“…and of all the things I look forward to most in this life, falling in love with you is at the top of my list.”
-Tyler Kent White
We got home around 2:30 on Friday, and after a quick scan of the rooms on the first floor, Steevenson wanted to see his chanm (room). The three of us entered with our arms around each other, and he was so excited to discover a small bin full of wrapped presents in the corner. “Oh! Pou Steevenson?“, he excitedly asked. “Wi! Pou Steevenson!“, we answered.
One of the gifts had a bag of balloons in it, and he promptly decided that we (Daddy) should blow all of them up. 😉
I snapped those photos the next morning, after he had picked out his first outfit. He gets very excited about having his very own rad (clothes) and is super passionate about picking out every single piece- undies, soulye (shoes) and chapo (hat) included!
He also love, love, looooooves Bob the Builder. Or “Bob de Bil-dare“, as he calls him. 🙂
And let’s not forget “Madam Wendy” and “Mesye Leo“…or his favorite tool-he-doesn’t-have-yet: a voltmeter. If you heard him say it in his little French/Kreyol accent you would likely want one too. 😉

We, as audience, have been waiting for so long to see these photos! I can’t even imagine how long it’s been for you! Congratulations again!
Gloria
So true, Iryna! You said it perfectly!! 🙂 And Steevenson is one lucky boy, with not only his lovely room and all of the toys but, more importantly, with the LOVE. 🙂
Gloria
p.s. I wonder how long it will take him to answer to being called Sonny or Sweet P???!!!! LOL! I’d like to hear THAT story from Layla! 😉
Layla
Oh, I don’t know about that, Gloria. We are still calling him Steevenson because that’s what he’s used to. 🙂
Rebecca
WONDERFUL!!! So glad to finally see your family together and at home!
Leslie
Sweet, sweet family. Looking forward to seeing how he likes Max and Kitkat.
And at the risk of looking like one of those people (really, I’m NOT), I share the following out of love….you can google it too.
“Many parents are surprised to find out that a leading cause of childhood death is choking from balloons. The danger lies in the balloon taking the shape of the child’s windpipe or airway and not moving through as a solid object would. Children up through age 8 are at risk, so keep a close eye on those party balloons. Put uninflated or popped balloons far out of children’s reach. You may want to avoid latex rubber balloons altogether and use mylar balloons instead — they won’t deflate or pop as easily as latex balloons, so they are less of a hazard.”
From Good Kids, Bad Habits: The RealAge Guide to Raising Healthy Children by Jennifer Trachtenberg.

Hi Leslie,
My name is Yvonne and I just wanted to thank you for the information on latex balloons – I never purchased them when I had small children but was going to purchase some for my great niece – I will definitely stick with Mylar balloons again thanks for the tip!!
Karlene
Those are great photos! His enthusiasm continues to just bubble out of him! Thank you sharing !
Kristen
Oh. My. Stars. That sweet boy’s joy is enough to live on for a week! 🙂 Thank you for your candidness and letting us all follow along on this crazy ride! I can’t believe you have a whole lifetime of rides left with that precious face! And that last picture in his tool belt and hard hat?! I know you’re so in love and I’m so happy for ya’ll! I’ve just been praying from afar for your sweet family to bring that missing piece home. So grateful for God’s provision and timing-it’s all ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!

I hope you both enjoy every silly, serious, fun, adorable, loving, challenging, wonderful moment of parenthood. Congratulations.

I could read about your little fellow all day long! His photos are so adorable and he brings back so many happy memories of my boys when they were this age. We loved Bob the Builder too 🙂

Heavenly!
What does the cat think of this new bundle of energy?
Is Steevenson overwhelmed at all? I assume the US in general, and having his own home and bed room may be a lot to absorb.
Belinda
I yippeed at your new post. I checked every day in hopes of an update! Im so happy for all of you, your baby is mui adorable!:)
I cant wait to hear more and send many hugs and prayers your way. Xoxo
Dianne
Tell me how he likes the cat and dog? Are they adjusting well? He is precious!
Layla
Hi, Dianne! He’s not a fan of the cat, and he hasn’t met the (extremely loud) dog yet. Unfortunately Max isn’t really a fan a kids either, so he’s staying with a dog-sitter until Steevenson is used to our house. Most folks don’t have pets in Haiti, and he hasn’t really spent much time with animals of any kind, so I imagine they’re pretty scary to him right now.
Sunny
The room that stood empty and yet waiting..is now full..as are your hearts and ours.
YAyyyyyy!
AnnW
So happy for you. Skip the design blog, just show us pictures of Stevenson!

I love this for all of you! I’m such a book nerd, and noticed you have Pete the cat loves his white shoes. If you go online to Harper Collins they have videos of Pete the cat and also a read along where they sing the song in the book. I swear I don’t work for them. Lol
