Today, I want to introduce you to the best friend I’ve never met. 😉 Her name is Cat Bude and she’s a writer, photographer, foodie, vintage seller, and I could spend all day scrolling her Instagram feed.
I loved reading on her blog that she “met a ‘French guy’ at a dog-park in California” and that after 12 moves around the West Coast and the Pacific Northwest, they landed in Normandy, France where they now live in a 378-year old farm house with their three kids, three cats, two dogs, 17 chickens, five goats, two sheep, three geese, six ducks, 2 donkeys, and, from time to time, a bunch of cows.
She said “the adjustment and transition to a new home and culture was not always easy” and that it wasn’t until they found their ‘maison de rêve’ (dream house) in the late winter of 2013 that she really felt at home in the French countryside.
They named their home Rabbit Hill, and as previous bed and breakfast owners, they began coordinating and guiding vintage shopping tours. They also created Rabbit Hill Foodie, which are markets and cooking workshops held right there at the farm. She also hosts monthly online pop-ups sales on the first Saturday of every month, too. She finds and shares vintage items and lifestyle essentials that she has come to know and love since moving to France. She says, “Each pop-up is a little different, featuring a favorite style or item; kitchen wares, linens, or decor items — and always with the rustic and authentic French country charm that we adore here at Maison Rabbit Hill.” (She ships worldwide, too!)
Cat says, “Our days at Rabbit Hill are filled with daily tasks involving the farm-family members, photography projects, writing, recipe testing, and enjoying French country life in ‘belle Normandie’.”
Makes me feel warm and fuzzy just reading it! 🙂 *sigh*
If her story resonates with you too, I highly encourage you to check out her website and Instagram feed. But before you go, I’ve got to walk you through Cat’s kitchen. It’s just on the other side of this whimsical window…
Here’s the view looking back out the other way…look at that charming old barn!
And if you step back just a bit more…
…the room will take your breath away too!
Okay, now skedaddle! There are lots more pretty pics where these came from!

I found Rabbit Hill farms years ago and have been smitten since! I wish our paths would have crossed when she and her husband lived in the Northwest it would have been nice to meet her in person . I so enjoy her online shop as well and purchased her linen apron and french market basket which are a treasure.
This is so picturesque! I can only imagine what it is like to live this amazing lifestyle in the country! Thanks for providing some details about Cat’s working farm and products. You rock!
