“Nobody has ever measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold.”
-Zelda Fitzgerald
It’s been a while since I shared a “Meet:” post, and I’ve been watching “Z: The Beginning of Everything” lately, so I thought I’d start putting one together about F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. He grew up in Minnesota- like me! 😀 She grew up right here in Montgomery, Alabama, and the F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald museum (which the couple called home in 1931 and 1932) is only 20 minutes from our house.
I reached out to the folk who run the museum to see if I might be allowed to meet with them for an interview and to snap some photographs the place so that I can share a detailed post. (There’s actually a two-bedroom apartment you can rent through AirBnB on the second floor that I’d love to photograph and learn more about too!)
I’ll keep you posted! And in the meantime, if you’re not watching “Z: The Beginning of Everything”– I highly recommend it! I’m watching it on Amazon Prime and I’ve enjoyed the peek into Z and Scott’s life, as well as seeing historic shots of “Montgomery” (it’s actually Savannah, I think). The sets and wardrobes are spectacular!
Have you seen the “Z” series?

It *is* Savannah- my husband is in the show. 🙂 I read the book back when they were filming (it was a while ago! 2 years almost!) and I couldn’t put it down. There was another house for sale recently that was the spot where he and Zelda would attend balls…now of course I can’t find it through Google. I also loved seeing his boarding house near the cemetery in New Orleans. Thanks for the heads up that the show is out now!!

Hold up, friend! You can’t tell us your husband is in the show and then not tell us all the details!!! 😀 Spill it, sister!!! How fun!!
I’ve had fun Googling many of their homes…they lived in a bunch!

Thanks Layla, look forward to seeing your post and will ABSOLUTELY watch the show! Thanks for the tip, I love his books. 😉

When I was a junior in high school we were moving to Montgomery. My mom and dad were house hunting and the realtor drove us by the house. She offered it as a ” fixer-upper”, telling us that the Fitzeralds had lived there, and my dad declined even looking at it, not being that skilled in remodeling. I would have loved seeing the house before it was prettied-up for display. It was about 1976 or 1977 when that happened.

Yes! It is wonderful. I love all the fashion and art deco decor.
