Greetings!
We have some exciting news to share today! We’ve been working on something “design TV-related” for a while now, and we’re really excited about the direction it’s moving in.
Think: our blog in 3D…meaning, low-dough/high-smile room redos, real-life DIY adventures, and lots of YOU!
At this point, we need to see if you’d be into A) having us over to help you redo a room or two (or three!), and/or B) helping us redo someone’s elses space(s). (Maybe you’re a mural artist, or a seamstress, or you’d just like to lend a helping hand by painting a wall or working on a craft project with us, etc.)
We also need to know what area you live in. (City/State/Country) (You can live anywhere, and every comment will be read!)
We hoping to round up as many responses as we can in the next 48 hours, so if you’re interested, and you have time to leave a comment, please do!
We’re working with some super-talented and creative folks and they’re very interested in seeing the response to this post, so please don’t be shy, and thank you so much! We’ll definitely keep you posted and we hope to hug you soon!
PS- We’d also like to invite you to join us on Facebook & Twitter!
(We’re seeking responses on those sites too! Thank You!)
Courtney

Hey I would love love love some help. I am trying to convert the style of our home to my style from that of my mom’s. We live in Overland Park, KS, and there is so much opportunity I don’t know where to start. We (Paul and Molly) have one sweet daugther, who has been fighting a rare medical condition that prevents her from eating, and 2 dogs, Herbie and Tilly Bea (she’s deaf).
Shelley
Oohh Oohh Oohh!!! Feeling like a first grader who can’t get her hand up high enough! (as in “pick me, pick me”!!!) Now that I’ve gotten that out – you guys are perfect for a TV gig – best of luck!!!

Pick me, Pick me, Pick me!!!!!!! 🙂 Would love to have a kitchen makeover, we have this hideous tile back splash that has flowers painted all over it, with hideous popcorn ceilings, hideous box light, walls that should be knocked down. The list goes on and on and on. We live in Van Alstyne, Tx, Hope to see you soon in our neck of the woods!

Kevin & Layla, I would love your help at redecorating our house. We had it on the market and the biggest complaints were kitchen and bathrooms. It would be great to have you come in and redo those rooms for us. We will gladly pitch in with a paintbrush, sewing, running for materials or whatever we can to help you make our rooms market ready. We have a 5,000 sq. ft. Tudor with brick/stone on the front, 4 bedroom, 4 1/2 bath. 3 fireplaces, with 6 garages, pool with a huge screen house and 1 acre of land. It was built in 1986 and is located in Stilwell, Kansas. Please come help us as we want to sell so we can retire and move to warmer winter weather and a much smaller house. We’d love to retire in a quaint little cottage, just like yours, somewhere in Florida or Hilton Head, S.C. close to the ocean. Your creative ideas and decorating talent are exactly what I love. But first we must sell this one. I follow you on Facebook and have looked at your blog for a long time. Please come help us!!

We live in Issaquah, WA (just outside of Seattle) and need some help with our master bedroom. We had plans to redo our bedroom and then we got pregnant…two kids rooms later we still don’t have a finished bedroom.
Also, we have a huge dining/kitchen area and a large wall that I have no idea what to do with. Would love your practical, budget-friendly design help!!!
Celeste
Oh WOW!! I’d LOVE love LOVE to participate!! I have been neglecting our family room/playroom ever since we moved in. It was an old 70’s Billiard Room, complete with Plastic “Tiffany” pool table chandelier, wetbar, wine glasses shelf, mahogony wood paneling, horrible carpet over ever horribler vinyl, these crazy tile ceiling panels like in a hospital, and a raised concrete block that’s about 12″ by 12″ running the entire distance of the long wall along the floor. It’s ready for a make-over for sure!!! We’re in the San Francisco Bay Area in CA! Please come help!!
Cassie
Well, I don’t have any design-related talents to share, but you guys can come redo ANY room in my house, ANY time!!! That would be amazing! I’m in Portsmouth, OH.
Michelle
I would be willing to help if you were in my area, and I would love for you to come redo ANY room in my house! I’m in the metropolitan St. Louis, Missouri area.
Jett Bocz
I live in Cartersville, GA! I would love for you to redo my house! It needs help!
Katherine
We welcome your creative talents in our home! I live in Columbia, SC. My husband & I moved from a charming 1920s bungalow into a large, fixer-upper brick Georgian about 5 years ago. We liked having room to grow…though we did underestimate the scope of needed renovations. Happily, despite the many DIY projects that stretched into the wee hours, we are still talking to each other!
Slowly, we’ve made necessary structural changes, but we struggle with adding design elements that suiit both our young family and our budget. Our oldest child is 5 and baby #4 arrives in mid-June. All girls. And yes, somedays it feels overwhelmingly crazy. 🙂
Project Idea #1: We have an unfinished third floor, about 700 feet, with great-potential-9-foot-high-ceilings, 5 skylights, and 5 dormer niche windows…perfect for something…and we haven’t a clue on what to do with the space.
Project Idea #2: Our 25 year old kitchen needs a major facelift. We do have solid walnut cabinets, but the stains are yucky, the countertops icky, and the room is in constant use as you can imagine. It’s time for us to replace appliances yet we don’t want to make decisions without a plan (and a budget).
Selling point? You could stay in our cozy guest room above the garage, complete with a private full bath and pretty wallpaper!
Your many ideas have already so inpsired me. I cannot wait to see where this new phase leads y’all!

I’m way out west in N. California (Sacramento area to be specific)! I would be glad to help you redo someone’s room by building designer furniture/built-in’s for a fraction of the cost (as in… only the materials). PB, West Elm, RH, you name it. Sure beats having to buy it!

We live in Hillsboro, Oregon in an award winning planned community. Our condo is up for sale. I would love to have you take a look and see if you have any suggestions. Our budget is limited but we are very creative and retired! I love this blog and subscribe to your email feed.

This is wild and exciting for you two, and anyone lucky enough to work with ya’ll. I was seriously just thinking that you guys needed a show. Every time I check something out on HGTV online that I love, Layla has her fingers in it. I live in St. Louis, MO.

Hi! I think my mom’s house is always in need of some TLC! She lives in Panorama City, CA. It’s an old home that we’ve slowly updated. The garage-turned-den needs help to make it feel cozy. My hubby and I actually just added a mantel a la Layla-&-Kevin style and looks fabulous, but it still needs more work as it working hard trying to be a tv room/office/playroom for the grandkids (w a bathroom in a corner).
and yes, we’d (I’m volunteering my hubby) would love to help others too!
Ivy
Hmmmmm…..let me think about it for a while…would I want you to do your magic at my house….or not?
Ummmmm…..yeah!!! And although I don’t have any special kind of talent, I would love to help. I can’t wait to see what you two do! What fun.
Ivy
I forgot: Olathe, Kansas. Who doesn’t want to go to Kansas?!

Yes! Your more than welcome to come to Milford, NH to help me redesign/decorate as many rooms as you’d like! We’ve got a guestroom, if needed for you, and a Golden Retriever puppy to play with Max! We’re 1 hour from Boston, 1 hour from seacoast, 1 hour from White Mountains. This sounds so exciting for you guys!
Megan
I would be overjoyed to have you come and redo any and every room in our home!
I’ve owned the home with my sister for a few years, and my husband (of almost 2 blissful years) and I moved into it a year ago when we came back to my hometown to care for and savor every moment with my mom as she battled cancer. I love our cozy home, but I envy the likes of the homes your blog showcases!
We live in Wenatchee, Washington. You’d love it here! We’re in a valley on the Columbia River that is full of cherry and apple blossoms at the moment!
Karen
I would welcome you into my home…I live in Rehoboth Beach, DE…come on over!
Jill
I would love if you came and redid a room or a few rooms at my house. We are quite busy with baby number two on the way and also share our home with two dogs and two cats. I also currently have a kitchen with red corian countertops and matching red tile floor that I have no idea what to do with economically. So please come to southern Minnesota!!!
lee ashley
I have a loft, guest room, and master bed/bath that could use some love in my beachy/vintage chic condo. I live in beautiful Huntington Beach, California 🙂
Rachel
Oh wow! Both would be so much fun – hey, I’d love to help – I can work a sewing machine or just paint a wall, whatever you need! And I definitley have some rooms that could use some help.
(so pick me!!)
I live in Arlington TX with my husband and 5 (yes, five) dogs!
Marilyn Shannon
Would love for you both to come to Fort Worth, Texas. We will mainly drink margaritas, but if there is some time to do a little work around the house that would be great too!!
Or I will come with you wherever and help you out!!
Ashley
I’m apparently a little late joining the throngs of commentors! My sister recently moved from California to Anniston Alabama to take care of my grandparents. In return for her help, they have given her a building they own in town in which she is going to start her own salon. She is having trouble finding things that match her style but work together for an overall vibe. She is a very cool kid and I know she would love love love some inspiration from you guys!!
Lori
Oh, how I would love for you to come work your magic on my house. I have a cottage like house with a tiny living room that I don’t know what in the world to do with it. Honestly, the whole house could use some help….I’d happily hand it over to you guys. I’d also be happy to help…just point me in the right direction. 🙂
I’m in Temecula, CA…..southern Cali, close to the wineries and an hours drive to the beaches (in case you need some tempting)
beth
Are you KIDDING? I’d love to have you re do a room or 5 in my house 😉 We moved into our new home about 2.5 months ago and it is built fantastically well, but it is an 80s colonial begging for some updates. Oak cabs, mauve spongepaint in the kitchen, tealy/seafoamy carpets in 2 rooms downstairs. But it has lots of other awesome things going for it. I’m in the Philly, PA burbs…Hatfield to be specific.
Arrie
Our poor kitchen needs help! I would love to see what “we” could do with it! Dallas, TX
Julie K
Hey there! We’d love some help with any number of rooms in our Seattle rambler. And I’d love to help if you were looking for volunteers 🙂
Jennifer
You could come to my house in Belton, Texas! But more than me, my parents in Dallas, Texas need your help in pretty much any and every room! And my sister in Houston, Texas just moved into her first apartment and could also use some major decorating help (on a budget!)
Jennifer
No need to think about it…….heck yes, Please!!! You are welcome to any space in our home, I would be happy to help as well. Thought we were moving so started to redo the house for resale, well…we had bonus baby, which made #4 and plans changed. Now we want the house to look and function for us!!!
I would be happy to help too, some artistic and seamstress skills but lots of diy gumption. We live about 3 hrs sw of chicago on the IA/IL border, Quad Cities. Love you two and we be proud to be a part of one of your plans. 🙂
CAROL
I would love some help in any room in my house…..DENVER, CO!
Melissa Shields
Hey Layla!! You can come redo a room at my house! I’m a newlywed and a new homeowner, so our home is pretty bare. We live in Hattiesburg, MS.
Cindy
Hi! I live in Pflugerville, TX in the Austin,TX metro area and would love to have you do a room redo. I can sew and make curtains, pillows, duvet covers, etc. I can also paint walls (not murals yet) and can paint furniture. I have lots of cute stuff to use in staging a room. Please pick me!
amy
I’d love help with the entry that comes in from our garage. Maybe the redo could even spill into the back wall of the garage a bit. We have 3 young girls and lot’s of shoes, backpacks, school work and other “stuff”. We don’t have the luxury of a mudroom, but we do have a bit of an entry area that is begging for TLC style storage and decor ideas! It’s the entry that gets the most use from friends and neighbors and i want it to welcome them in!! Or i’d love some help with our guest room/office space. I want everyone that stays with us to feel as comfortable as possible, but it can be tough with a computer and all my husband’s work in there too!
We’d love to see you up here in Rockford, MI!!!
Ann
Connecticut – a bedroom suburb of NYC. My husband commutes to NYC every day by train. You can stay with us and I am crafty and can sew. I have a 10 by 15 ft bedroom with two windows and a slightly slanted ceiling. This end of the house is a Dutch Colonial. The room has natural looking horizontal wainscoating. Maybe it is maple. This was my son’s bedroom. He died over six years ago and we don’t really know what to do with the room. One end has double paneled closet doors and a built in desk and shelves. The floor is carpeted, but there is hardwood underneath. I would like to do something with this bedroom, but I just can’t get started. There is a smaller similar bedroom next to it and my daughter’s room is next to this room also. We decorated these rooms twenty years ago, so they could use some updating. If you could help me with this I would be forever grateful.
My kitchen is from 1967, but that is another story. I hope this response from readers is enough to convince your potential producers that you are a viable candidate for a series. Sounds like a good idea to me and I will watch if it is Not on the DIY Network. I don’t get that and can’t find it anywhere. PS I have a pool.
Becky Jones
Yes, I’d love to have some help woth a little “den” type room off our dining room. I’d love to make it a reading room with built-in book places, maybe a faux fireplace. I’m in Rochester, NY.
Tara F
Hey!! I have a recently finished basement devoid of ANY style. And an exterior that needs a face lift… think landscaping and pretty paint colors. I live in a 1920’s Craftsman style house in a charming southern IL town just out side of St. Louis. Specifically, Lebanon, IL. I LOVE your style and would LOVE your help!!
Kate
Yes we’d love help! We had a dramatic beginning to home ownership (good story, I promise!) and have focused more on recovery than on design. We need major help and inspiration with our living room!
Kate
Oh, and in Amherst, MA!
Mandy Diercks
Hi – I would love to have you guys help in ANY of my rooms! I’m building a new home in Lucas, Tx, – a northern suburb of Dallas – but I want it to look a hundred years old – how do I do that? 🙂 Barring that crazy mission, I’d be MORE than happy to come be manual labor at any project anywhere near here! I have no discernable DIY talents but I’m willing and able! 🙂
Erin
I’d love to have you help us with a room!!! We just bought a foreclosed 1950s fixer upper. We have so much work to do, and I have ideas for a couple rooms, but definitely not all of them. The bathroom is in great need of an overhaul, as well as the master bedroom.
I also am good at sewing, art, and crafts in general if you’d need any help in the area.
We live half an hour from Pittsburgh, PA.
Amy
We would LOVE LOVE LOVE you to come do anything in our house. We live in the Los Gatos mountains in sunny California. We are on the way to Santa Cruz which is a must see when you are in the area. We live in a funky (with a capital F) mountain home that I would love to get your input on. It has a very, shall we say, interesting floor plan. The house is newer than most up here, but still has that “mountain feel”. That basically means there are several inexplicable aspects to our home. There is NO downstairs closet if you can believe. I have become creative out of necessity-I just want our home to feel like just that…a home for my family of 4. Love you guys…come out west!! 🙂

We are all the way up in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania but we love your design style! I love looking at all of your posts and getting new ideas for my own little cottage. I don’t know if you’d be willing to bring your new project up our way, but we’d love to see what kinds of ideas you would have for our cozy little place.
