And while we’re talking about creative Kathy/MK, have you seen the old house she fixed up? It’s a vacation rental on Tybee Island (in Georgia) and she named it Breeze Inn:

She fixed up another old house on the same island not long ago too. She named this one Ebb Tide:

I haven’t stayed at Ebb Tide yet, but man did we have a blast at Breeze Inn! Steevenson has been asking to go back to Tybee Island ever since our last trip there, so maybe we’ll give Ebb Tide a whirl next time.

    Oh how fun! I would love to visit there someday! I’ve actually never made my way to the east coast or the Midwest for that matter. Sad I know. Our favorite little beach town is pacific city, Oregon! It’s a quaint west coast town full of all the summer fixins’ like shaved ice, soft sand you can sit in forever and read while your kiddos make sandcastles……good seafood and fun shops that you walk to (no driving necesssary!) Tillamook ice cream, the best sunsets EVER!! Salt water taffy, amazing kayaking and stand up paddle boarding…It’s a place you come with friends and family and make lifetime memories!

    Love your blog Layla. We had a great little weekend getaway to Tybee. Saw “Beach Blanket Bingo” at the Tybee Post Theatre near the lighthouse. Rode bikes all over the island. Please put me down for the drawing!

    I’m going to admit, I have never read her books. I’m always set on just three authors, but I have been thinking that I need to expand my list of authors. She might be the next. My favorite beach is a hard one. I live near the beach in Southern California, so I feel really blessed. But, The beaches of Hawaii just tug at my heart strings all the time.

    I have never read any of Mary Kay Andrews’ books, but I am always looking for a new author. One of my favorite authors is from my old home town, Lisa Wingate, and I am sure that many of your blog followers would love her work. Her first book, Tending Roses, has just been re- released, after her most recent novel, Before We Were Yours, sold over a million copies.
    If MKA books are as good as the houses she decorates are beautiful, I know I would love her work! We have never really done a beach vacation rental, but this May, we did go to Santa Fe, NM, with our family, and stayed at my SIL’s vacation rental. It was wonderful, especially the cooler weather ! ( We are from Texas and it is way too hot right now!) It was the first vacation we had had in many years, and it was nice to get to stay in one place and really explore the area, unlike moving from place to place, as we have done on several road trips we took. I hope we can do a beach vacation rental one day. It seems to be a popular vacation for our friends, especially when their children are grown up and they go with all their children’s families.

    Our fav beach getaway is Rosemary Beach on 30A just east of Seaside approx 8 minutes away. When my husband & I go alone we love to rent a townhome called The Grand Petite situated above the restaurants & boutiques on Main Street very near the West Green. We rent from http://www.InvitedHome.com. But we’ve also seen it listed on VRBO & HOME AWAY.

    We’ve been experiencing the beach since 1997 when we came to Orange Beach and we slowly made our way east to Seagrove Beach Florida and Seacrest Beach Florida. Rosemary Beach is just the right size for our taste. So many beautiful homes & cottages to rent. Our family of 14 usually rent a large home close to the beach.

    Just got back from Portofino resort in Gulf Breeze. I read Savannah Blues and immediately started Little Bitty lies. I can’t get enough of her books! Just love them. I always recommend what I read to my daughter in laws and girl friends. Mary Kay is the best in not wanting to put her books down and not wanting them to end! Would love her new book

    I have not read any of MKA’s books yet, but this looks like a good summer read. I would love to win and then take it with me on a beach vacation, but alas, we have another mountain vacation planned. I am craving the beach but with family in the mountains of Tennessee, we just love going there!

    Need a good summer read for my upcoming ‘momcation’ at our family cabin, will need to read in 5 minute increments of course 😉 Great vacation spot, Tofino on Vancouver island in Canada! West coast is a dream I highly recommend it, but I’m biased 🙂

    Sunset Beach in Cape May, NJ is my favorite beach! It’s quiet, it has great viewing for some spectacular sunsets and there is a ceremony every evening to honor a veteran. A local man talks about the vet they’re honoring, lowers the flag and the crowd sings God Bless America. It was so touching and a wonderful way to end the day!

    We have spent most of our island time on Hilton Head. We did visit Tybee when our son was in a golf tournament on Wilmington Island. It seems like it would be so hard to choose a cottage to rent, but oh how much fun it would be. I have two of Mary Kay’s books on my Kindle and can’t wait to start them. Would love to have the “old fashioned” book in my hands to read.

    I don’t have a favorite getaway…yet! But there is a fun tea house here in Oregon called the Painted Lady. I most recently had the princess tea there with my cousin and her daughter. (thepaintedladybbtearoom.com)
