Happy Friday, friends!
I’m sporting one of the pieces in my Cloth + Cabin collection in the photo below, but I also wanted to share some front porch inspiration now that the weather is making it so dang fun to be outside here in Alabama!
We recently had our house painted, and I was never inspired by the previous colors, so I haven’t ever felt compelled to decorate our porch. For five and a half years it pretty much just looked like this:
Well,Ā now it’s finally painted (yahoo!) and it’s just itchin’ for some places to sit…
…and for someone to hose off all that pollen that’s covering everything!
First up, I’m on the hunt for a porch swing. That’s what Kevin’s craving the most and I do think that’s a great place to start. Here are (affiliate) links to some of the ones that caught my eye while searching online:
Which style is your favorite? š
Happy weekend!

PS- Here’s a link to a porch swing rope kit which is pretty neat too!

I like the woven style swing. I know, after having a wooden swing, it would be more comfortable to sit in. Wooden swings always have the back slats that are “in the wrong place” and hurt my back.

I bought two solid “wicker-style” swings for my pergolas 19 years ago and they held up beautifully, even in the weather…and they are SO much more comfortable than wood swings! HOWEVER, skip the cushions…if they get wet, forget about it. And the squirrels raided mine for nesting materials so they didn’t last long! Maybe add some pretty outdoor pillows! The blue one would be beautiful on your porch!! I also bought one of those inexpensive “plastic” type outdoor rugs from Lowes last year and it held up nicely on my deck…that would be pretty under the swing.

Normally I would say the blueswing but that first deeper hued swing has my attention. It would bring in that color of your lights and give that modern farmhouse feel. Once you add in a colorful rug and plants, it will all pull together.
Kathleen
Blue woven looks cozy!
Sharon
Get a swing thatās big enough to lie down and nap on! š
Terri
The one with the criss-cross back… I am a sucker for a swing that screams farmhouse …. cottage…. lolol… House is gorgeous and oh my goodness that porch !!!!!
Stacy
Wicker! If you go with a wooden swing you might have the edge where your legs hang over rounded so it is more comfortable.
Judy Ridings
I have had two porch swings a wood one and a poly resin wicker one. The wicker is way more comfortable than the wood one was. And the black wicker has never faded.

Remember that pollen you talked about?? Think about it all stuck in the wicker type swing. It will be difficult to get it out of the woven wicker and the scrubbing will make the wicker weak. I live in Birmingham Alabama and have a front porch with a swing and am currently in a battle with pollen and other spring things that fall from the sky and cover the porch. In the damp fall i do battle with mildew. Just something to think about.

Your porch looks lovely! First choice would be the white washed diamond back swing. Second choice, the cream/white wicker swing. Have fun choosing!

Low Country Porch Swing from Wayfair. It’s a nice combo of wicker and wood.

Have you seen the “swing bed”? Here’s a link to a sweet couple in MS who make the most gorgeous ones!!! http://www.hammmadefurniture.com/2016/04/18/swing-beds/#!/Swing-Beds/c/19332697/offset=0&sort=normal
These are my dream sitting & swinging place!!!

I like the blue wicker.

Check out the porch swings from The Porch Company. https://porchco.com/
They can turn into beds.

I like the sturdy, traditional look of the wooden swings. The woven ones are beautiful and functional for the southern belle, but I don’t see them holding up to an active young boy who will imagine the swing as his airplane, truck, or spaceship. I have many memories of the wooden porch swing at my grandma’s house and how we grandchildren built whole worlds of imagination around that swing.

Layla, have you considered the one from Erin & Ben Napier from their Laurel Mercantile shop. It’s made by them in Laurel, Mississippi! It’s gorgeous! It’s called the Holloway Porch Swing. Have a great day!

Iām with Kevin: thereās nothing I love more than a porch swing! I love the wicker style swings…not only would they be comfy, theyād look great with the style of your house. Get swinging, mama!
Stacey
I love the second and last swing in the photos you shared āļø

I say to go for the swing that will hold all three of you for years to come! I have a 6 foot Louisiana Cypress wood swing and it is just great to pile 3-4 people on it and snuggle in together. Cushion optional.

Wow, seeing the black on on the right side, second one down, brought me right back to my childhood. My parents had one just like that on their old white farmhouse porch. I sat in that and read the entire Babysitter’s Club series. Thanks for bringing back good memories.

Layla, the light blue wicker by Coco Cover says Layla to me…. but for MY cottage … I love the Wandy Rustic Wooden Porch Swing from WayFair! It’s perfect for my wooded “snow white” home. Have fun!
Laura
Where did you get that awesome beverage dispenser?
Layla
At an estate sale! š

Love the white you chose to paint your house! What is the name of the paint color you chose? Thank you!
Layla
Simply White – thank you!

My next porch purchase is going to be a bed swing! I currently have one in the window of my shop in Dothan- it is so pretty. It is made by Atlanta Bedswings. Check out their website and make a trip to Dothan if you want to see it up close!

Love the light blue Coco Cove. Will it withstand the energies of one precious little Sweet Pea is the question. Because Iām betting it will be his favorite place to run, hop, and swing. Remembering from my own childhood. š I love the color and the style, but the wood ones are cute, too.

Beautiful!!!
