How To Paint Your Ceramic Floor Tile

Feb 19, 2017 By Layla

…and while we’re on the subject of floor tiles…have you seen with Mysha’s ‘How To Paint Your Tile‘ tutorial?

Homegirl literally painted her existing ceramic tiles to mimic the look of cement tiles!!!

How creative is that?! I scrolled to the bottom of the comment thread on her post and she said that it has held up beautifully and that she has only had to touch up a couple of spots since painting/sealing it in 2015.

I found a second post on her blog that shows how she continued the pattern out into the mudroom too:

Gorgeous! (My knees do ache when I think about actually painting it though- ha!) 😀

Here’s a link to Mysha’s blog:

She’s got lots of fun projects over there. Here are a few of my favs:

DIY Marble Shelving:

$50 DIY British Brace Barn Door:

DIY Brick Veneer Backsplash:

I had a “light bulb” moment this morning while staring at one of the walls in the Bungalow Barn today, so I’m looking forward to sharing a low cost/big bang DIY project this Friday, too. Assuming it turns out the way I envisioned it in my mind this morning- ha! 😀

How about you? Have you worked on or blogged about a neat DIY project lately?

I keep telling my husband we need to paint the pink tiles in our powder room, which we’ve hated ever since we bought this house. He says it doesn’t work and will be a mess. However, removing the tile and redoing the powder room is expensive and messy. I will show him this. Thanks!

I’m in the process of painting my bathroom tiles..after many tutorials I chose to go with garage floor paint instead as I’m stenciling over existing white tiles and not the whole floor. Fingers crossed it works!!

I never thought about chalk paint, all the tutorials I’ve seen about painting tile or countertops require priming, painting and sealer, would be nice to skip the priming step! Her floor looks stunning!
Has anyone tried chalk paint on Formica counters? I’d be interested to know how it holds up?

I did a fun rearrange of my books over the weekend. Fun for ME, at least. After having them turned around, for some all-neutral ARTSY-ness, they are now grouped by color. My style icon, Diane Keaton, did the same thing in her house once. https://redbirdv.wordpress.com/2017/02/20/a-for-color-coordination/

Disclaimer: mine isn’t technically a DIY, is it? OOPS. I really hate big tiles like that, but I super love the re-do!

Before you go for that brick backsplash, it is soooo hard to keep clean. Grease gets on them from cooking and the clay is porous/ grout is rough and it just doesn’t come clean.

I painted my bathroom tile after finding this same blog via pinterest. It turned out amazing!!!!!! Then the 1000 year flood happened! When my husband was frantically ripping out the bedroom carpet and bathtub and shower, he damaged my beautifully painted floors. One day I will paint some tile again. But for right now I’ll just enjoy the unexpected renovation we just completed on our house!

Wow! I would have never thought to do that! I have done a lot of little projects lately, but have yet to publish the posts. This past weekend I added trim to our kitchen island to make it look more like a piece of furniture. It turned out great!

Can’t wait to see your little DIY project.
