Greetings!
We have some exciting news to share today! We’ve been working on something “design TV-related” for a while now, and we’re really excited about the direction it’s moving in.
Think: our blog in 3D…meaning, low-dough/high-smile room redos, real-life DIY adventures, and lots of YOU!
At this point, we need to see if you’d be into A) having us over to help you redo a room or two (or three!), and/or B) helping us redo someone’s elses space(s). (Maybe you’re a mural artist, or a seamstress, or you’d just like to lend a helping hand by painting a wall or working on a craft project with us, etc.)
We also need to know what area you live in. (City/State/Country) (You can live anywhere, and every comment will be read!)
We hoping to round up as many responses as we can in the next 48 hours, so if you’re interested, and you have time to leave a comment, please do!
We’re working with some super-talented and creative folks and they’re very interested in seeing the response to this post, so please don’t be shy, and thank you so much! We’ll definitely keep you posted and we hope to hug you soon!
PS- We’d also like to invite you to join us on Facebook & Twitter!
(We’re seeking responses on those sites too! Thank You!)
Kari
I am in Cheney, KS and am right by the lake! Please come visit me….I totally blog stalk you! You are the reason I started my blog, after reading about how you and Kevin took a chance on yourselves and decided to do all what you guys truly love! My husband and I are both teachers and I am taking a few years off because we had our third daughter on labor day last year.
Plus, I can cook and paint murals-I have done a few around here at schools and at the YMCA in Wichita. I am very crafty, with a big cup of ADD 🙂 So I have like a thousand projects going on at my house! If you check out my blog, you are all over it in my inspiration pictures!! I need my living room, dining room, kitchen and more redone! I have ideas, but I would love for you two to visit and here your ideas!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE COME VISIT ME!!!!
After reading back mu post I sound like a nut job, but I swear I’m not! 🙂 That’s probably what a real nut job would tell you too, but I mean it!

It’s a little late but you are so talented, I’d love to have you too! I don’t sew or any of that stuff, but I’m a photographer and could contribute wall art for the home of someone with little ones. I live in Kimberly, Idaho.
Kristin

Can you believe you were the FIRST blog I have ever read?
It all started when I came across your reading room on Rate My Space. I was looking for a design to replicate for my daughter Sophias room and it was love at first sight. I have looked at your page every day since. Room by room (actually wall to wall on our budget ) I look for inspiration from your blog, to redecorate our 1200 sq. ft townhome in St. Louis, MO. I swear there have been nights I have layed awake brainstorming how I can recreate your style. Some times I’m giddy with excitement and others I have a knot in my stomach from frustration. Anyways, as a TLC finatic and a DIY’er on a budget, having you do anything to our home would be a blessing. I have treasures I have collected dying to have that perfect background they deserve. Our pink countertops and cheap baseboards just dont do them justice. lol. Until then, I will continue to look to this site for inspiration. Having found someone who puts my kind of “style” to life perfectly, is the inspiration that encourages me to make my “house” a “home”. Now to get Sonny (my hubby) to pick up a saw. hmmmm….

I wanted to write yesterday, but was reading your post in the car on my blackberry. I would LOVE to have you and Kevin come visit us in beautiful Syracuse NY. I was really inspired by your own kitchen redo and would love to take my oak cabinets out of the 1990’s. I’m getting more brave to try stuff on my own after reading your blog, but the thought of undertaking my kitchen is a little overwhelming. I also have 2 little girls and can’t decide what to do with their bedrooms. My house that was built in the 1980’s and we have really lovely flouresent lighting in the bathroom too….are you droolling yet??? Please please please call me if you’re in Syracuse and need help with someone else’s project. My talent is “busting it out” and getting the work done 🙂
Janet
Would love to have your come pick a room in my 1974 ranch in Topeka, Kansas! It’s a blank slate with no architectural detail or charm… A perfect place to work your magic! I’m also crafty and handy and would love to help on a project!

Hi Guys! I live in Richmond, Texas. We bought a new home 3 years ago and I love it, but I miss the personality of our old home. I have been slowly working on adding character to our new home, but could use some help on our living room! I love everything you you do!!!!! Oh and by the way, I can sew, paint, refinish or whatever else you need.
Rachel
We live in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota and would love you to stop by for a visit!

Hello there. Our ranch style home built in 1962 located in Northern VA, just outside of the Nations Capitol, would be a good candidate for a makeover(s). I can tell that you all could get a good months worth of shows trying to fix up any number of rooms here. The worst being our our original bathroom with the pink bathtub or our kitchen that was last updated in the 80’s i.e. think formica and yellowing laminate floors (*shuddering, shaking head and throwing wig on floor*)
Anywhoooo…we are a mess here ready to be fixed:-)
Bernadette
That is a whole lot of comment reading (smile). Hopefully I didn’t totally miss the boat on this one. Way on the other side of the world (okay, maybe it just sort of feels like it), I am in Snoqualmie, WA (aka, “Seattle”). Unless it is hand sewn (which, I do surprisingly well, albeit slooooowly) you wouldn’t want me stitching up much of anything for you. I can paint (contrary to popular belief, in colors other than black, white and yellow), and I’m pretty darn handy (if not at least patient) with the crafty projects. I take direction well, unless those directions are “Do not stop by that estate sale AGAIN on your way home from work.” Just saying. What I do best is shop. For unique, thrifty, awesome finds. And I can take a mean picture and style a room. Don’t judge me by my home, ping me and I’ll show you some real photos.
All to say that our own house is always up for a redo of a room or nook or space. We’ve got plenty of space to host (ie, if you wanted to shop the Pac Gal annual flea market, you could stay here on your way to say…Idaho). Would love to help, behind the scenes or have ya come make our mcmansion a bit more cozy.
Till then. fun times. Love your blog almost as much as your personalities. One of the few blogs I’m, evidently, going to have to actually visit “in person” (rather than through my reader, where commenting is closer to impossible than getting me to clean a toilet). Have a good one!

I would love for you guys to come and redo a room or two. But alas I have no money for decorating of any kind. I love your style and enjoy reading you blog. I live in Southeastern Arizona

Are you KIDDING me???!!! Of COURSE I would let you do anything you wanted in my house! And I would LOVE to help work on someone else’s home! I actually help people to redecorate their spaces just for fun, and the thing I love to do most is nurseries and kids’ rooms. I love coming up with fun, tasteful, practical, educational fabulous ideas for kids! I would adore working with such pros and learning a few things!!! I live in the Nashville, TN area in a tiny little town called Nolensville with several cute antique stores that make me think of you every time I go in them!
Heather
You can come to my place anytime! I love your blog and have loved all of your projects. With four loud kids, I’m in desperate need of some manpower to help accomplish my decorating goals!!! Come see us in VA!
Jennifer
I almost fell out my chair when I read this! I’d be CRAY-ZAY not to respond to this ,even though I am late!!! I am in Lexington, South Carolina. We just built a new home last year and we have a 1100 sq ft finished basement we cannot, for the life of us, get a handle on. We have a million ideas but we just don’t know where to start!
I’d love to have you guys over for some sweet tea, sweat and tears!!
Cynthia
Hi Ya’ll,
I live “just up the road” in Huntsville, AL, and would love to have you redo my kitchen, breakfast room, and/or den. Or, how about adding a screened porch? Ya’ll come and see us!

I live in Knoxville , TN and I would LOVE for you guys to help me with my Tired, sad, ugly, gloomy, depressing basement
Adriane
I would love a little creative direction for my home. You guys are great and I love everything you post. We live in Mount Airy, MD. It is beautiful here. Come and see!!

How exciting!
We are a family of three and we recently moved to a 1930s home in Atlanta (the midtown area). It is a wonderful home! The previous owners built an addition with a huge family room and we are having a hard time figuring out how to use all of the space. There is also an old bathroom downstairs that has some good qualities, but many outdated aspects too. Would LOVE to have your help!!!!!
Allyson
I HAVE AN EXCUSE FOR BEING LATE TO THE PARTY — I had LASIK eye surgery on Thursday, and this is the first time I’ve been online since! I’m loving this idea! Here is my situation: We are a military family and will be moving to the tropical island of Oahu on July 7th! We have signed a 3-year lease on a rental and are looking forward to making the house our home. Forget a weekend on the Gulf–how about a week in the Pacific! We’d love to host you!
Jackie
Hi Kevin and Layla,
We’d love to welcome you to Louisville, Kentucky! Our home is three years old, with bland neutral walls, hardwood floors and wide open spaces. We need color, character and charm! I posted a link to a Flckr account with photos of our space. Good luck with your project!
Jackie

Absolutely Positively YES!!!!! You can re-do any room in my entire house! I live in Bakersfield, California 🙂

I LOVE your blog and am very inspired by your style. We would be honored and blessed beyond belief to be considered for a renovation. My husband and I bought our cozy two-bedroom, one bath condo near Ann Arbor, MI when we only had one daughter. We thought we would only be here for a year before moving on to plant a church with some friends, but that wasn’t what He had in mind. Now we have three beautiful daughters (one adopted from Kenya!–check out our blog), and due to the current housing market, it looks like we are going to be living here for awhile. We like our place, but there are so many ways we could make it better and more livable for us and our girls for the long haul. There are no words to express how humbled and excited we would be to work with you to do that. My man and I are hard workers and love to do projects together. We promise to jump in whole-heartedly with both feet. So what do you say? Want to come to Ann Arbor?
Stefanie Decker
Kevin & Layla,
I know I missed the deadline, but my birthday was yesterday and I spent the whole weekend outside away from computers 🙂 We have a cottage near the water in Vicksburg, Michigan, which is on the west side of the state. It needs some love! Our entire family is very handy and we would be able to lend a SERIOUS hand to any projects!!
Odile Kerester
Hey Kevin and Layla!
Great idea! Your dream has come true! I would love option B- I dabble in decorative painting and would love the chance to try a mural! Let me know if you come out to Massachusetts (30 miles south of Boston).
Good luck!
Jessica
oooooo!!! i know i’m late but we NEED you in Eastern North Carolina!!!
Sarah
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for you to come to my house!!! We live in Harrisburg, PA and bought a small ranch last year that we gutted and have just finished the basics of our remodel. Right now we’re at the point where the walls and floors are good, the layout is how we want it, and we just put in a new kitchen, but it’s very un-decorated. I love your style and have always said that someday when my house is done it will look a lot like yours but I’m having a hard time knowing where to start. The only room that truly feels done is our 6-month old’s. I can go to my mom’s and help her and have a ton of ideas, but in my own house, I’m stuck. We’re very handy. I sew and my husband has remodeled our whole house. You can do anything you want! I know I would love it because I’ve yet to see an idea of yours that wasn’t awesome and you seem like such a fun couple. If you want to see pics let me know. I have a bunch on my FB. Thanks! Can’t wait to see whatever you do!
Alyssa
i have a couple design/Reno challenges you could help us take on. We are renting a 1920s bungalow in South Minneapolis, MN and I’m sure we could get the landlords on board. The itty bitty bathroom needs lots of help and our 4 season porch needs some direction and purpose. I think there are probably lots of renters also wanting to know what they can do that’s not permanent to make a rental house feel like home.
Kirsten
Layla & Kevin,
I’d love to help you out! I live in the lovely city of Iowa City, IA. I”m a renter, so any of my rooms would be a bit of a challenge to do, but I’d be happy to help at someone else’s project. I’m a carpenter/painter/seamstress capable of tackling most anything. Let me know if you’re coming to the Midwest!

Our door is ALWAYS open for friends (or e-friends). I’m a big fan and would gladly welcome your style and flair 🙂

Hello,
I have a few rooms that could use a redo. I live in an older home built in the early 1900’s….a wrap around porch and some other quaint details. We have done a lot to the house, but still have more to do. We live in Brenham, Texas…home to Blue Bell Ice Cream. Ironically, we bought this house from one of the Blue Bell families. We also live about 20 minutes from the famous Round Top antiques fair.
I have experience doing a lot of things… painting, sewing, gardening. I used to own a brick and mortar shop selling antiques and home decor before we moved to this area over five years ago.
Here are a couple of friends that live near-by.

and, you probably know that Rachel Ashwell just bought a place in this area as well!

Thanks for your consideration!

I love your work, and I just moved into a 3400 sq ft house in the Greenfield Hill area of Fairfield, CT!!! I would KILL for this opp. Here are some pics to give you and idea.

The house is an empty slate. Every room is *fine* (sigh), but they really ALL need to be redone. It’s a pretty blase center hall colonial that imho has a TON of potential.
Regardless, wishing you both the BEST of luck on this venture.
xo,
Julia

WOWEEEE!!!! Exciting I have tons to redo over here. I’m pretty creative until I start to redo my own home I’m like a dog chasing its tail. And ya you guessed right I’m an Okie!!
amy maze
yes, please come and help me redo some of my house! it is a charming 1988 brick cottage house in nashville, tn and i’d love for you to get your hands on a room or two! it was a foreclosure when i bought it 2 years ago and is slowly being brought into this decade!! i’ll show you my favorite thrift or antique stores while you are in town!!
Heather
I would so be up for option A! I live in Simi Valley Ca with my husband and two small kids…I wish I had the time to do the decorating and designing on my own, but I would love some help from the two of you. You guys always have great ideas!
Simply Complex
I totally missed the deadline because we were out of town but I would be SO VERY INTERESTED in this! I figured it’s never too late to try. We moved into our house two months ago and are still living in boxes. Partially because we were focusing all of our energy on selling our other house (which we closed the deal on last Thursday- yay!) and partially because I have no idea where to start. The house is wonderful but a complete mess- dirty walls, bad patch jobs from the previous owners, and the kids bedrooms are bright pink, bright blue, and bright purple. YUK! The rest of the house is neutral (brown) and a little on the dark side. The Master bath has mixed fixture colors- silver faucets and dark bronze lights. So much to do and I don’t know how to do it. This beauty was a foreclosure and has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I really, really, really want things done to our taste and it could be so beautiful.
I live in O’ Fallon MO- on the outskirts of St. Louis. (and my family is from Wells, MN) Come on Layla, I totally want this!

I would love your help on my kitchen, I love how you transformed your house. I live in a 1910 foursquare in Binghamton, NY. The house needs tons of work. We are in the planning stages for redoing the bathroom and master bedroom, adding a half bath and refinishing the floors and stair runner.
Claire
I need help finishing my bathroom and gutting my bedroom! My husband is a “do-it-yourselfer” so the process has been over 6 years now! He is spread too thin between our organic farm & the house renovations. I’m ready to FINISH and get some great design advice! We are near Baton Rouge, LA. Here are pics of the house: share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8QbsW7No0cuMg
and here is a CMT music video that was recently shot at my house:

Come on over! We live in Northwest Arkansas and are (slowly) re-doing an older home that sits in a wonderful neighborhood on about 1.5 acres. We’ve done a lot but could certainly use a boost of “Layla” ideas!
stacey
We live by the beach. In CALIFORNIA. Come visit. Help me with my kitchen. It is cute but dysfunctional. Needs TLC and storage that doesn’t involve me on my hands and knees digging things out of the cupboard and chasing everyone out because they are in the way! And then I will make you some very fresh salmon with lots of local white wine.
Melanie
I know the deadline has come and gone, but we were entertaining all weekend long! Our 1960’s home is in need of a makeover! We live in Brecksville, Ohio 🙂
Jen
Layla and Kevin,
Hope its not too late to respond…I thought I’d emailed you but saw this morning that it had failed…
I’m the gal with the ugly off-set fireplace that you prestoed for me. Would you like to come re-do it in person? Or any room in my house for that matter? I’m in Niantic, CT (lovely little shoreline town, close to NYC and Boston, the casinos, many great musical venues, hmmm, what else can I think of to sway you…lovely french fabric importer next town over, lots of great salvaged furniture/antique stores nearby, we even have an IKEA!). We can swap stories and paint the day away. Hope you come!!!
Jessica
Hi there! Hope it’s not too late . I live in Georgetown, Texas (just north of austin). Y’all would love it hear — great music scene for Kevin. I am willing to help with anything (sewing, painting, woodwork…whatever) and be helped with everything! 🙂
Wishing you all the best with this venture. Can’t wait to see what all you do!
Angela | the painted house
You two are made for tv–how exciting! I’ll be watching.
And you know I would love to help with any painting/art you need. 🙂
All the best!!!
Lizzie
I have a terrible case of wall to wall carpet in our salt lake city rental. Would love help with some sort of temporary solution that helps to make the rest of our rooms look better. Would be happy to help with someone elses Reno in the salt lake city area.
Jessie H
I LOVE this! Congratulations you two! TLC at my house? Yes, please! I am no design mastermind but I would love to help out with other projects too so you can put me down for A or B:) I am in good old Greenwood, IN.

This is wonderful!!!!! I need all the help I can get!!! We bought our house in Maud, TX a couple of years ago knowing we had a lot of work to do but are so overwhelmed that we can’t seem to get any room completed. The house was built in 1914 and there is so much to do. We have 2 daughters living at home and are always so consumed with working on the house it is hard to just put it all aside and devote more time to the girls.
Nikola
I would love to have you help me with a room or rooms. I can help with painitng, sewinging….whatever. I am in Richmond, TX (near Hiouston). Good luck on this!
