I am first and foremost me, but right after that, I am a mother. The best thing that I can ever be, is me. But the best gift that I will ever have, is being a mother.”

I would add “wife” to the best gift that I will ever have too. 😉 And speaking of my boys, it won’t be long til our baby is heading back to school. He starts on the 8th of August and then celebrates another birthday in November. Hard to believe he’ll seven soon!

Summer vacation has given us a lot of time to bond, and the five of us stuck pretty close to home most of the time, but I’m sure Steevenson will fall in love with school again once he’s comfortable with his new teacher and classmates. He said, “they will like me?” when we were talking about them recently and I’ve never felt more like a mom. Weird how your heart can break and swell at the same time, isn’t it? Whew! I love him so much.
We visited my mom in Florida this past weekend and I did a Q&A on Instagram on the way there. The most frequently asked question was “would you adopt again?”. Short answer: Yes! Adoption rocks and although we don’t have plans to start another adoption adventure right now, we are absolutely open to the possibility of growing our family through adoption in the future.
Right now, we’re still enjoying/exploring life together as a son, mama and daddy AND as a grandson, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandme´/mother-in-law and grandpe´/father-in-law…but who knows? Maybe we’ll reconfigure some rooms and bring another Palmer person in at some point! 🙂
In the meantime, my heart is full and my arms are empty, so I’m off to snuggle my Sonny til we both fall asleep. Nighty night, friends!

Your family is so blessed.

Have you ever thought of home schooling him. My adopted daughter went thru horrible separation anxiety about school. I did some research and it’s a real thin especially for children who were adopted after the age of one. She was almost three when we went to China to bring her home. She’s doing so well!! We’re all loving it!

Hi Judy!
Yes- but we wouldn’t want to keep him from his second favorite place to be (he LOVES seeing his friends every day!) and Kevin and I work from home, so it wouldn’t really work for us anyway. XO

Beautiful family and yes a mother is the best blessing one can have.

Yes, they will like him!! Who can resist that smile and that precious face? Blessings to you and Steevenson as another school year begins!

The mama moments are so sudden, arent they? Had one today where he was anxious about a camp trip and i got down low and we talked it thru. And he ended it with a long hug and a whisper- thank you mom. Amazing. Our foster adoption date is soon. Would you look at other avenues for adoption now that you have done this route? (Curious, not judgy, question). Our little asked recently if God knew he was praying for his famiky, did He know it meant all thr new ones too? So sweet.

Isn’t it funny how your arms feel empty and you just want to hold your little ones? Personally, I am in denial that he is almost 7 years old. Of course others will like him! Don’t we all worry a little about that? You are giving him the gift of growing as a person by allowing him to experience a little concern about how returning to school will go. It is hard on us moms, but good for him to experience this. You are a great mom!

I would not expect any other answer from you but a resounding YES!
Every photo of you, your beautiful son and amazing husband /father says it all
without saying a word. Looking at your family and following your story from the beginning “ I say to myself, what a wonderful world”💕

What a sweet, poignant message. I think many of your readers’ hearts swell and ache a bit with you at times as you share your journey of parenthood. You have such a precious little boy and family. So glad God blessed you and brought the three of you together!
