Happy Friday, friends! 😀
Today I thought I’d share a consultation I worked on recently. Here’s the photo my client sent me of the exterior of her home:
In her email, she mentioned possibly wanting to paint *part* of the house, but not necessarily the whole thing. At least not all at once. She also mentioned adding some more dimension, extending the privacy fence on the left side of the yard, swapping out the garage door, doing something special with the gravel part of their driveway and adding more modern house numbers. Here’s what I had fun coming up with:
I did all the things on her list and also added cedar shakes (to tie in with the new front door, which she also requested) and added a black window box and shutters. You’ll notice I also added an eyebrow roof above the garage to give her that dimension she was craving, and popped in a couple of evergreen trees behind the privacy fence on the left side of the pic. I was thinking they’d help block the large expanse of siding they see on their neighbor’s house there. I didn’t add a fence on the right side of the photo (because she didn’t mention wanting on there, and I’m not exactly what the yard/property line is doing there), but if it’s something they can and want to do, that’s another option, too.
Last but not least, I changed the paint colors on both the top and bottom halves of the house, but she could totally leave the top half as-is if she likes the current color better or doesn’t want to paint it right away.
Anywhoobs- fun, fun project and I look forward to sharing another one with you soon! Happy weekend, y’all!

Wow! Layla! I thought her home was gorgeous to start with, but you have definitely upped the curb appeal game! So much detail! I hope she will do it all! You are soooo good!

Great work, interesting what a difference , the shutters and window box and additional roof over garage doors makes. And then your color change and landscaping really added to curb appeal!

How fun! Layla, you rock!

The color choices and the changes to the front really makes a huge difference. The house went from boring colors to add a wow factor. Love the changes and makes you want to move right in. With those changes, I bet the home value goes up too! Lovely house before to a show stopper, warm and inviting home.

Layla,
I thoroughly enjoy these Pick My Presto posts! I feel like I’m fairly decent at doing this, and then I see what you come up with and realize there is room for growth (a good thing!) in my design talents. Your posts challenge me to look at details often overlooked that offer big impact. Thanks for sharing!

Love what you did, Layla. I wouldn’t have thought to paint the lower portion a different color but I love it. And the garage details are huge in adding to the curb appeal.
Layla
Thank you, friend! 😀
