“God’s not done with me yet. He’s got plans to use this broken voice, and this broken vessel to talk about His goodness.”
-Peter DeSoto
Okay! By the time this post is published, Kevin and I will be on our way to Atlanta, where we’ll spend the night (Tuesday) and fly off to Haiti on Wednesday. Weeeeeeeeeee! 😀 Prayers appreciated for a smooth flight and reunion with our Sweet P.
We’re meeting up with another (Lifeline) family at the airport in Haiti, and we’ll be staying together all week. They are also adopting a little boy from Three Angels Children’s Relief, and I can hardly contain my excitement when I think about being there with them!! We had hoped to travel with them back in February/March when we went on our 2-week socialization trip, but their son’s paperwork wasn’t quite ready at that point, so we ended up missing each other by about two months. Tacy (the mama) and I have become very close over the past couple of years. We’re on opposite sides of the country, but we text almost daily and I’m so glad we’re on this journey together.
(Tacy with her son on the left, in May & me with mine on the right, in March)
We both know what it was like to stand by that window with our babies, in the room where they both sleep. We both know the sounds that pour in between those louvers, and how our babies automatically repeat them. We’ve seen their smiles aimed straight at us, and we know what it feels like to be absorbed by the direction of their eyes. We both know the weight behind the wait and, unfortunately, we both know what it feels like to have to say goodbye. What a Gift to be able to experience all those things together this time.
And speaking of Three Angels Children’s Relief…
Today, I want to take a moment to introduce you to their executive director, Peter DeSoto. We haven’t had the chance to meet him in person yet (he’s in California too), but were so moved by his message at the end of this video. If you have time to watch it, I know you will be too:
For years we have dreamt about what it would look like to help families in the midst of their crises so that they never consider giving up their children for adoption. What would it look like to create a place where they can come and hear that God is for them, loves them, and desires for them to stay together? How amazing would it be to have a beachhead in the middle of the city where families know they can come to get help, and in doing so, meet Jesus through every interaction with our staff, missionaries, and volunteers.

Such a beauty-full thing he and the folks at Three Angels have created with so many families in and around Delmas. I look forward to connecting with you from there via Periscope and Instagram whenever we have wifi this week! XO
all the best wishes to you for a safe and fulling journey!
What a mighty God we serve! I love reading updates about your adoption journey. We also live in Montgomery. I emailed the company you mentioned the other day and have a box of jewelry on its way for my Christmas in July get together for the ladies in my Sunday school class. Can’t wait to see the beautiful creations from those beautiful mamas.

Praying for all three of you. Thank you for the updates.
When I read this post, I felt like I could feel your smile. Enjoy! Can’t wait to hear about it and to find out the next steps.
Your sense of joy and anticipation is palpable! God be with you during your travels and visit. You’ll all be in my prayers.
God bless.
So emotional in so many ways. May God strengthen you all to manage what you must manage while you are there. Trust He sees every little detail. Nothing gets past Him. Rest in Him always knowing He understands and is in control. To truly rest in Him is a huge act of faith. He will take you through this whole process and in the end, you will know even better what a glorious God He is! Have a wonderful wonderful time!
Praying for travel mercy to Haiti. Have fun with your son and get to know each other. You and Kevin are such an inspiration to other adoptive families. Just think, it’s not much longer and you’ll be bringing Sweet Pea home ‘forever’. Your friend in Nashville, Susan
That story was so very beautiful and encouraging. May we all live our lives so boldly and fearlessly. May God use our human weakness for His glory, and may we not be so foolish as to let our weakness and imperfection hold us back from going all in.
Have a wonderful trip and a safe flight!!
