“I was born to be wild, but only until around 9pm.”

I picked that quote because, clearly, I was too tired to be blogging the other night.
WE HAVE A FRONT LOADER, Y’ALL.
DUH!!! 😀
What I meant to say in yesterday’s post is that I would buy a WHITE dryer and TOP LOADING washer next time. (Ours are black front loaders underneath that curtain in the photo above.) But obviously I shouldn’t blog past 9pm- ha!
Anywhoobs…have you seen this? So sweet!
Happy Thursday, friends!
Layla
Thank you for sharing! Wow. THAT is what life is about!
Hi Layla… I’m interested to know why you’ve decided that you want to buy white TOP loaders next time. (Because lately I’ve been thinking the same thing.) Thanks!
That quote should be my motto.
Do they even make top loading dryers?! Talk to as many as you can about top vs. front washers. I went top loading washer, and regret it.
Oops. Clearly I shouldn’t blog before 9 AM either- LOL! 😀 Thanks for catching that. I edited my wording. Again! 😀
I have a white top loading washer and front loading white dryer. I LOVE the idea of both being front loaders because then I can do a countertop across the entire thing, but I hear bad things about front loading washers. Fisher & Paykel makes top loading DRYERS and I am going to check those out for next time.
And, I feel ya’ on the past 9 pm thing. I turn into a pumpkin at 9 pm : )

Speed Queen Top Loaders!!!!
Never buy any other brand!
After going through 3 front loaders in 5 years (yes, you read that correctly) we learned our lesson. After a LOT of research, we discovered that the water saving requirements that front loaders provided were offset with severe reliability issues.
Living in CA, I understand, first hand, the need to conserve water but I also could not accept the increase in appliance costs and poor reliability (landfills are filling up with big appliances nation wide) so American made Speed Queen got my vote (and money) and I have been THRILLED ever since.
Top loaders are work horses and are easy to repair, if and when they need repairing. Win-Win!
Plus, they come in white! YAY!
Have a great day everyone.
funny you mentioned that brand…we have had our Frigidaire FL repaired three times…and the repairman told me to “just buy speed queen and be done for 20 years” next time.
It is a nice message to convey to think of seniors. I, being a senior, would love that.
We all need to have more kindness and understanding of others in today’s world, I agree!
You probably already know this, but make sure you can comfortably reach all the way to the bottom of the top loader. Some of them are very deep.
There was a front loading washer in our house when we bought it. It had a moldy smell that gave our clothes a moldy smell. We couldn’t get rid of the smell, so got rid of the washer. We bought a top loader and LOVE it.
I’ve gone back to a top loader washing machine and love love love it. No more smell. No more residue. I like the idea of front loaders but I discovered I didn’t like the reality!
I had a front loader. It didn’t last very long. After that, I bought a top loader without the agitator in the center. The clothes didn’t get very clean and they always came out in a tangled up mess. So, a year ago, I replaced that one with a top loader that has a center agitator and I love it. The clothes always come out clean and never tangled up. Just my experience, someone else may have had better luck!
I have an HE top loader and I hate it . I had a front loader and was not a fan of the number of times the repairman had to visit my home. I concur Ann I often run my clothes through two cycles before they are clean Also the towels are shredding because of the friction caused by lack of water YUK give me back my old Maytag that lasted and lasted I wish I had invested in a new motor for it . Have had more headaches with the new washers than I ever had with the old
I have a front loader that I love. You have to leave the door open between cycles so that the water can evaporate. That way you don’t get a moldy smell. I’ve had mine almost 9 years with no issues. It is a kenmore. It gets my clothes cleaner than any other washer I have ever used.
Yep. This. And if you only do laundry once a week (like me), you really only need to leave it open overnight. (Well. That’s up here in SD where it’s very dry. Might be longer down south. Or need a quick wipe with a rag.) I’ve also heard they changed the gasket design on newer versions so it’s not as much of a water/sock catcher.
Here’s another thing: kids can do the laundry with front loaders. My kids have been doing our laundry since they were 2 and 5. To start, they just helped load/transfer between/reload/push the start buttons. Now? They can do the entire thing (7 and 10). No way will a little be able to help you with anything but sorting and folding with top loaders.
We bought our front loading washer and drier 8 years ago and have never had an issue with either. Purchased them on a screaming Black Friday deal from Sears.
I bought an old school top loafer with an agitator when we bought our house seven years ago and never regretted it. Like the PP, I like the idea of front loaders, but mostly I need my washer to be reliable and low maintenance.
