Hey there!
Remember our neighbors with the cool kitchen we featured in our e-zine?

They’re replacing their front door this week. Their current front door is brown…

…but they’re gonna go with a little more color on the new door. (Which, by the way, is actually an old door, and it. Is. Gorgeous!) Keeping that in mind, (and this is just for fun, because they’ve actually already decided which color they’re going to use) which direction would you go? A shade of green…(not necessarily the one in the photo below)

…or some kind of blue…(not necessarily this exact one)

…or a dark red? (again, not necessarily this one)

I’ll be sure to post pics of their new door once they’ve got it painted and in place!
Happy Weekend!

Wanna see more of our neighbor’s kitchen? Check out our Summer Fun e-zine!

The first photo of the kitchen is simply stunning – it is season and family friendly – can’t wait to see what they do with the front door. Love your blog, btw! xoxo michele
I would do Apple green. Definitely 😉
Although that dark red looks lovely.
I’m excited to see what they went with. I’m trying to decide what color to repaint my exterior doors and just did a post asking for suggestions. I’d love if you and your readers would head on over and give me your vote!!!! http://rindymae.blogspot.com/2011/06/help.html I picked up some swatches this week and I’m leaning toward two, so I’d love to hear what color gets the most suggestions.
I say blue– element of surprise is a beautiful thing. 🙂
Layla, can you share the paint colors they used in their kitchen redo? I’ve scoured the ezine and posts but haven’t seen them… did I miss them? Thanks!
Hey Heidi!
They’re not sure what the cabinet color is, but the door color is called California Poppy. Not sure who it’s made by though…sorry! 🙂
Thanks, Layla! Awesome color combo so I was curious. 🙂
Honestly Layla I don’t think I would go with a color at all. I would go with an old/new rich stained wood door with heavy wrought iron handles and hinges. Would love to see that presto chango:)
Lots of traditional English doors are blue because it is supposed to keep the bad spirits out ;P
I’d go with a shade of blue.
A pretty kelly green or bright royal blue would be very inviting and fun! I can’t wait to see what they do! I love the kitchen!
I vote the blue color! Tricky decision!! 🙂
Crystal
I love the blue next to the brick! Stunning! Makes me want a blue front door…Mine is beige and I hate it!
Hey guys! Love this kitchen. Great colors 🙂 My hubs and I keep up with your great ideas and projects…
if you ever get an extra minute, pop in a see our DIY reclaimed barn wood headboard- our latest creation.
have a great weekend
I am partial to blue, but the red gives a little hint to what’s inside with all the red in the kitchen! Beautiful home 🙂
That’s a great house, can’t wait to see the cool new door!
I got the red door LOL and I love it! If I were them I would paint it red!
Have a nice weekend!
I like the blue color especially since it has a touch of green!
Blue…Blue…BLUE!!
welllll…considering that I must be crazy OCDish and like “my insides to go with my outsides” I would vote for a bright red…but then again, how about a nice cheerful, but warm buttery yellow?
Interesting that this kitchen is popping up here today, I am in the middle of changing my khaki and white kitchen back to having red accents – just changed it to bright green accents a couple of weeks ago and am NOT lovin’ it.

Thank you so much for re-posting the picture of this kitchen. I have been going thru so many blogs to find it.We just bought a repo house and its in desire need of work so Im using this kitchen as a reference for redoing my kitchen. I love all the clean lines of the white and stainless, especially since my kitchen is really small it has a whopping 6 cupboards and 6 drawers. So Im hopping this will make the illusion its a little bigger without taking down walls. Thats for a much later time.
Thanks Again
Dawn
p.s. I love your blog
Im in the process of making the sunburst mirror 🙂
I’d love it in the same shade of red as that of the kitchen door! Something bold that makes a statement versus the traditional look of a Tudor home.
My vote is for a shade of blue. The green seems to blend in too much with their landscape, but their house is so stinkin’ cute it probably will look great no matter the color they choose.
I’d go with the blue, but actually would suggest a deep purple. Don’t know where it’s coming from but I’ve been choosing shades of purple this year–our front door, our guest rooms, new upholstery for a love seat…
Well I would probably be more dramatic. I LOVE this house! I would consider painting the brick a taupe or light gray with a white trim and I would consider a super bright red glossy door or a black door.
If I could not bring myself to pain the exterior this way, I would go with the blue door! 🙂
What a beautiful kitchen, I love the pops of red! I think any of these color choices would look great, but I love the blue! Can’t wait to see the result!

i would go with a white or cream color like on the house….can’t wait to see what they chose!
Red, red, red!
Hi Layla, Love, love, love this kitchen! I have a question about the paneling that they used. We’re remodeling our 1915 Sears kit house and in the kitchen we want to put up wainscoting paneling. Do you know the source of the paneling that was used in this kitchen? I can’t get enough of your blog. BTW, I’m partial to the red door. That’s the color I’m trying to convince my husband into letting me paint our front door. 🙂
I would pick a teal blue. The green is too common and the red does not stand out against the brick. Besides, I love blue.
The blue is classy and fresh, all at the same time.
I love a red door!
However, I did just see a brick house with the brightest, cheeriest yellow door! If I find the picture, I’ll zip it to you.

My first choice would be a deep, almost black, aubergine purple. Can’t wait to see what they actually picked.
i vote for blue or green. you lose the red in the brick a little…
I’m normally not a blue person, but I love the blue door!!!
I like the green door you pictured. But I can’t seem to commit to a color for my own front door… So what do I know?
I just discovered your blog through pinterest, it’s lovely!
I’d go for a blue door – I’m partial to blue 🙂
Have a great day!
I love what they’ve done with that house!! That is the exact style of home we have…but it’s a one story built in 1976! I would love to one day paint all the trim work in our home….but my husband says no:( So i’ve made it work the best I can! Thanks for all of your inspiration!!!!
Love this kitchen! The pops of colors are great! I’m a fan of the blue front door. Thanks for sharing this!
I am sure whatever they do will be amazing…….I LOVE their kitchen!! If I had to choose, I would probably go with the Blue…it seemed to compliment the house well! Can’t wait to see what they choose!!
I’m leaning toward the blue but that’s such a pretty house it probably wouldn’t matter. I have to paint our front door this summer and I’m thinking maybe blue. Haven’t ever had a blue door so this might just be the time.
Oh, I love that kitchen & the dark red on the door is my favorite. Can’t wait to see what they go with.
I think that I would go with green! Always love reading your posts!!
I love anything blue. For our new brick house we picked a dark blue called Noble Gray (ICI 1485). It turned out better than what I expected. I was a bit nervous, thinking it would be too dark, but it looks great. Can’t wait to see what your neighbors picked out.
If they have to go dark, I like the teal blue-green. How about yellow?
It has got to be BLUE 🙂
Love it! The red door is the cherry on top. Well done,. Hugs
My vote is blue–it’s unexpected for this style/color house. Great kitchen, too!
I’m thinking black would look great on that door and really stand out. Some nice new brushed nickle hardware to go with it.
BLUE! Love it!
I’d go with a blue. A nice rich, middle of the sky blue. Equally wonderful would be some nice stained wood.
I think a shade of blue would really compliment the house. Perhaps a shade or two lighter than the one you proposed.
RED! Awesome kitchen too!
Ree needs your help, hop on over to Pioneer Womans blog! You guys could rock that room!
LOVE the blue! swoon.
