Which One Of These Fixtures Would YOU Choose?

Jun 13, 2017 By Layla

We interrupt this regularly scheduled “5 Things That Stopped Me In My Scroll” post to ask you a question about a light. Which one of these fixtures would you choose for my (in-progress) home office? 🙂

Number 1: *La Maison by Quorum

Number 2: *Lussan Pendant by One Allium Way

Number 3: *Eline Chandelier by Lark Manor

I may have to brush on a little more white paint on that last one, but I love it’s shape.

Here are all three fixtures, cut and pasted onto a photo of the room:

Keep in mind, those aren’t to-scale and the chains aren’t necessarily as long or short as they actually would be in real life.

If we’re friends on Instagram, you already know which one I’m leaning towards. It’s just kind of a big decision, so I thought it would be fun to see which one was your favorite too! 🙂

The lantern seems more you but the scalloped edge looks too frilly for me so I’d go with no3.

The third one seems to fit the theme of your home’s style so I chose it. Number two is a definite “no go”. I don’t recall having seen much sparkly, glitzy decor in your home number isn’t a good fit though it is gorgeous. Would the first one look out of place, it might be “the one” if you had a fancy desk underneath.

Definitely like number 1. Seems the proportions work better with the boarded wall. Do not like 2 at all! 3 too dainty for the room.

I personally love #1 but I think YOU would like #3 better. But I’ve been wrong before! 😉

No. 3. It is gentle on the eye, not fussy, yet gently makes a statement.
With the boards I think you need something that isn’t going to take too much attention away from them and I think that Number 3 is a winner.

My favorite is #3 and that’s what I voted for, however (!!!) the lantern NEEDS to be somewhere either inside or outside!!! It was a tough vote for me!

I got stuck in the spinning wheel of doom when I tried to vote. I think #3 is the right scale for the space. Good luck!! xo

I love the last one, #3. So so pretty. But whatever you go with it’ll be a beautiful room regardlesss. Take care.

I vote for 3. It looks as if it is an old antique fixture. Absolutely love the wall treatment too.

Lantern, but paint it gray or dull black—

Number 3 is my pick – love the room so far!

    LOVE the wall!!!!

I would never have picked number one until I saw it next to the wood. It softens the linear rustic look of the wall. The other two are too angular.

    I love the third one!

I think #1 and #3 look like the ones you see in deserted haunted houses in movies lol

    Jun 14, 2017 at 8:11 am

On second glance, I think they all look like they belong in haunted houses in a movie lol

Definitely no 3. 1 is a little too much, 2 looks like should !maybe be outside..almost looks like its snow covered so not quite enough ands 3 seems Just Right.

#3 is the one I would pick. Agree that this one is more your style and not so busy with your board wall. Plus you need good lighting in an office. Whatever you pick I know it will look super….

I would pick the one that helps provides the best lighting for the workspace, especially for the winter months when the days are shorter. I like the “pearls” on #3.

I agree! Function is very important with light fixtures.

  20. Claudia Phillips

I really think you should find an old light fixture at an antique store or on craigslist and adapt it (paint, ornaments, etc.). I think the ones in the post are overpriced. They are probably all mass produced in China with the cheapest quality materials. You could get a really nice second-hand brass fixture, paint it with ASCP (with a really great technique) and maybe add some wooden or glass beads.

Number 3 has your name (and mine!) written all over its darling self!

  22. Pam

    Jun 14, 2017 at 9:58 am

I love them all, but are you using them to light your Office? All the light points up and will offer little support for work light. Just something to ponder….

I like #1 because it is beautiful and also so unexpected! I like that in a room!

  24. Susan

    Jun 14, 2017 at 10:45 am

To me, it would be the second one! We bought a new house in April & just a few weeks ago had all of the light fixtures & fans replaced. There is so much to choose from and the look of the entire house changed with the lights & fans.

A light fixture does make such a statement, I see the lantern standing out & just as is, love that!

  25. Debbi

    Jun 14, 2017 at 11:20 am

The lantern (#2), while beautiful, would not give off much light, so I would go with #3.

I absolutely love the wall you did in blues for your office!!! Good Job!!

Lovin’ #3 – but it could depend on the size of the desk you choose, as #3 is a lot larger than #2. Not a fan of #1.

  28. Kel

    Jun 14, 2017 at 1:28 pm

The no 2 lantern looks too outdoorsy and I think wouldn’t be as bright for work on the desk below it. 3 would be great!!!!

    Love the lantern no. 2!!!!

I love #1 but not for the room. That being said, I think # 3 fits the bill. So cute. Keep up the good work and pick the one that speaks to you.

  31. Elizabeth

    #3 (back-up is #2).

  32. jean

    I see #3 and I see you.

  33. Cindy W

    Jun 14, 2017 at 2:29 pm

I voted #3 because I love it and it definitely fits your home but now I’m thinking I should have gone with #1! #1 is a girlie chandelier but the leaves keep it from being too frillie! And this is your office space – not Kevin’s! And it’s no so girlie that the men in your life will cringe every time they see it!

Bottom line though – go with your gut (which is what I should have done when I voted)!

  34. terrillr

It was a toss up between #1 and #3. I really like #1 best, but voted for #3. I really liked the “glitz and glam” that #1 provides, but then was afraid it was also a dust catcher. And, who wants to dust the fixture all the time? So, I went with my second choice, and one I could handle in my house… #3. 🙂

Which ever one you get, I’m sure will look fantastic!

I have #2. I absolutely love it. It is quite large. I got my from Joss and Main for $213 around Christmas time. The price fluctuates and I watched closely for the best deal.

I voted for #3 though I wanted to vote for #1 but you don’t seem like the #1 type. I could be wrong… and round and round I go…. which reminds me of the time we picked out light fixtures for our home. I finally realized the fixtures I chose would not be hanging in our home with all the other fixtures from the store competing for the same spot and people who came into our home wouldn’t be snickering and teasing us about why we chose that one with all those others as possibilities. It made choosing less difficult. Can’t wait to see if you go with the crowd choice because you love it, too, or if you have rebel blood. haha….

I know which one you have on Instagram, but the first one is AWESOME to me, just because it’s over the top large and in charge! Three is one I’ve seen too much lately.

What is your ceiling heights in this room? Some of these fixtures are really tall. I love the lantern but from my experience of having a lantern in my family room, the shadows and overall ability of it to light the room (even with 4 bulbs and a dimmer) isn’t the best.
Have you checked out Southeastern Salvage outside Bham? They have lots of lighting and pretty good prices too.
Whatever you decide I’m sure it’ll look great. Just be sure to add a dimmer! 😉

Hi Betsy! I think the ceiling is just under 10 feet. I haven’t ever heard of Southeastern Salvage but it sure sounds like a fun place! 😀

No. 3 would be my choice.

    Layla:

I love the wall! Someone made a comment re: this light being above your desk and work light. Are you going to have a light on your desk? I like the shape of the second light.

I love #1 and #3 but think you will pick #3. I have seen others that would look bettër
But these two are ok. Good Luck because this is your home and your choice. I love your
Decorating choices so I know you will make a good choice!
