We’ve got an awesome giveaway courtesy of the folks at Design Star for ya this weekend!
The new season starts this Monday, July 11th (9/8 central) and will once again feature 12 talented designers, all competing for a chance to host their own design show on HGTV.
The show takes place in New York City, and like we mentioned in this post, the fabulous Mr. David Bromstad will be mentoring the contestants this time around.
Host, Tanika Ray is joining the cast this season and she’s tons of fun, so I’m stoked they’ve added her to the show! And, of course, judges Genevieve Gorder, Candice Olson and Vern Yip will be back to critique the contestants designs at the end of each episode each week.
And look! David was right! The judges are smiling and laughing more this time! (LOL)
This season will also include a few celebrity guests such as Nate Berkus, Robert and Courtney Novogratz, Kathy Ireland and Paula Deen.

Yay! What a great group of judges and participants that HGTV has put together…. even though i’m married to and Architect/Designer, i still get my HGTV On for inspiration! Thank you for a rockin’ giveaway because we are redoing every room and then moving onto building another house on the back lot. Whew!

Design Star is fun to watch. Love to see how they figure things out on each challenge and to think of what I would do if I had to. Will try to catch the show on my DVR.

I’ve never watched, but I plan to Monday. I remember Genevive and Vern from Trading Spaces and loved them. One of the things I’ll always remember Vern for was a set of framed butterflies he did…and Genevive always had something funky and fun going on ~ but that red ring she wore from Afghanistan was superfly! Candice is the super cool with her luxe take on design, her show was always so fun and I love her perspective. So, I’ll be watching…maybe I’ll get hooked. 🙂

I’ve never watched Design Star, but I started watching Food Network Star this season and enjoy it. I know I’d love Design Star too! I used to watch Trading Spaces in college and have always loved Divine Design so I’m excited to see the judges. Thanks for the opportunity and the interviews you’ve featured over the last few weeks!
I had never seen Design Star before, but after reading what you had to say about it, I checked it out on Hulu. My daughter and I loved it!!! We do not have cable or dish, so I am disappointed that we will have to wait to see it until the season is over and it is online. What a fun show to watch!
If it were up to me, HGTV and FoodNetwork would be the only channels in our home! I love to see anything designed by Candice Olsen – love her style!
