Happy New Year!
I shared this Edith Lovejoy Pierce quote on Facebook yesterday, but wanted to post it here today as well…
“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter begins on New Years Day.”
Isn’t that great? Â I hope you had an amazing 2010, and that your 2011 is everything you want it to be!
I’m anxiously awaiting Kevin’s arrival, (how it is possible to miss someone so much when they’ve only been gone 24 hours?) So, in the meantime, I thought I’d put up today’s “Few of my Favorites” post. Â Hope you’ll link up to it!

We REALLY appreciate the blog love from all you sweet folks, and from everyone else who shared a link to our blog (or just took the time to read it) this past year. We really hope you know that you and the friendly folks who visit from your blogs added an enormous amount of sunshine to our lives in 2010!
And we also wanna give a big shout out to all the fine folks who scooped up ad spots in our sidebar last year. (Some of whom advertised with us the entire year! HudsonGoods.com, LeenTheGraphicsQueen.com, RedLetterWords.com, FarmhouseWares.com, ForLoveOrFunny.com, EngLady, WhiteflowerFarmhouse.com.) We thoroughly enjoyed working with ALL of our 2010 sponsors, and can’t thank you all enough for giving our blog a shot!
Now then, who wants to party?!
We’d love to read your favorite blog post of 2010, so if you’re up for sharing it, just follow the instructions below to link it up!
– Scroll all the way down ’til you see a little blue “add your link” button. Click it, and follow the steps from there to add your link and a small photo. (Make sure to enter your favorite post title when it asks you for your name.)
– Also, be sure to link directly to your favorite post, not the main page of your blog.
– Here’s a button to add to your blog post if you’d like to invite readers over to our party!
<div align="center"><a href="https://theletteredcottage.net/a-few-of-my-favorite-blog-posts-2010" title="The Lettered Cottage"><img src="http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/LaylaPalmer/2010%20Linky%20Images/Favorite_Blog_Posts.jpg" alt="The Lettered Cottage" style="border:none;" /></a></div>

Layla, I love this. LOVE it. I’ve linked to a couple of other 2010 round-up parties, and they’ve been fun, but it’s really great the way you’ve divided things into categories. I especially like to be able to see some of bloggers’ favorite posts–I love to read posts in which bloggers are reflective, those in which they really put their souls out there.
Thank you for giving us a chance to share our favorites! It’s now just after noon on the first day of 2011, and I hope that this is a wonderful, wonderful year for you!
April@The 21st Century Housewife
Happy New Year to you both! Thank you for hosting this Layla – it a great way to help folks review their blogging year by finding the posts they feel our their best work or that they are proud of. I linked up a post about Remembrance Day (similar to Memorial Day in the US). Unfortunately my photo didn’t work properly on the linky – I guess my photo was too big – but hopefully it will be okay anyway. I so enjoy visiting your blog, and I look forward to seeing all the projects you and Kevin get up to in the New Year!

hey Ms Layla-
first of all, thank you. For inspiring me to keep up a little with my own simple decorating. Your posts about your mantle being a “seasonally inspired” decorating place gave me a launch into at least loving that part of my house. Our home is small. 1300 sq feet & we have 5 kids, SO keeping up is a big part & yet this space of my house now cheerfully greets me. I just redid, after taking down the Christmas stuff & decided I missed it a little but wasn’t ready (unlike Target BTW;{ ) to put up Valentines. SO, Winter Mantle it is.
Also, wanted to tell you I follow you on Twitter (AChefsWife) and your Christmas (yes, I know I shouldn’t have been cell phone in face twit reading, it makes me a Christmas twit but……I was) and it made me cry. Seriously. I added my name to the Six Seeds for you & when I saw your gift from Mr Wonderful….it made me cry. I am blessed with 5 kids & my heart just aches for anyone, everyone that longs to be a mother…I am so happy someone out there will be loved by someone who so longs for them, its magical. SO. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Congratulations & Thank You. Nuf said!
Peggy
