an art studio for my daughter and me. The only tricky part: It is completely open to our foyer and dining room, and it’s the first thing folks see when they enter our home.

I am an artist, and I work primarily in oils.

We live in Birmingham, AL. 😀

Heck yeah! Come on over! This sounds like such fun and I would totally be up for helping on other projects as well. I don’t have any hidden talent that I know of but I dabble in sewing, decorating, crafting, painting (absolutely anything I can get my hands on…) and of course I’m up for learning new things! I love all the renovations you guys have done and they have totally inspired me to start a few projects in our house! Good luck with this – oh and I live in Mt. Pleasant, MI USA.

I’d love to have someone help us rescue our house!

We bought a fixer-upper in July 2010 and have since been plugging away at it bit by bit and are no where close to being done – though, we’re far from where we started.

Located in the beautiful Smoky Mountains: Cullowhee, NC, USA.
