So, remember a couple weeks ago when I mentioned that I wanted to re-paint the secretary that I pulled into the kitchen? Well, my mint green milk paint is on its way here (woo hoo- thanks again for creating “Layla’s Mint”, Marian!) and I’m looking forward to knocking that project out real soon!
I also mentioned that I wanted to find something to hang on the wall above the secretary in that post, but after some daydreaming, I decided that I’d rather have fun creating something with my friend, Rachel, instead…and here’s what we came up with! 😀
The frame was marked 40% off at Hobby Lobby, and Rachel hand-lettered the quote in Adobe Illustrator. The photo is of the barn that sits at the front of our neighborhood, and I just love the way it all came together!
I look at that barn every time I come home, and I’ve always wanted to frame a picture of it, so I’m excited to finally have it captured for keeps in our kitchen! 😀
I look forward to sharing a step-by-step post about my minty “new” secretary with you as soon as I’m finished painting it. I am such a big fan of Marian‘s paint and wax, and the color she created for me looks good enough to eat, doesn’t it?
Mmmmm! 😀
I have a huge thing for old barns and that barn is gorgeous! The print turned out beautifully.
She seriously hand-lettered that? Way too wonderful.
The blue and the mint will look amazing together. One of my fave color combos.
Thank you, Laura! And, yep, she hand-lettered the quote on a Wacom pad and put it on top of the photo in Adobe Illustrator. 🙂 She’s such a talented gal!
I love the print you two created. I’m going to have to see if I can find some where I can put one in my home. Layla’s mint is a perfect mint color too. That’s so great that Marian created it just like you wanted. I’m sure if will be beautiful on the secretary. I can’t wait to see it. I’d love to know the color of blue on that piece in the blog. I think it would be great in my coastal bathroom. Love your posts and all your inspiration!
What a beautiful print and it goes perfectly above your secretary!
Beautiful! Love it on top of the secretary.
Oh, I love it! I enjoy all the photos you take around your home, grassy hills, bright blue skies and puffy white clouds. 🙂 It looks just right above the secretary. I can’t wait to see the new mint color.
That art suites you to a tee, Layla. Can’t wait to see the furniture painted – I love the milk paint trend right now and I adore that mint color! 🙂
Hello Layla,
I love your farmhouse picture. Can you share how you/Rachel applied the lettering to the photo? Many thanks.
Stacey
Perfect! Always look forward to your posts and this one just made my day!
Divine Ms. L………
You totally read my mind………I was just thrilled when you said you would do a step-by-step of your process. I am dying to use some of MMS’s paint. I love all the colors……..esp “tricycle”. I have the perfect old cabinet to paint. I also have an old typewriter table I use for displaying some jewelry. I even bought the “Hemp Oil”……..but that’s as far as I went.
CHICKEN…….that’s me.
I want Mikey…….er……….Layla to do it first. You go girl. You show us your technique.
BTW, I had no idea you had an ETSY shop!!!!!!! How very cool. I will sit, like a little begging puppy, and watch what gets listed. LOL.
I LUVVVVVVVV the new artwork. Precious. A “Crow” needs one of these!!!!! (Too)
Oh my, it is beautiful. I so wish I had the talent and understanding how to use software like that. You should be proud of that. I know I would smile everytime I looked at it. 🙂
That is beautiful Layla. I just wanted to let you know that after Marian posted the colour she created for your desk, I mixed up some of my own. It is very pretty! Can’t wait to see your desk after you paint it.
Hi Layla, your art is so pretty! I can’t help but notice it’s the same font as the letterhead on your blog. Even if I had Adobe Illustrator, I wouldn’t be able to duplicate the lovely lettering. Such a gift!!
I love old barns…there are a lot of them near my hometown. I also love the quote that you guys chose.:) Overall, the art is gorgeous!
I love that print! Wish I had one for my home!
I just bought Milk Paint for the first time. I mixed 2 colors to create a custom color and it worked like a charm! I love everything about Miss Mustard Seed’s blog and yours, too! I can’t wait to try “your” mint paint. 🙂
Beautiful paint color – looks just like melted mint ice cream! The print is perfect and looks so cute with the hat nearby. It really is all in the details…and you do them SO well : )
Stellar.
Gives me ides for some of my photography!!
I love the print in todays email, but I could not find your etsy shop to order one. I would really love to get one, it is so beautiful. You are such an inspiration and have so much talent, thank you!
This wall art is beautiful! I’m going to have to share this with my granny…I know she’ll love it! And that cabinet is gorgeous! I’m loving the color!!!
Layla,
I love the new print above your “old” secretary. I can’t wait to see how your “new” secretary looks! I love green. I think it looks fresh and clean.
Layla, I love everything you guys do! I really want that print it is perfect! Where can I order one? I looked on your Etsy shop but couldn’t see it. Great job can’t wait to see you kitchen all finished.
I love the color, that will be so perfect in your kitchen! 🙂 Also, I wondered if you sell this print and if your friend Rachel would be open to doing this on a picture for me? Its just perfect. If you don’t sell the print do you know where I could find a similar picture with an old barn? I love the sky and the green grass! Let me know. Its just beautiful! If Rachel is open to it I would love to get in contact with her. She does great work! Thanks for another wonderful post!
