I finished up the my part of the traveling art project this weekend, so I’m sending it on to the next blogger that’s participating. If you’re a DIY blog reader- you’ll probably recognize her name:
And speaking of the Petersiks…
Have you seen the book they released last Fall? Like their blog, it’s called Young House Love, and they were kind enough to feature one of our tile projects from our last house in it:
That was the first time Kevin and I had ever tiled, and we were just kind of winging it at the time, but it turned out to be one of the least messy/stressful DIY projects we ever did there…
Other ones, notsomuch…
Ha!
Anywho- we wanted to send out a huge thanks to John and Sherry, and to congratulate them on the completion/success of their book. Word on the e-street is that it hit the New York Times best seller list within two weeks of its release! How cool is that?!
The book in chock full of 243 (awesome) ways to paint, craft, update and show your house some love, and here’s a really fun, short video they put together about it:
So thanks again to John and Sherry- and Sherry: the traveling art project is headed your way and I can’t wait to see what you add to it!
PS- We’ve seen copies of John and Sherry’s book in every bookstore in town, but you can also click here for more info about where their book is available:Â Young House Love: 243 ways to Paint, Craft, Update, and Show your House Some Love

This book (and their blog!) has been such good inspiration for me and my husband to transform our little 1920s house. It’s a slow process with two toddler boys running around, for sure, but the guidance provided, and knowing others like you guys are DIY-ing successfully helps!
Layla
That’s awesome, Abbey! 😀 I’m still not sure we’ve nailed “successfully”, but John and Sherry have got it down pat! 😀
Tania

Now when is yours coming out?? 😉
Sherry @ Young House Love
Aw thanks so much Layla! You’re so sweet. We’re so happy to get to feature your gorgeous tiling project – we still gaze at it and drool. And I can’t wait to get my mitts on the art project you’re sending my way! Hope I don’t choke and ruin it all…

The bathroom redo featured in the book is wonderful! I LOVE the cottage style you put on everything. Who could NOT love beadboard? Also, when I first looked at the book I thought it was you and Kev! Do you do all the woodworking yourself? (ie. the cabinets on each side of the sink).

Will we have the opportunity to see the finished art project. I would love to see the final outcome and a breakdown of who contributed what. I can remember taking part in progressive writing like this.
Katy @ Lolly Linens
Hi Layla – I ordered their book!
Love you guys!

Like others, I LOVED your bathroom tiling project in the book. I look at your “afters” and I love them. I look at your befores, and I wish I had the vision. I’m not intimidated by tools or projects, but I just walk around my house and stare. I know great things are possible, and I get some ideas from blogs and books, but I just wish I had the vision. Any ideas?

I have been a fan of John & Sherry’s blog for a long time and
when I found out that they were getting their book published I was so happy for them! I loved their old house and I love the remodel of their new house’s kitchen! It is a very cool space and
house, too!
I have read their book front to back and enjoyed your part in all of it!
