Happy Monday, y’all!
I’m joining some friends for a fun blog hop today and I’m so excited to see what the other gals are blogging about today! We all had fun thinking of simple ways to dress up a store-bought food item so that it would look beautiful and homemade.
If you’re coming over from Kelley Nan’s blog– welcome! I put a little twist on store-bought cranberry sauce. It’s something my mom did when I was younger, and I hope you’ll get a kick out of it, too!
All you do is start with a couple of cans of whole berry cranberry sauce. I got mine from Publix.
It will come out of the can congealed, so dump it in a bowl and break it up a bit with a fork…
Last but not least, halve a few oranges (depending on the number of guests you’ll be serving) and use a paring knife and spoon to carve them out to create little bowls.
My mom usually made juice with the oranges themselves so they didn’t go to waste, and there really isn’t anything like fresh squeezed so I highly recommend it! 🙂
Top with mint leaves for an extra little flourish of color and voilà!
We’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving with Kevin’s side of the family this year, but Steevenson turns six on the 23rd, so we’ll definitely be breaking bread (and maybe berries- ha!) to celebrate his life first! 😀
Do you have a store-bought item you like to dress up? Please tell us all about it in the comment section if you do!

oh ..i just love this idea and spin on cranberry sauce. may have to try this on thursday. happy birthday to your little guy.
You can also make it really “like homemade” by chopping the oranges and some pecans and stirring them into the cranberry sauce. It’s really yummy!
Neat idea!
How about putting some of the orange in with the cranberries? They go excellent together.
Layla, my sister loves that canned cranberry sauce so we always have it for Thanksgiving but it’s always all ugly looking on the table. LOVE your simple solution so much and will definitely be trying it! So glad to have you join along today and happy Thanksgiving to you and your sweet family!
Ohhhh, I am definitely doing this! So fresh, so cute, so easy!! Love you and all you do!!! Happy Thanksgiving, xoxo
LOVE the post and the ideas! I will use them all, if not for Thanksgiving then for another event. Whenver someones asks if I made “it” (whatever the food in question may be), I simply reply: “I made it happen!” 🙂
I NEED more of these kinds of posts. Please! I love it. Thank you!
