Hi. We’re Kevin and Layla- but this week, you can call us Dusty and Sandy.
We rented a big, powerful toy to sand back our hardwood floor with, and so far, Operation: Shop-vac has been the best part. Here’s a little video footage of our first, dusty day…
(Click here to view the video on YouTube)
Next up, the edge sander…
…and some kind of spa treatment for two.
To be continued…

I love everything that Dusty and Sandy do.
I can’t wait to see your very own “presto-chango”.
Dusty and Sandy you two are so cute!!!

Kev
What an adventure! Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
You are so funny! We are doing the same thing to our stairs. So much dust!!! ugh.
Did you say you were leaving it natural and just sealing it?
Or will you stain it again?
Just curious.
xoxo
We are going to leave it natural and just seal it. Hoping it turns out good!

You got me on the first sentence…..my mother had a friend who named her three children Rusty, Dusty and Sandy. You two are just to cute!
The dynamic duo do it again!! Great job.
PS Your home is incredibly beautiful:)
You two make the very best team! I am trying to get my husband to have the same passion for helping his wife with home projects as yours. I keep showing him your posts with your husband hard at work to inspire him…ha ha!
Your walls look just like mine! My house is about 80 years old and we loved the old wood so just painted it. We too are going to refinish our hardwood floor soon. So thanks for any tips!
This is so exciting! I know this is hard work, so you will definitely want that spa treatment!

Wow, that is so cool! Re-staining our 100 year old floors is on our to-do list…you make me feel like it’s possible! Thanks for the boost. = )
It is possible, just dusty! Ha ha

You two are too adorable for words!
How long have you been blogging – and you still come up with the cutest, darndest things to say! Can’t wait to see the final product…..
How much do floor sander rentals cost? I have hard wood floors throughout my entire home that we did entirely by hand sander. It’s about time to do them again & dread the thought of it taking so long…again.
Thanks in advance for the info. 🙂
So very inspiring! I am so excited to see the next post! It’s such a drastic difference already to take that old stain off. Giddy for you!
Dusty and Sandy: Y’all are just too cute…even with the dust 😀
You two are such a great team! Can’t wait to see the finished product.
LOVE the little smiley faces!!
P.S. I think you should start designing blogs …. you are SO creative!
How exciting! This is our very next project on our old house! I’m so looking forward to seeing those floors shine! Our floors are so old that I honestly don’t know what to expect once I get the grime off of them.
I was nervous to see what ours looked like too. Such a relief when I saw the wood was in pretty good condition.
Kev

Can’t wait to see it done! I keep telling my computer geek husband that “Kevin did it and he didn’t know how before he started”! I showed him your nail gun video, he might try it now. Thanks!

I’ve always wanted to do this to our an old house we use to live in but never got around to it. I look forward to seeing how it turns out. And I can’t wait to see the final office. Good luck.
Your little doctored-up smileys at the end always give me a giggle. Can’t wait to see the floor.
I can’t wait to see the finished floor!
