Remember the secretary I painted and planned to use in the sunroom? Well, it’s in the kitchen now. 🙂
I never really did end up using it as a full-time computer desk, so I thought I’d try it over here for a while.
I can still pull a small stool up to it when I want to write out a thank you or hello card/need to address an envelope/write a check, etc., but it can also house some kitchen stuff, too.
There’s more than enough room to walk around it (I should’ve taken a photo of it from the side- oops!), and I think I might hang a piece of art or photography above it sometime, too.
The only thing left to do is re-paint it. Yep- I’ve been wanting to change it to a mint-y green for a while now, and my friend Marian is creating a custom shade of milk paint to coordinate with our (Heather Gray) island as I type. I’m also hoping she has time to help me add some of her beautiful hand-painted details on the sides of it when she comes to town this Fall.
Oh yeah! Have you heard? The guys that own the chapel are hosting The Chapel Market this year and Miss Mustard Seed will have a booth again this year!
This one’s going to be on Saturday, October 25th, and I’ll publish another post with more details about it soon. Hope to see you there! 🙂

Good morning Layla. It is a muggy day here in AZ., so I am looking at your past posts. I am in love with your home…and your last home too. What is that gorgeous blue color you painted the island in your kitchen? Many thanks…
Leigh Ann
Can I ask you what kind of stand you have the hat sitting on and where you got it from? In our living room I have my husbands grandfathers hat and my dad’s hat who have both passed away. Currently I have a candle holder under them to keep them propped up a little but…..what you’re using looks cuter!

Just read over my comment. Hat not had! Both not bothe. Ha ha. Can you tell I was multitasking?

Love everything about work and such an inspiration. What color are your walls and also the color of your island? I’m building my first house, and my kitchen is such a copy cat of yours!
Layla
Thank you, Heather! Here’s a link to my paint color post: https://theletteredcottage.net/how-to-lighten-or-darken-paint/
Happy decorating! 😀

Where did you get the magazine rack you have on the side of the secretary.
