Well, 2010 is almost over, and boy was it a busy year! Kevin’s actually not off the hook quite yet. He’s gotta work ’til after midnight tonight…
(He’s a rock n’ roller, and rock n’ rollers almost always work on New Years Eve)
So while he’s out doin’ his thing, I’ll be quietly ringin’ in the new year here at home, Layla-style. Snuggled in bed, with my laptop- lookin’ through all those lovely links you left for us yesterday! And I must say, I’m very excited about spending New Years Eve with you!
And, hey, thank you for making 2010 so much fun too. We’ve had the best time blogging about every little thing throughout this past year, but “meeting” and sharing some of the days our lives here with you made it even more super-cali-fradge. We’re sending a big ol’ round of virtual bear hugs and butterfly kisses your way today!
Now onto today’s “A Few of my Favorites”! This one’s all about Tutorial posts. Here are a few of my favs from 2010…

Do you have a favorite tutorial post on your blog you’d like to share? If so, we’d love for you to link it up!
Here’s how you do it:
– Scroll down ’til you see the little blue “add your link” button. Click it, and follow the steps from there to add your link and a small photo. (Make sure to create a descriptive name for your link, like “Pottery Barn Lampshade” or “Mason Jar Lights”. This will make it easier for folks to browse.)
– Also, be sure to link to your specific tutorial post, not the main page of your blog.
– Here’s a button to add to your blog post if you’d like to invite readers over to our party!
<div align="center"><a href="https://theletteredcottage.net/a-few-of-my-favorite-tutorials-2010" title="The Lettered Cottage"><img src="http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/LaylaPalmer/2010%20Linky%20Images/Favorite_Tutorials_Button.jpg" alt="The Lettered Cottage" style="border:none;" /></a></div>
Just paste the code in the box above into your blog post, and voila!

Girl, you know how to find the goods!! So pumped that you featured Nic. She ROCKS.
Is that really a pic of Kevin’s band? What a great shot!! And I love the deers head, plywood floor, and subway sign! All of them were good – those are just my faves! Thanks so much for sharing and hosting!
Ha! Your favs are my favs, too! Thanks, again, for hosting!
Layla-
What an amazing group of women and tutorials you’ve featured here! I can’t wait to try out a few of these projects and scour over thier sites! Thank you!!!! I have plenty of inspiration for the new year!
Happy New Year!
Layla, I recently got a laptop and snuggling in bed while playing in blogland has become one of my favorite things to do.
I’m looking forward to see what y’all have up your sleeves in 2011.
Happy New Year!
So, a question – how do you keep track of blog posts that you love but they’re not on blogs that you follow? I find great things – like several that your mentioned, but don’t know how to save them for future reference. Do you have a very organized favorites folder that you use? Or is there a better trick?
Thanks for all your inspiration this year!
Hey Alea!
I keep an email in my drafts folder called “Tutorials” and keep adding links to it throughout the year.
I know that’s probably not the “best” way, but it’s MY way, and it works for me! 🙂
Layla
There once was a beautiful girl named Layla Palmer.
She married her love Kevin who is quite a charmer.
They both have talents galore,
We all pray 2011 will bring them a baby and more.
So their life will be just a titch calmer.
Happy New Year
Hi Layla!
I have been a follower for a few months now and find your blog so helpful in “looking beyond the obvious.” I can’t tell you how much my vision has changed where now I see treasure instead of junk!
Anyway, my hubby and I own a house and have some lov-er-ly pine paneling in our living room, almost identical to what you had in yours. I’ve been bugging the hubby for years now to let me paint it because it is the same awful shelacked (sp?), knicked, ugly pine that you painted a lovely white. Can you share with me your process of painting? Also, I’ve been toying with the idea of whitewashing it so it almost has a pickled, weathered look. What do you think?
Thanks!
Amanda
Love, love, love your blog full of amazing ideas and tons of love. Wishing the best for you both and hopefully a new little one in 2011.
Hi Layla-
Your New Year’s Eve sounds perfect to me. Hopefully you won’t be asleep by the time Kevin gets home and you can ring in 2011 with him then.

Layla — my hubby was a professional musician for years…so I’m familiar with your New Year’s Eve! 🙂 Now that he’s hung up his guitar (kinda), we love staying home together. LOVE your blog and all you two are accomplishing. Can’t wait to follow along in 2011!
