“After all, I believe the nicest and sweetest days
are not those on which anything very splendid
or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those
that bring simple little pleasures, following one
another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.”
-L.M. Montgomery
No new design or adoption news, so I thought I’d share some simple pleasures from the weekend.
Saturday morning, I remembered why I still don’t want to put all those blankets away.
Saturday afternoon, I found a package from Tiffini on our front porch. Inside of it- art for our little one’s room!
(Thank you, Tiffini! I love it SO much!)
I read this post about April & Africa on Saturday night, and I’m determined to hug her in person this year. 🙂
(Pouf- RH Baby & Child)
Kevin played at the four o’clock service in Old Cloverdale on Sunday, so we decided to go outside and soak up a little sunshine that morning…
(Two-story Blue is back on the market. #WhatAreTheOdds)
We’ve never lived in a neighborhood with sidewalks, so we try to get out and follow them as often as we can.
I read that, “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks”, and boy, isn’t that the truth?
There’s just Something about being outside that is so good for the inside, ya know?
Burdens feel smaller when you’ve got that much room to breathe, I guess.
Better ideas seem to blow around in the breeze.
Looks like Amazing Grace is vacant now, too.
Hope whoever moves in likes to take walks. 😉
Enjoy the new week!

From what I’ve seen boy that neighborhood seems ideal. I love sidewalks and we don’t have any where we live, just roads that dead end on each side. So beautiful your photos are.
I totally don’t understand what is painted on the art………….. translation?
Oh Duh…………. just got it!
I didn’t get it either. Third time I did. Don’t feel bad. 🙂
Oh, how I’d love to live there!!!!
If I could talk my husband into moving down that way…the homes there are just gorgeous!
love your weekend wanderings…..
love Tiffini’s sign. 🙂
You have FLOWERS BLOOMING!? Ugh…high of 13 degrees in Illinois tomorrow and we still have snow drifts. =-( Jealous of you!
I would love to live in your area. I’ll say it again…it is like a slice of heaven. Add in the friendly folks and neighbors and it is the sweetest town I could ever imagine. You are so lucky to have found that spot. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your simple weekend wanderings. Some days on the way out to take my girls to school or run an errand, the air hits me, the sky is blue, and I just want to stand and soak in the goodness and beauty.
I am embarrassed to say that it took me a long time to figure out what oh dar linglets beadven turers meant! ha! I thought… beavers? That can’t be it…
Beautiful photos! Beautiful imagery to describe your beautiful post on the simple things — love it!
lol!! I am sooo glad I wasn’t the only one that thought that sign was in some other language. (at first some spell with meaning from Harry Potter)
Love your pictures, so quaint and homey.
You found a heart on the sidewalk. What a special moment! Your own heart must be wide open and ready, because you see them everywhere. Very cool.
Layla…I just gotta say your posts simply make my heart sing. I am going through something terrible right now, not something I want but gonna happen, its out of my hands, and I’m putting into god’s hands now.
And your are so right…it really IS the simple things that are big BIG things. Thank you for always making me “feel” better, “be” more postivie,, you are just a amazing person, I can tell! I think that’s what being happy brings out. Your pictures of your walk are so beautiful, and when I read your captions I always think WOW she see’s things like I do, ya know like you don’t think others “see” things that way too, and never say them out loud. YOU DO and I love that about you. So I feel blessed to have stumbled across your blog a few years ago or so. Simply blessed!
AND I gotta say that picture of you and Keving walking, ahhhhhhhhh just breathtaking, I hope you hang that on the wall someday AND never ever forget the love you have for each other, priceless!!!
Happy week~
Lisa
I’m buying Amazing Grace!!!
Come on down, Sweet T!!!! 😀 It’s right across the street!
I want to move where you guys live. I moved from CA to Idaho in June 2013 and not sure it is ultimately for me.
Any ideas. I am single with a precious shih-tsu named Presley
Sweet post! I love those kinds of days! Smiles!
Just the breath of fresh air that I needed! Thanks Layla, you always know what to say and just when to say it.
Love all these outdoor pictures you shared today. As I sit looking out my office window at snow falling and blowing, and -28 degrees (celcious) on the thermometer, it was nice to see some green. Your neighborhood is adorable 🙂
Thank you for the walk outside, just what I needed this morning!
Just stopped by to say – I CAN’T BELIEVE YOUR CROCUSES ARE UP!! We actually have six inches of snow here in DC (it’s a miracle!), and it seems to me that this area is unreasonably warm as a place could get. It’s unreal to see crocuses and azaleas turning green for spring!
What a powerful post. Awe inspiring 🙂 it fills my heart with joy to see/read about all these incredible people, including you and Kevin. Praying for you tonight.
