My Favorite Jewelry

Apr 28, 2014 By Layla

**This giveaway has ended. Thanks so much to everyone who entered!**

Y’all know about my friend Lucy’s jewelry, right?

Lucys Inspired Jewelry

For those that don’t, she makes her creations from architectural salvage and vintage jewelry and I am just crazy about the stuff!

Lucys Inspired Vintage to Vogue Jewelry

She sent me this necklace recently, and I literally gasped when I first saw it:

Lucy Lockets Necklace | The Lettered Cottage

Ya see that strand of cream & gold vintage leaves that make up the right side of the chain? My Grandma Evelyn had a necklace just like that, and man does it makes me smile every time I see it. 🙂

Here’s another one of my favorites:

Lucy Locket Necklace | The Lettered Cottage

My wedding anniversary is 6/25, so wearing that one makes me extra smiley, too. 🙂

***

Since Mother’s Day is right around the corner, Lucy and I thought it would be fun to host a Lucy Lockets giveaway here this week!

The person whose name is (randomly) selected can choose any one of Lucy’s pieces (up to $75). You can see all of her beautiful jewelry at Lucys Inspired, and if you’d like to enter for a chance to win one here, just leave a mom-related message in the comment section below this post. It could be a note about being a mom, or a special story about your mom or grandma- anything that you’d like to share to celebrate the upcoming holiday. 🙂

The giveaway will be open until Wednesday, April 30th at 9am (CST) and I’ll include the winner’s name at the end of this Friday’s post. Good luck and happy Monday!

PS- Instagrammers: Lucy’s Instagram feeds (LucysInspired and Lucys_Lockets) are two of my favorites to follow along with, too! 😉

This is my first Mother’s Day as a mom! My husband and I tried for years to get pregnant, and our little guy took us by surprise after many failed rounds of infertility treatment. I feel so blessed to be a mom, and I can’t wait to enjoy the day with my little guy and my grandmas! My thoughts are with those that are waiting to be moms in all shapes and forms. Mother’s Day can be so special and so sad all at the same time.

The jewelry is beautiful and unique. I love your blog and follow it faithfully. It’s so exciting to hear about your adoption plans and your new life in Christ. I’ve been thinking a lot about my mom lately. She is the one who told me about Jesus. That led to me becoming a Christian back in 1980. Thus, she was directly responsible for my birth and my new birth! We’ve always been close and stuck with each other through many trials and sorrows of life (as well as happy times). She was the mother God meant for me to have, and I’ll always be thankful for her. She’s my mother and my friend.

My mother lost her battle with cancer the day after her 40th birthday. I only had her for 20 years but the lessons, love, and joy she gave to me for that time have lasted a lifetime.

My husband and I are expecting a little girl this June so as we prepare for parenting we think a lot about our own moms. I feel so spoiled when I tell anyone about my wonderful mom, and that’s only increased since I get to brag about my wonderful mother-in-law now, too! So thankful for Moms and all they do. They are such a beautiful picture of true, selfless love! <3 Oh, and the jewelry is BEAUTIFUL!!

Thinking of my mom who now resides in an assisted living center/dementia unit, suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. Hope and pray that research finds an answer to this devastating illness.
This jewelry is unique and lovely- reminds me of the women in my family who always adorned themselves in beautiful pieces.

Thank you Layla and Lucy for hosting the Lucy’s Locket giveaway. They are some lovely unique pieces. Someone will be blessed to get to wear them. My mom is heaven now, but this is a note she wrote and left in my Bible. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! Enjoy….
    To My Daughter,
Ever since I was a little girl and felt at many times my mother would have been happier with a boy, I prayed God would give me a daughter of my own to Love as I would have liked to have been Loved.
Then God gave me you. I hope I have given that Love, so you will never doubt it. Even when I have been stern and overprotective, it was and will be because I Love you so very much and want only the best of everything in life for you. As you look to the Lord, who Loves you even more than I do, (and that is hard to realize) may He guide your every step and thought and His grace be sufficient for your every need.
    Love,
    Mother

The most precious things in my home are those that were passed down through the generations from mother to daughter. I will most definitely continue the tradition. I love this line of jewelry made from vintage jewelry and salvage and until I’m ready to pass a few things to my daughters, a piece of jewelry from this line with a special date on it would be a great gift and a reminder that our history is important and is to be valued.

My two daughters are the best Mom’s I know. They inspire me everyday with their patience, love and caring for their children. They spend quality time with them and are active in their activities at church, school and outside activities. If all mothers would model themselves after my daughters this world would be a much better place. Love those girls with all my heart.

I never dreamed of how much fun it would be to be a step-mom. My house is full of love and laughter and silliness (and occasionally stress and negative things), and I wouldn’t trade my life for anything. I know I’m not a “mom” in the strictest sense of the word, but I love my family just the same.

Mother’s day will take on new meaning this year, my mother passed away last September… I think there are so many wonderful motherly influences to celebrate though, I am so grateful for many nurturing and loving hearts that I am surrounded by! And, the necklace with the chandy-looking crystal reminds me of my parents and before that Grandma’s living room, LOVE it!

I never thought I would experience a true Mother’s day. I married at 32 years old (1994) to the most wonderful man. It seemed like we were destined to grow old together, just us TWO!!
To our surprise on November 18, 2002 on our wedding anniversary the “+” showed up on the “stick”. My husband was the one to clue me in on the fact that I was “late”.
So on July 10, 2003 at 1:23am we became the proud parents of a little girl named Reagan Morel Marcy. I was a month and a half shy of 41 years old.

God had the last laugh!! Thank God for His humor.

I am a mom of 3 littles and some of my most precious memories are those that happen at bedtime. Snuggling up next to my babies and saying prayers, telling stories and answering “life” questions too. My husband and I joke that it is “Deep Thoughts”, by ____________(insert child’s name here). Last week my nine-year-old commented at bedtime that I smelled like “a mom”. I asked if that was a good thing. She said “Yes, it is a good smell”. I guess having a “mom-smell” is a good ladies! Happy Mother’s Day to all! The jewelry is so pretty ~ your friend is very talented!
