Armoire Reveal (Beadboard Wallpaper)

May 5, 2015 By Layla

This Gray Cashmere is such a chameleon color! Sometimes it looks blue, sometimes it looks gray…I just love it!

The handles (which weren’t the ones I had originally planned to use) came from Etsy…

…and the hats came from my stash. It was Kevin’s idea to hang them there, and I squealed as soon as he suggested it!

I moved the plant stand in from the dining room, and I love the way it pops.

I also wanted to include a close up photo of the distressing we did on the doors…

Cashmere Gray | Benjamin Moore

Just a rubber sanding block wrapped in 80 grit sandpaper, and voila!

I told you about my buffalo check snafu the other day, but the beadboard wallpaper ended up being just what the doctor Layla ordered. I found it at Lowes, and it was super simple to work with. I just measured the areas I wanted to cover, cut out my pieces of wallpaper, soaked them in the bathtub for 30 seconds, folded them in half (for five minutes) so that the paste on the back side could get tacky, unfolded them and stuck them onto the armoire. After they were in place, I pushed out all the air pockets and excess paste. I just kept wiping (with paper towels) until no more paste oozed out.

I let the wallpaper dry over night, and painted it with two coats of Gray Cashmere (Benjamin Moore) the next day.

Take THAT, botched buffalo check! 😀

Looks lovely! I LOVE decorating with hats… especially straw ones. It always transports me to fond memories of my girlhood 🙂 Thank goodness for bead board wallpaper and fresh coats of paint 😉 Love how this armoire turned out!

I used that beadboard wallpaper for a cheap fix kitchen backsplash and, with a coat of paint, it’s held up fine for two years. Love the look for so little effort and money!

Why is there a hole in your wall and where does it go to?

Love it! I can’t visualize buffalo check on the piece, this is perfect! Wonder if I can do this on my island? I want beadboard, but don’t want to deal with the thickness of it around the outlet. Maybe I will give it a try! Thanks for the inspiration!

I used that wallpaper on my kitchen ceiling, on the wall of the stairs, and on my appliance cabinet. It’s great stuff, although I wouldn’t recommend using it in high traffic areas because it gouges very easily. I’ll probably take it down from the stairway eventually. It looks good on your cabinet though!

Beadboard wallpaper ..what a great solution..will keep it in mind for future dilemmas.
And reading about the paint by numbers pictures reminded me of my childhood,
and what fun it would be to do it again..the hangers are such a great idea.
    Thanks for the inspiration 😀

Of course, I always end up liking all of your ideas and probably would have like the buffalo check, but I really like this instead! Glad it worked out.

It looks so great! Not surprised though, everything you do looks amazing!

I have two random questions from you. Where did you get your roman bamboo shades in the kitchen and living room? I am on the hunt and dont know where to go. Also, are they hard to install?

Lastly, your backsplash! I cannot get over how beautiful it is. Do you mind me asking where you purcahsed it?

Thank you for allowing me to obsess over your projects. I look forward to your posts everyday!

My living room is painted Gray Cashmere. I love this color – it’s just fantastic and totally changes from blue to green to gray depending on the light and the time of day. The armoire also turned out great!

You are so creative and everything you do looks so wonderful. What is the square framed hole in the wall above the basket?
