Howdy- and welcome to our Home May’d Summer mantel link party!

Of course this party isn’t really limited to just mantels though– we wanna see all kinds of Summer-y displays! Whether they’re on a window sill, a bookshelf, a ledge- you name it, we’d love for you to link ’em!

Our overall goal with this years Summer mantel display here at TLC was to create something simple yet fun…think: picker meets picnic!

And, as usual, we mainly used things we already had around the house. We did spend about $28 to make the wood/word art…

The other items we used were pulled from various nooks and crannies around the cottage…

(Driftwood sailboats- White Flower Farmhouse; Candleholders- Pottery Barn; Knot ball- TJ Maxx; Faux flowers and striped pillow cover- Ikea; Live flowers- Home Depot; Cricket cage, soda crates, picnic basket and wood plant pots- Various flea markets.)
To give the old cricket cage a little more Summer-inspired spark, we hot-glued a white pencil starfish to the front of it…

…and to add a little pop to the top- we stuck our $7 Ikea “fauxliage” down inside it…

Now let’s get this party started, shall we?!
If you already know the link party drill, feel free to scroll on down and link away!
If you’ve never linked up to a link party before, here’s how it works…
1.Scroll down this page until you see the “add your link” button. Click it, and create a super-descriptive name for your link. Something like, “Seaglass Summer Mantel”, or “My Beachy Bookcase”. That’ll make it easier for folks to browse through all the links.
2.Make sure you link directly to the Summer display post you’d like to share– not to the main page of your blog.
3.Last but not least, we’d sure appreciate it if you’d slap this button at the end of your Summer display post on your blog. Just copy and paste the code in the box below into the html part of your post, and voila!

<div align="center"><a href="https://theletteredcottage.net/ideas-for-summer" title="The Lettered Cottage"><img src="http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/LaylaPalmer/Linky%20Buttons/Spring_Summer_Link_Party_Layla.jpg" alt="The Lettered Cottage" style="border:none;" /></a></div>
Thanks for linking up, and we look forward to seeing you on How To’s Day next week!

(PS- Thanks to Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick for hosting the Home May’d Spray Paint link party, Kate at Centsational Girl, for hosting the Home May’d Outdoor Ideas link party, and Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for hosting the Home May’d Summer Recipe link party this past week!)

I LOVE your mantle, Layla! This linky party week has been so much fun; I’ve linked up in each one. I think I’m going to use your fireplace as inspiration to makeover my brick fireplace (the family room one – see the link) Thanks again!

Love the mantel!! So Pretty!
This is one of your best mantel vignettes. The plants, wood, and nautical elements reinforce the important reminders. Superbly done!
Love the simplicity. Summer can’t be too complicated especially given the heat here in Alabama! I do have to add my 2 cents worth on your “primitive bee trap.” I believe it is actually an old cricket cage used to hold bait for fishing. I have one just like it. I’ve used mine as a candle holder but I love your repurposing as a plant vessel. My motto when picking has often been, “I can stick a plant in it!”
Thanks KK! The tag on that thing read “bee trap”, but I kinda doubted that’s what it really was!
😀
Layla,
I follow your blog almost daily. I can’t wait to see what great ideas you’ll post next, and I’m looking forward to how-to Tuesday with the word art! Your mantel is gorgeous!!! I LOVE the candle sconces and have been looking for something similar for my mantel. Can you tell me if these were purchased at Pottery Barn recently? I just went online and didn’t see anything similar. Thanks for your help!
Jessica
Thanks Jessica! Here’s a link to the candleholders:

Thanks so much for hosting! I love, love, love, the display inside of your fireplace box!
I LOVE your mantel! It’s so fun and creative, and the wood tones and greenery look great together.
I’m sorry Layla, I didn’t read carefully enough and linked something not in the theme. I can’t figure out how to delete it. I’m so sorry….it’s number 68 if you can delete it….thanks
Love your mantel!!! so simple and perfect:)
You two are always an inspiration!
Your mantle is lovely! I can’t wait to see how you made the wood art. I found an old pallet under our shed and I’m brainstorming things I can do with it — maybe something like this! Thank you for hosting this link party!
So many beachy vignettes!! I guess summer is here, lol. I think I’m gonna gather all the eye candy and feature it on my blog! Sadly I don’t have a mantel…, well it’s okay. There’s rustic painted TV cabinet instead with a large sailboat on top. Great party!!!
This is a terrific mantle. Love your lettered wood art – fantastic – reminds us to take it slow and easy during the summer – love all your accessories – great resources. Thank you for hosting this fun party,
Kathy
I have always loved your gorgeous mantel displays you come up with! I loved it so much I had to re-create your mantel ( I hope I have “done you proud!”)
-Amanda
Just wanted to add my thanks for hosting this wonderful party for us.~Poppy
Your pictures make me want to clean out my fireplace (it is a working one) really well and put cool stuff there for the next 4 months! So pretty and clean!
Didn’t get a mantle project done yet, but did finish another! YAY ME! This blog post has inspired me to strip everything off of the mantle and begin the build a fresh & Spring themed mantle. And since I have so many lovely ideas to pull from in this link party, I should be able to put something awesome together.
Have a blessed holiday weekend!
WOW! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE your summer mantel! YOU ARE AMAZING!
I have loved everyone of your mantel’s. I looks forward to the changing seasons, just to see the next mantle:)
