Greetings!
We have some exciting news to share today! We’ve been working on something “design TV-related” for a while now, and we’re really excited about the direction it’s moving in.
Think: our blog in 3D…meaning, low-dough/high-smile room redos, real-life DIY adventures, and lots of YOU!
At this point, we need to see if you’d be into A) having us over to help you redo a room or two (or three!), and/or B) helping us redo someone’s elses space(s). (Maybe you’re a mural artist, or a seamstress, or you’d just like to lend a helping hand by painting a wall or working on a craft project with us, etc.)
We also need to know what area you live in. (City/State/Country) (You can live anywhere, and every comment will be read!)
We hoping to round up as many responses as we can in the next 48 hours, so if you’re interested, and you have time to leave a comment, please do!
We’re working with some super-talented and creative folks and they’re very interested in seeing the response to this post, so please don’t be shy, and thank you so much! We’ll definitely keep you posted and we hope to hug you soon!
PS- We’d also like to invite you to join us on Facebook & Twitter!
(We’re seeking responses on those sites too! Thank You!)

wellllllll…..Let me be the first to say that I drive by your house everyday taking my baby girl to kindergarten and I’m tempted daily to stop by and beg at your front door to help me with my house. I’m in Millbrook. Love the outside of my house. Hate the inside. Can’t get it right. I feel like I’m living in the middle of a snicker’s bar- everything is brown and nutty. We’ve tried to fix it, with good intentions, but the painter we hired was arrested on his lunch break. No, I’m not kidding. I don’t even know where to start. We’ve been in our house 5 years and built it from scratch. But it looks like a cookie cutter house inside. My little girl even told me last week that she wish we had picked our neighbor’s house to live in. There wouldn’t be alot of tearing-down so to speak. And there’s nothing behind our walls that would make your heart stop except coke cans and cigarettes (and probably other unmentionables) left from the workers who put up our sheet rock. I guess it would be more of an improvement thing. So, if you want to come down the road a couple of miles, I’m here. I’ll be the one eating the snicker’s bar in the driveway. ha!

Would y’all be interested in helping w/ a small beach walk cottage at Edisto Beach, SC? I’ve been trying to
brighten up this little house for years with little success. The dilimna: a living/dining/kitchen combination room.
I’m painting it white and adding bead board. I would love to make this room more liveable and light…..like the
designs you and Kevin have highlighted in your e-magazines. I sure need help as I just can’t seem to make it
happen!!! Edisto is a beautiful place; would welcome you here!!!

My parents, both immigrants, bought their first house just a year and a half ago. They are both working 2 jobs and I’m away in college, so there’s nobody to fix up the house even though we all really want to. Your help would be absolutely amazing!
Abbey
Yes, yes, yes, I LOVE YOUR BLOG, you give me so many ideas, but I have so little time! I live in Park City KS and would let you redo anything you wanted!!!
Maryann @ Domestically-Speaking
Oh my fun-ness! I would LOVE for you guys to come help makeover a few rooms in my home. I am REALLY wanting to tackle the kitchen right now. The cabinets are in good condition (2005 home), but they are the boring builder maple – ick… I am wanting them cream’ified. I have the cheap linoliem builder, fake tile too.. yuck! I’d love to get the family room (flows out from the kitchen done too). We live in So. Cal.
Laurie
Sign me up! My family and I live in our 12 year old boring tract house – which at this point is outdated AND boring – and I would love any help at all making a warm and cozy home for us.
Jacki
Hi Kevin and Layla! Can you help me help an older woman (widow) from our church to fix up her kitchen or more. She’s been wanting me to fix hers up but I don’t have the strength to do everything. I don’t want to mess it up. It would be a BLESSING! She has a tacky wallpaper on the kitchen, nasty linoleum flooring and dirty-looking beige mouldings. She also wants to repaint the walls. Maybe, if you would come over, we could work on our bathrooms too. We are in New Bern, NC.
Jaime
Wow! What an amazing opportunity. We live in McKinney,TX and just bought our first house. We need to integrate our individual styles and our quirky art and antiques into our new “beige box.” All while making sure our two little boys and our even smaller dog have plenty of space to roam free. Since we homeschool I would love to see you do an awesome DIY class/playroom, but we are open to whatever. Good luck to you!
adina
Hey, hey…how awesome would it be!! Our basement which is being refinished as I type and upstairs living room are in dire need. And for option B) i can go with sewing and quilting if that helps you. 🙂
I’m in suburban Chicago.
Tanya Adama
Love your blog! Love your style! Im in Elk grove California and would love to have you help me or I can help you!!
Carolyn
I am getting to redo my 1960’s ranch kitchen on a modest budget (plan to paint my wood cabinets which are in great shape). We also rough finished a basement that could use some nice touches. Heck, the whole house could use your magic wand. I can sew, and paint. Just need you. I live in Marietta, GA!
Laura
Oh my goodness! This would be a dream come true!!!!!!
I would LOVE for you to come help us with our house. We live just east of Columbus, Ohio, and have a house that as far as we can gather was built right around 1900. It’s an awesome old house, but needs some TLC. And by that I mean you guys! 🙂 We have been working on it a little at a time, but it just needs to be done already! I told my friend just recently, ” I would so love to have Kevin and Layla come do my house! I would love anything they did – Their style is so me!”
And as far as helping out with someone else’s project – I’d love to!! My friends are always asking me to come paint or decorate in their houses. It’s my idea of fun!
Can’t wait to hug YOU! 😉
Laura
Oh, and my husband…he would totally hug you (and Kevin for that matter) – if you would come and relieve him of the never-ending honey-do list that never gets honey-done! 😉
robin
Sounds fun! My husband and I just recently purchased a tiny old house. We are first time home owners. We did a simple renovation, but the house needs character. Due to the house’s small size (under 1000 sqft) I am always afraid to make any major design decisions because I am afraid of making the house look and seem smaller. We live in the New Orleans metro area. Please help 🙂
Barbara Tobler
I desperately need to have my masterbathroom updated! I have a MAUVE jetted tub and brass plumbing fixtures. Enough said? Could seriously stand some organizing help in the closet. I live in the beautiful shadow of the Rocky Mountains in Salt Lake City, Utah.

OMG…that is crazy awesome news! Sending good juju your way because that would be an amazing adventure. My family and I (hubby Mike, 5.5 yrs – Kyra, 3.5 yrs – Linden, 11 mos – Finley (all little ladies) and the Griffon dog – Barley) moved into a cottagey/lofty house a little over two years ago. We live in a quaint town called Watertown, MN. I am a crafty/artsy little lady…and my older girls are quite artsy as well (sewing – a tad, painting, drawing, photography, a bit of pottery, metal work…and hubby is pretty handy; building an awesome tree house for the kids, building a fence, and deck as we speak). We have many house projects (great bones, but want to add “our stamp”…and the next project is to finish the basement and spruce up the master bedroom) to this cute maison. We would most definitely pitch in as much as we could…and would be willing to help anyone else in the area as well!
Best wishes to what may come to you!
Rachel
Kevin & Layla, the coffee is ready for you here in Ohio. Stop in anytime!!
I love to decorate but I am really scratching my head these days.
We just bought a red pb farmhouse headboard. Love it!! We just need to tie it all in to make a cozy master bedroom. Our family also bought 2 new Ikea sofas that need worked into our living room. It is time for the builder’s gold to go too!! Drives me silly.
If you’re really up for it. The kitchen cabinets need painted. My brother does that for a living, so I am sure he can swing by and lend a hand. He did paint Nicholas Sparks cabinets. Nicholas Sparks doesn’t know that it was my little bro. They never came face to face but he did. Cool huh?!!
If you stop by we can head on over to Ikea!! It is just a hop, skip and a jump away.
Hope to see you here in our little small town that is tucked in Ohio…

I think yall should come to Memphis, the Home of Rock and Roll. I have seen several posts from people who live close. I would be happy to help with a project.
kristen
We can use your help in Camarillo, CA! We just bought our first home and I’m having such a hard time with the living/family room. It would be so fun to see you in person!! Please come to beautiful CA 🙂
Nicole
Would love to help in some way. I love working on creative projects and I’m a great treasure hunter…I basically live for garage sales. I definitely wouldn’t have to be persuaded to have a room redone either…I have a love/hate relationship with my house – it would be great to make it a love/love. Either way it sounds like exciting opportunities await you – lots of luck!! I’m a Jersey girl – specifially Northern NJ, USA!
Rachael
Yes please!!! I would love some design help! We have a brand new home but need some help! We are in Cincinnati, OH 🙂
allison w
YES! Yes! yes! We own a 200 year old farmhouse in central New York (Syracuse). I think the kitchen is 300 years old (just kidding). But it is pretty bad and so difficult to work in! I have three kids and a husband who is chronically M.I.A. Consequently, I’m great at ordering out, utilizing way too many paper plates, and burning the occasional home cooked meal. I also have a knack for starting many a home improvement project and finishing it 2-3 years later! I admire all that you do and desperately need your HELP!
BTW congrats on the new opportunity. You sooooooo deserve it!
Heather
I live in Roanoke, Texas which is pretty much right smack between Dallas and Fort Worth.
I would be over the moon happy to have ANY assistance with our home! From the layout and design of our master bedroom, to a fun and functional play room, to lightening up our front room, to kicking our kitchen up a notch and bringing it into the modern world.
I would also be willing to help with any makeovers you do in my area! I can sew (not a fabulous seamstress, but I have sewn a few wedding dresses!), and can work work work!
Pam
I live in Nashville and have a fiancee in Alabama. I have a background in design and art, so if you need help with a project, option B, give me a call.
evelania
Um…dream come true? Yes, please! We are near Killeen, TX. We have a room we currently use as an office but needs an update. I was thinking of either keeping it as the office or turning it into a guest room and making our current guest room the office. I love your style and would welcome a transformation from you two! I can help with painting for sure or crafts. Unfortunately I’m not much of a sewer but I do have a friend with an awesome sewing machine 🙂
Melissa
If you will come you can have your pick of which room needs a make over. I love your charm and welcoming style. I keep hinting to the hubs all the great things we could do, but so far he has yet to find the motivation to rip into the walls. 🙂 I live in beautiful Cache Valley in Northern Utah.
Rene'
Come on over to Stillwater, OK you can do as much of the house you want. I can help, I can paint, sew, and can with direction do just about any thing else. I look forward to you coming to my house! Do you take bribes?????????
Katrina Henry
Oh my, that would be so amazing!! I would love to have you redo any number of rooms in my home. Eugene, Oregon is the place to be – beautiful summers, mild winters! Please please please… 😉
Anita @ GoingalittleCoastal
a)Yes and b)Yes. Either or Both would be great with me! I would gladly pick up a paint brush or sew some curtains. Whatever you need. I’m in Niceville FL. (stop laughing)

This is just too cool. I would love to see you come to Cinti. Ohio. I have so many things going on in our house and it would be so nice to have your input.

Hi Layla-
We are in Montgomery, ALA-
I’m fairly crafty, and take directions well- Hubby is an amazing artist, but we’ve never taken the time to do much with our bedroom (which also doubles as my workshop where I make hairbows as a little side biz.) Or, our living room could use some love- 12 ft ceilings and I am afraid of heights- top edges of the paint job don’t look to pretty.
: )
Or, the kitchen- right now it’s crime-scene red- with lots of Coke stuff. Love the coke, but need a plan for the rest.
would love your insights!

Soooo many comments, but I want in too!!! We (husband, wife, 4 young kids and a cat) live in West Virginia and bought our first home less than two years ago. It is a 1929 foursquare, and we’d love help with any room! Mostly though, we have a long skinny living room that I am at a loss as what to do with it. We have an antique piano and a fireplace in this room. I can’t find a focal point! Help!!! Or, if you are up to doing a yard (new ventures?) we have a yard that just lost its only big tree and now it feels naked. Makes ME feel naked. Don’t even know where to start!
Shannon A
I would absolutely love it if you came to re-do a couple rooms of our home in the Cincinnati, OH area! We have a brand new home and have not been able to decorate & furnish it quite yet, and I’m SO ready to do it! I think you’ll have a blast with with all the wonderful things that can be done here! I also would be more than willing to lend a hand for someone else’s home too.
Thanks!

Kevin & Layla!
I would be honored to have you re-do any of my rooms. I love your design style and all of your DIY projects! My living room and kitchen would be a great choice or master bedroom!! I can paint, and can help with any other projects! I am eager to learn from you both. Oh and my mom can sew! I live in Bonney Lake, Washginton, and believe me I could use come more lettered cottage style in my life. :)) Thanks and God Bless.
Laura
“Kevin and Layla, come on down! You’re the next designers on Texas Needs Remodeling!!!” From the looks of the comments, Texas (especially Dallas/ Ft. Worth) needs the most help. How about a Texas series? Then maybe a Minnesota series, California, etc? If you came to Texas, you and Kevin could go to Round Top, and we would all be your entourage! Then we will help you do whatever you ask. Looking forward to hearing about your upcoming trip to North Richland Hills, TX (suburb of Ft. Worth). We’ll leave a light on for you!

I would love for you to come to Providence Utah! I would LOVE to help out with any of your projects and would especially LOVE for you to come and redo a room for me!!! It is beautiful here, and you would love it so come on by!

I have been keeping tabs on your blog just following what great ideas that you have come up with. And with that being said I live in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and would love for you to create some magic for me in my kitchen and living room and possibly a dream master room. My Kitchen opens to my living room and would love for it to flow and I need a cozy place for me to relax after a long day with the kiddos. If you make it this way I hope to see you and I am not a real seamstress but I do sew some so if ever you need anything when your here let me know.
thanks and have a great journey

Boy Howdy!!! Come on over to the Pacific Northwest! I’ve got a room or two or three that I would love some Layla and Kevin touches in! I even have a very cute doggy that would love a play date! I live outside of Portland, Oregon. Come on over for a visit!
Tiffany
You guys must come out to Oregon! My sister and her family just bought this adorable cottage in Lake Oswego but it needs some help. It’s short on space and storage but big on potential. I’d be happy to send pictures!

Come visit the heartland in Girard, Ks. I have a 70’s ranch style home I’ve been working on for years. My kitchen needs lots of help!!Or feel free to scrounge through my garage and find the perfefct use for my treasures. I volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, sew, paint, rip out walls, lay tile, install windows and siding, helped build a fireplace surround for my daughter. Would love to help someone else with their remodel.

My husband and I have lived in our townhouse in Newark, Delaware for three years. We’ve successfully fixed up most of the house except one room: the basement. We are expecting our first little one in 10 weeks (mid July) and we’d love to fix up the basement to be a combo “man room” get-away for my hubby as well as a baby-friendly “play room”. We are currently dealing with concrete floors, drop ceiling lighting and terrible fake wood paneling that I tried to salvage by painting white, but it was hopeless. We’d love your help!!
Leigh
Another TEXAS request here…I’m in a Houston jewel that needs a lot done – you guys can redo the whole thing!!! [And my son would love Kevin’s BAND advice 😉 ] I am also a pretty fair seamstress if you need one. I don’t have a blog yet, but would start one for this! So exciting!!
Brigitte
You can definitely come to my house (after I move into it in July). We are moving to Woodinville, WA (outside of Seattle). The house is beautiful, in general, but it’s 16 years old and needs a little updating.
We’d be open to outdoor design too. We are moving because our current house has a postage stamp sized and sloped lot, which we foolishly bought pre-kids. Now we have 3 toddlers (17 month old twins and a 3 1/2 year old) and no outdoor space AT ALL for them to play. The new house will have a nice yard, but there are some issues. A huge cedar (and likely rotted) planter box is one thing. Also the flattest piece of land which is ideal for the playset is the drainfield for the septic system. They said we can install it over it as long as we don’t dig up any dirt, but we would have to move it if there are any problems down the road. We bought a large playset from Costco already because we were worried they would run out before we take possession. My 3 year daughter has been begging for (and we have been promising) a new backyard for months, and now that she sees the boxes in the garage, she can hardly stand it. I can’t wait to see her reaction the first time she gets to go outside and swing “high to the sky” or play in her “barn” (the playhouse attached to the set).
But anyway, there are plenty of opportunities to update the inside too. 🙂
Brigitte
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I can sew, paint, and am pretty handy so I’m happy to help. Both option A and B

1975 Brick Ranch HUGE open floor plan, which I have had a hard time trying to define/decorate each area. We are 20 minutes from Charlotte, NC. And 15 minutes from the fabulous Metrolina Antique Show!!!! I would be honored to have Layla and Kevin as guests.
gail
I would love your fabulous help redoing some rooms. I’m a single gal who lives in a cute 1940’s red brick ranch. I am desperate to update my kitchen (and other rooms as well). I am all about frugal redos with vintage inspired style. Not only would this be the cherry on top but the whip cream too.
Ang
Are you kidding me?! Yes! Come. I have a whole house, minus one bedroom for you-(my husband recently redid my daughter’s room). We purchased an early 1900s home which has wonderful character hiding beneath a 70s/80s facade of shag carpet and brown and peach wallpaper. We have a very cool attic space waiting to be transformed. We’re very much into lo-dough/hi-smile transformation.
We live in a small town in central Pennsylvania. I’d be happy to supply our specific address in a more secure location.
*We can share Ethiopian adoption stories 🙂 We have 2 toddlers who came home last year from ET.
Tracy @ Cotton Pickin Cute
Hey Kev and Layla. Congratulations on all the positive things coming your way. Ya’ll have really worked hard to bring those good things about.
We have a 1920’s house in Jacksonville, FL. that has been redone, I that back, it’s been being remodeled for years now. Though we need help in absolutely every area one of the easiest would be the living room / dining room combination. We’re now adding trim molding to the windows but I’m at a loss at how to decorate the way I want. It’s now in warm yellow/greenish tones and our couch is in a brownish green chenille. There’s lots of trim modeling and that and the ceilings are painted in a couple of soft creamy beige/yellowish color. I’m totally wanting a brighter coastal look. I live on the water with tons of big windows but just can’t figure out the color problem since we have to keep the couch for budget or should I say no money = no budget reasons. I was going to try to keep the same ceiling and modeling colors for the same reason.
You can see some before and afters of our house here.

Here’s the colors in the living room now:

We need you desperately. Sorry about this being so long but I really am hoping that I have a chance to meet ya’ll and get your expertise at my house.
And if you wanted a bigger project I have a whole new 20×20 ft room that we started and can’t afford to put flooring in so it’s a blank slate with lots of window but not even painted. We’ve had a lot of issues with my 90 year old MIL’s illness, family death, business and the horrible economy. Btw, we’re pretty handy and have done all the tear outs, built on a wrap around porch, sheet rocking, painting and just about anything else you can think of. I think we’re just burnt out and need some encouraging help. PLEASE RESCUE US!!! I’m always happy to help.
I’d be willing to help on anyone else’s project too.
I just love reading your blog and the Tybee Island cottage was so awesome. Thanks for everything.
Thanks, Tracy 🙂

I live in Coffeyville, KS, (one hour north of Tulsa) and I would love to have some help with my patio. Right now it is a large cement slab and I need help figuirng out how to make it pretty and shaded without spending alot of money. I would love for it to feel like an extension of our house (a room without walls) rather than the grey slab before the green grass starts.
Jean
hey Layla and Kevin,
I live in Forest City NC with my husband of 25 years and we are newly empty nesters with an attic and garage full of DIY treasures, cast off furniture and home decor items plus a closet full of fabric! You naturally could choose any room in my 100+year old home that started it’s life originally as an old country church but sadly doesn’t resemble that in any fashion today. You could start with the scarred up hard wood floors if you choose to redo the living room, master bedroom or empty nest room that we would love to convert to guest room/library/work out room or perhaps you’d be interested in making the subflooring in the dining room look amazing with a cheap but inspired DIY magic redo or maybe my collection of antique mantels will inspire you to do what has never been done before in home design…who knows? but I will love working with you and as a chef I promise to feed you well while you’re here and since my husband works for a building materials supplier I can promise you we have everything from doors, windows, lumber and various other random buidling materials stacked here and there around the garage, in storage, etc for you to rummage thru…
Clare
We live in Albany, GA. Our living room in particular with its red brick fireplace needs some TLC! We have plenty of other opportunities, as well. We would love to help, too, if y’all are in the area.
