DIY Sideboard Tutorial

Nov 25, 2010 By Layla

Hey there!
I wanted to share a link to a project we worked on for HGTV.com this past Summer. Do you remember the console table-turned-sideboard we used in the Mess Hall on Tybee Island?

Click on the red button below if you’re interested in seeing our step by step tutorial!

Thanks again, and have an awesome weekend!

(So excited to see how you decorated your mantel on Tuesday!)

I have been following your blog for a while now and somehow missed that you were adopting! How very exciting. We have adopted 3 times from Russia and were also blessed to have a child biologically prior to our adoptions…truly all of our children are a miracle and gifts from God. I will try to scroll back to your older posts and see where you are adopting…intl. or domestic.

I will also keep you guys in my prayers. Adoption is not for the faint at heart…but adoption is the will of God and He always blesses it! I cannot wait to follow your adoption journey. Congratulations!

We adopted an 8yr old child, and he’s been the most wonderful blessing we never knew we wanted! We agreed to watch him for ‘two weeks’ while his mother sobered up. Little did we know God wanted us to raise him as our own. Two months into it he was asking to call ME mommy! *SOB* He’s so precious and unbelievably grateful all the time! I’ve learned so much from him and feel so honored and privileged to have him in our lives. God will give you just the right one. I’m so happy for you two. You’ll NEVER regret it! It’s a daily awesome moment right in front of your eyes. 🙂

Oh, I didn’t know you were adopting, that’s fantastic! I actually work with kids in the foster care system before they become adoptable (if that’s the route their case takes). Have you looked into state and federal subsidies? Between state, federal, and county governments, it’s often possible to adopt from the United States for almost no money, especially if they’re two years old or older. Just thought that might help a little bit – people who want to adopt are usually incredible people and deserve all the help they can get!

    Nov 29, 2010 at 12:26 pm

Congratulations on your adoption! Family rocks, and though I don’t know you, it is obvious you are deeply in love with each other and life…a perfect haven for a wee one. We are one big whacky family enjoying life, loving each other through the good, bad and ugly. Our crew is created biologically and through domestic and international adoption totaling seven kiddos between the ages of 4 and 12! Just so thrilled for you, and will keep you in my prayers!

I believe children are God’s miracles. I have two loving little boys (biological). However, my brother and sister-n-law have adopted three marvelous, beautiful children of their own. Unable to have children and not enough funds for a typical adoption, they went through the foster system. God has blessed them and I know he will do the same for two incredible people as yourselves. There is a little boy or girl out there waiting with their heart wide open for the two of you to fill with love. Congratulations!
