It’s hard to believe it’s already been almost 4 years since I first blogged about Kelley’s Ojai cottage. At the time and her husband had just purchased the place, and they were just starting to fix it up. Here’s a look back at the “before” photo of the exterior…
…and here’s how it looks today. Front yard:

Isn’t it lovely?! 😀
Here are a couple more photos of the patio that were featured in Country Style magazine:
*sigh* 🙂 It’s just so dreamy!
The inside is equally as pretty. Remember it before? Here are a few photos in case you missed my first post:
Ready for the “after” photos? Prepare to gasp!
Kelley has a real gift for blending the past with the present when it comes to her decor, and I am SO inspired when I looked at these photos! I feel like I could just move right in to a house that’s decorated like that. I love interiors that feel cheery, and really tell a story about the people that live there! Kelley always does such wonderful job at pulling together places like that.
According to her blog (The Polished Pebble), they recently sold this house (with everything in it!) and are getting ready to start another house-related adventure soon. Can’t wait to see where the wind takes them next!
PS- Mom (and other green thumbed people!), I think you will love reading the garden design post she published about this cottage too! Click here: Ojai Country House Garden Design
I love Kelley’s cottage! But the thought of “selling everything with it” would scare me. Best wishes on their new adventure!
What a beautiful home!! What a gift to the new home owners! !
dreamy is right. what a beautiful home.
Beautiful house and so comfortable inside and it. Love it. Saw so many ideas.
I LOVE IT! So bright and cheerful, yet cozy at the same time. I kind of like the idea that they sold it with everything in it. I think it would be neat to buy a house that way.
The Polished Pebble is one of my favorite blogs, + she’s inspired me in many ways. Just now, when I see those gorgeous floral pillows, I find myself wanting to use some vintage dark blue floral bark cloth to make pillow shams for our bedroom! 🙂
When I read on her blog that she had sold it, I was speechless. I could not sell it after making it so perfect. But, I guess there is a season for everything. I hope she shares with us her next venture because you know it will be great!!
The change on the outside of the home is amazing!! How is it some people know EXACTLY what to do to a home/room/space? It looks like your style “countryfied” Layla. I love her sinks in the bathroom and the rustic framed foliage photos. Would she have the sources for these? I think I may need to start following her adventures.
Wow, wow, and wow! Love it:D
How beautiful! I love the bathroom and the kitchen.
This house is absolutely beautiful! Such a clean, fresh and bright space I would move in right away! Can’t wait to see her next decorating adventure!
Thanks for sharing!

I wish I had the ability to hold on loosely like Kelly obviously does since she sold her cute cottage with everything in it. I tend to get sentimentally attached to things. Loved her creative repurposings and lively color mixes.
Layla, you introduced me to The Polished Pebble 4 years ago and I’ve been following Kelly as she and her husband have transformed their home and property. Love her style. Love her photos. I’ve even made some of her recipes. I was shocked to hear they sold it all. I don’t know if I could leave behind all my “things”. I think that’s the 2nd time they have done that but then I think, how freeing to let go of it all and start fresh. Amazing!
Ojai is one of my most favorite places in the world. In fact I’m going there next weekend!! That house is a stunner!!
GASP I did! Then I got to pinning!!! 😉
So warm and inviting! x
I love this cottage. I live everything in it! Thanks for following up. So many great ideas to borrow!
WOW!!! what an amazing conversion!
Wow! No detail was forgotten! I love the white and blue striped wingback chairs. Any idea where they’re from?

Perfect! But almost too perfect!! They’ll sell that house quickly.
Wowzers! I love this gorgeous home transformation! First off, this home is so adorably quaint and cute. Everything about it feels so cozy and welcoming (as a cottage should feel!). I’m definitely inspired by the use of both old and new pieces. Great post! Thanks for sharing!
Layla!!!!! I wish you would have let me know you were going to write this! what a lovely surprise. I was having my morning coffee and checking out my favorite “winners” when all of the sudden lots of my old photos popped up. this was such a lovely post and I am so humbled that so many people loved this little house too. It was a project for sure but a learning project for us too.
We are moving on to new different things. Hopefully rewarding and fun and not nearly as much work ; o )))
Thank you Layla for all you bring to the world of blogging…you are truly special, one of a kind and clearly one of the most loved writers that have shared their love of cottage life for all of us to enjoy.
Sending lots of hugs to you….as wet kisses from my country dog Millie
cheers, Kelley
I meant to say “pinners” not winners….sorry
I guess pinners are winners ; o )
Could you please tell me what the dark countertop is in the kitchen? Thank you! Love everything about this house!
I wish you could come work your magic on my farm! I have a ranch house too that would LOVE a transformation like this!!
That is such an amazing transformation! I wish I had a snippet of their creative vision. Such a beautiful home.
