Happy Friday, friends!
I thought I’d share a couple of photos of the progress we’ve made with the beadboard planks in our master bedroom. It’s primed (with Kilz) and painted with 3 coats of Simply White by Benjamin Moore:
Obviously, we still have lots more planks to attach to the wall to finish out the X-style design, but I’m happy to see it (finally) coming together, section by section. Once all the planks are up, we’ll re-attach the crown molding and baseboard cap molding, and then use some kind of trim down the sides of the walls to finish everything off, nice and neat.
I mentioned this in a previous post, but in case you missed it, the reason we decided to go with the X-style layout is because we love a fun twist on a old school material. Folks did do it back in the day though. Check out this historic home that donned its planks on the diagonal too:
And I love the mix of diagonal and vertical in this historic home in Hudson, NY:
Here’s another fun mix:
And I don’t know how (or if) it was originally on the ceiling in this next house, but I love how they incorporated it in this historic New Orleans home:
I’m hoping to get another section attached and painted within the next couple of weeks. I’ll post more pics when it’s up! 🙂

You say obviously we have a lot more but I thought Oh my!!! You’ve done so MANY already!!! You do have a small child too!!! And a job and life. This is tons done!! It looks amazing!! Thank you for sharing the journey.
One thing I’ve learned is that sometimes fast looks great but other times a lengthy project truly shows in the end!!! Perfection cannot be rushed.

Should I show the ceilings that are done to my husband or not? I know he will want to do our dining and den ceilings like that. He has too many projects now.
