The Chapel Market – July Update

Jul 19, 2013 By Layla

Since we’re hosting The Chapel Market on October 19th, I thought it would be fun to do an update on the 19th of every month between now and then. The calendar says it’s July 19th today, so here goes!

The_Chapel_Meeting_House_The_Pike_Road_Alabama

Me and my (local) Chapel Market partner, Evan G. Cooper, have been busy gathering goodies and planning our spaces in preparation for the event.

Evan G Cooper and Layla Palmer The Lettered Cottage The Chapel Market

Evan is going to have a “bouquet booth” set up right in the middle of the chapel, and I’m really looking forward to having him there to help make everything look even more fabulous that day! #StylistExtraordinaire

I’m going to give that wooden stool we’re both holding a milk paint makeover before the sale, and I’ll probably sell the rattan bottle caddy with some sparkling pink lemonade in it because I just can’t get enough of the stuff!

And speaking of pretty in pink- I’m also going to be selling this old armoire at The Chapel Market, too…

Pink Armoire

Isn’t “she” cute? 🙂

The sale will run from 9am-5pm on Saturday, October 19th and this is the address:

1 Chapel Hill Street
Pike Road, Alabama
36064

Almost 300 people have RSVP’ed on The Chapel Market Facebook page so far, and we’re so excited to see/meet all the folks who are going to come out that day!

If you’re planning to come, but haven’t yet RSVP’ed, we’d love for you to swing by the Facebook page and click on the “Events” icon…

…then click, “Join”:

We’re having fun planning the refreshments right now, and that will give us a better idea of how much food and how many drinks to plan for.

The inside of the chapel measures 2500 square feet:

The vendors won’t necessarily be in those *exact* locations…I just wanted to show you how everything is laid out.

I’ve never organized anything like this before, but getting together with fellow “flea marketeers” sure sounded like a fun way to spend a Fall day to me! I’m so glad the chapel was available that day, and I am SUPER thankful that Mary Kay, Marian, Karianne, and Mary are all up for a trip to Alabama!

Hope to see you here, too!

I am so sad to have work conflicts that day. Any chance you’d extend it to Sunday, also? And also, will you be headed to Atlanta for the Country Living Fair the weekend after?

I seriously don’t think there has ever been an event like this I’ve wanted to attend more than this. I just adore all of these vendors / bloggers! Nothing gets my creative spirit going like a great event! I bet you all are having the best time planning for Chapel Market. I hope you have the time of your lives at the event & I sure hope I can make the trip down South to be a part of it. Still trying to work out the details, it’s a long way from Iowa, but crossing my fingers I can get there!

It looks marvelous…I know I started liking your blog when I lived in Arizona, but now live in St. Louis….The Chapel market is in October and in Alabama? Love everything you post.

Just booked hotel for Friday night!! Eeeeek! So excited. I told my kids this would be how they would feel if Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, and wolverine all were in the same room! (I have boys, can you tell? Haha!)

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I’m in love with that pink armoire. I want it! I want it! I want it!!!!!! That is so gorgeous. I wish so badly I could come for your market. Unfortunately I live in Illinois. 🙁

    • Layla

      Jul 19, 2013 at 10:29 am

Hey, Vara! One of our vendors, Mary from Urban Farmgirl is driving down from Illinois! Have you visited her shop in Rockford? SO AWESOME! 😀

        Jul 19, 2013 at 10:32 am

I actually have not, but the next time I make it up there I will. I live about 4 hours south of her.

I gotta tell ya, your neighborhood looks delightful! I can just picture folks sitting on their porches and talking with neighbors as children ride by on their bicycles and play in the yards. It reminds me of a modern day Mayberry. I’d want to live there. Gorgeous.

Oops…I forgot to ask..do you know of any cottage overnight rentals nearby or within a couple hours? Looking to see if we can find somewhere unique to stay or visit maybe try to make a little vacation out of the trip. Maybe somewhere fabulous like your Tybee Island cottages:)

      Hi Carrie!
You could check out the cabins at Callaway Gardens. My mom and I stayed together there once and it was so much fun! 🙂

Not trying to be critical because I really, really love your posts – but “Me and my (local) Chapel Market partner, Evan G. Cooper,” – should correctly say “My local Chapel Market partner, and I”. The way people speak these days is hard for me to handle and my grands are some of the worst. Thanks for understanding.

It looks like a lovely event! But all I keep thinking is: That cracker tin is an antique or at least a little bit retro? Ah! We had that and used it for crackers growing up! Am I chic or an antique?! 🙂

    • Layla

      Jul 19, 2013 at 2:04 pm

Chic for sure, April! 😀 And as for those vintage goodies- sure wish they made them that cool-lookin’ nowadays, don’t you? 😀

    Layla,

Every part of it looks super fun and exciting. What should those of us who don’t have a Facebook account do to RSVP? 🙂

    • Layla

      Jul 19, 2013 at 4:06 pm

No worries, Dawn! Just trying to get a general idea. 🙂 Can’t wait to meet you!

The pink Armour is gorgeous! If i ever saw something like that, i would purchase it and design my daughters bedroom based off that piece of furniture! (note: I don’t even have a daughter!)
