Well, The Chapel Market went off without a hitch, and thankfully, so did my hair appointment. I’m officially cinnamon sugar-headed! 😀
Or strawberry lemonade, depending on what time of year it is. 😉
I got that cute Alabama t-shirt in the Lucy’s Lockets booth at the market. My friends, Laura Jean and Evan, each had to have one too:
Evan had his on within seconds of spotting them. I love that kind of enthusiasm, don’t you? That kind that seems to always pop up in the dressing room at Target, and triggers the: “would it be weird if I just wore this up to the register and cut the tag off with the cashier’s scissors?” dilemma. I know you know that kind of enthusiasm too. 😉
(Just in case anyone is curious- the shirts were made by Lucy’s friend, and her handle is “BebeJack” on Instagram.)
No booth for me at the Market this time around, so I spent the day wandering back and forth between the chapel and the tents…snapping pictures and chatting…exchanging big hello hugs and hopeful see-ya-again-soons.
And just like last year, for many folks, I noticed that the shopping seemed to take a backseat to the friendships forming and the conversations going on in and all around the chapel.
Once again, the vintage goods and pretty little things were really just a bonus.
Especially that blue trunk. Yep. That bonus came home with me. 🙂

I can see how it would be just a huge fest for all! Friends getting together and having a big reunion. Wish I could have been there. Did you even see anyone who wasn’t smiling??
jdbbella
Please do it again next year! I hate it missed it this weekend.
Paulette
Lucky me! My Sister and I were there. The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful and the Market was fabulous! Most wonderful was meeting the bloggers…Karianne, Marian, and YOU, Layla!! So glad I could come and hope I can make this an annual trip from Tennessee. 😉
Christy Keyton
It was just so fun! Thanks for all your hard work. I got my blue jelly cupboard from Miss Mustard Seed upstairs with the help of a bunch of teenage boys last night. It looks lovely – working on styling it now. Such a fun show! We are so blessed to have it in Alabama!
Julia G.
The Chapel Market looks like a lot of fun! And I like the cinnamon sugar head look!
Gwyn
Love the my old ky home scales. Do you still have it?
leslie
Isn’t it awesome! I have an old postal scale in my kitchen now and am always looking for an actual kitchen scale! I think that one is So cool!
Layla
I loved that one too, Leslie! So fresh and fun! 😀
Lynda
loved the “tour”! I’ve looked at all the treasures over and over. Wish I could have been there!
Cheapdiva
WHAT? How did I miss you? I was sure you had gotten the notice to go see Sweet P and that’s why you weren’t there . . . Was disappointed I did see you. Oh well, next year!
Layla
Oh no, I’ll be shouting it from the rooftops whenever we receive word that we can schedule our two-week trip to Haiti! 😀 I wish we could’ve met on Saturday too! XO
kristin
What a wonderful event you have created Layla! Love your cinnamon sugar-strawberry blond hair. Whew–I thought you were going dark. Your blond hair is a trademark (you know–what we have all come to know) so I am glad to see it is still light. Love that glorious cotton in the pics. And love the spoon key chains! So glad it all went well and you all had a wonderful time. I also think that it is best you are out and about, meeting and greeting, being the curator of the event and all. 🙂
Betsy
I found an absolutely gorgeous map chest with a concrete top. I can’t wait to see it in the new house! The best part? The industrial wheels!
Thanks, Calderones!
Betsy
AND the handmade farm tables by Dexter Watts were magnificent. I wish I had a place for one! I wonder who won the raffle for their adoption funds. [email protected] Maybe I can find a place for a bench!
Layla
Oh, I know- aren’t they just gorgeous, Betsy! I’m not sure who won the raffle…I’ll have to check with Patricia about that!
Belinda
it’s so funny that you called the shopping a bonus… that’s exactly what I told my girlfriends. Don’t get me wrong, the shopping is incredible and the booths are so inspiring but they actually paled next to the friendships we share there. One highlight was the “holy moment” we shared with you under the tent outside Saturday morning. Can’t wait to see Sweet P standing beside the Christmas tree with his new ornament and can’t wait to share more sister-moments with his mama.
Layla
Belinda, that was the BEST moment of all. I will NEVER forget it! XO
Laura of Finding Home
Layla – thank you so much for including us in such a beautiful event and for the best southern hospitality around! I could not have asked for a better way to launch our new venture – thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Layla
Thank YOU for coming down again, Laura! What a treat to get to see you TWICE in two years!! XO
Kaye Chastain
Oh Layla, I WILL be there next year!! Looks fabulous!! Only problem is, I want it all!!
Layla
Oh, it would be so fun to see you here next year, Kaye!! 😀
Gretchin
Meanwhile back in Kansas…this girl is enjoying all the pictures, getting inspiration for her little store, and wishing only the best for my favorite bloggers I see here all at the same time! Thanks for sharing, Layla!!
Layla
Thank you, Gretchin! What part of Kansas are you and your shop in? 🙂
Gretchin
My shop and I are in the north central part of the state in Osborne. I’ve been open here for 6 1/2 years and just moved my little workshop and store into a historical building on the bricks downtown. You can check it out on Facebook, Shabby Shed! Hope to get your way one of these days…it looks beautiful!
Lisa
Thank you Layla for hosting us at The Chapel Market! We had a great time. What a wonderful crowd of happy people. Anyone who missed out on this event missed a real treat!!

Looks wonderful! Hopefully I can get someone to cover my store next year so I can see first hand. Oh, love the hair too.
Layla
Thank you, Deneen! We’d love to see you next time!
Carolyn
Layla,
Love your new hair color. It says Autumn! I didn’t get to come again this year due to health but I am praying for good health next October.
Can you tell me the name or link of the person who had the sheets of white birch bark? Would love to order some.
Thanks, Cara
Layla
We’ll say a prayer for good health for you too, Cara. XO
The birch logs were in Shaunna’s Perfectly Imperfect booth. 🙂
Amy
LOVE these photos–I wish I lived closer to you all so I could join. I’m way up in MN!! Do these vendors have online shops? I loved the spoon art (looked like key chains maybe) and some of the signs….actually something in almost every picture!! I’d love to be able to support these local artists and business owners even though I’m not local to your area. Thanks for sharing a little bit of you with all of us.
Layla
Hi Amy!
Yes, a couple of them have online shops, but you can find most of them on their blogs! 🙂 Here’s a link to a previous post about them:

Layla,
In one of the pictures above there is a pillow that says Pike Road, Longitude 32′ 6n Do you remember which booth had that? I don’t remember seeing it there! I would love that pillow!

I hated to miss it. I had planned to make a girls day out of it but so many things came up last week that it was impossible.
Suzy Cacic
You have such a fun blog that I really enjoy following! I love the family atmosphere how you are so close to your family and friends – not to mention the killer decorating ideas!
I hated to miss this event.. maybe next time when I’m in the area! ;(
Kind regards,

Had a fabulous girls weekend with my mother, BFF, her mother, and sister. It was a great escape from reality with some really nice finds and relaxing along the way. However, somehow we ended up with someone else’s shopping bag in our trunk. We think it was picked up by someone in our group, and it was thought to be one of ours. However, it does not belong to any of us!!! We didn’t notice it until Sunday morning when we started to pack the car to make our journey back to Ga. I really want to return this to its rightful owner – ASAP!!! Some sweet lady is missing her great finds. Please message me if you are missing your bag of finds!!!
Vicki Crowe
I had such a good time and it was such a treat to see and meet some favorite bloggers! I made some purchases and hope to do it again next year. The location and setting is beautiful!

Mindy
The staging in all the booths is so great! And your hair is SUPER cute!!!!
Sunny
thanks for the walk through Layla..I really loved seeing everything…hard to find this type of thing where we live. I work in a home decor store and it really shines at Christmas but is a different type of style..and your hair looks great..
Dana
Thank you Layla for putting together The Chapel Market! It was a beautiful Fall day and the setting is truly spectacular. We made it a mother-daughter trip from North Louisiana and met up with my friend Leslie (Paper Daisy Designs) and her daughter. We had the most fantastic time shopping, eating and visiting with many of my our most favorite bloggers. I even won MMS Milk Paint prize! We are looking forward to next year. But, I think we better bring a bigger car!
Stephanie
Layla,
I have been wanting a basket full of cotton bolls like you have pictured for ages! Do you have a source I could contact to get some? I realize they might be common in your neck of the woods, but up here in the Pacific Northwest…that’s another story!
Cheers, Stephanie
Jessica Singletary
Stephanie,
I know that Shaunna at Perfectly Imperfect sales them! We are cotton farmers and I could send you some if you’d like!
Stephanie
Ohhh, Jessica I am very happy to discuss this with you! It would be wonderful to “know” where they came from. Perhaps Layla could help us get in touch with each other off-line?
Cindy Barganier
I love that the joy shines through the pictures.

Love all the pictures! How do you become a vendor? Or is it by invitation only? I hope to attend next year as either a vendor or customer!
Becky

Becky
Tamra
Oh my goodness, this looks like so much fun! I am gathering a LOT of inspiration from this event! 🙂
