Well, Kevin and I moved our (tiny!) collection of screen printing equipment into our very first commercial space this week.
And when I say “space”, I mean: one small corner of a gigantic, unused/unfinished room on the first floor of our friend Golson’s high-rise building. 😉
It’s nothing fancy, and it may only available ’til the end of the year, but it will definitely do the trick while we continue to learn how to print our designs, and we are so grateful Golson was up for renting out a little piece of his place while we experiment, grow, take risks, break rules, make mistakes and have fun!!
Are you trying something new this year, too? I’d love to hear about your adventures in creativity in the comment section! 😀

Happy for you! I READ your blog every single time you pop up in my inbox! But I was patiently waiting to pick up the latest country cottage issue??I’ve been telling EVERYONE that’s Kevin & Layla… That’s their house I read their blog?

Ok. So my fun exciting new love is…drumroll please… I am working in a barn (very similar to what you all are building) in the upstairs wood shop and we repurpose furniture ? They build custom farm tables ( I mean SWOOOONN big time) and all kinds of other little tables! I am painting (milk paint SO fun) everything! From furniture to reupholstered of chairs to baskets! I feel like fixer upper! It’s so fun and when they open for sales it’s hard to take… You WANT everything, but you also go ” ummm I made that” SO much fun creating ???
So sorry for the novel, thanks for reading Layla☺️
Sincerely,
Lisa ?☮?

A few years ago, our family faced a traumatic experience involving one of our daughters that forced me to quit my job and come home to care for her. I have spent the majority of my adult life in front if people as a worship leader and itinerate minister, so when the lights went out and somebody turned off the mic, I didn’t know how to find God in the silence. But He is so kind. He took the time I had and turned the silence into a new method of worship: He taught me how to paint using watercolors. I was really mad at first–I was supposed to be a singer!! But He knew better and now I have been accepted into an arts program through our state that teaches business in art and I am on a new kind of journey that I hope will be a blessing to my family. I’m just getting started, so I don’t have a website yet, but you can check out my work on FaceBook by searching “White House Old Tree.” It cannot be a coincidence that the first characteristic of God’s nature that He introcuces us to is creativity. It is Divine.
Thank you for sharing this message with us, Kelly. I was so moved by it, and I will be lifting up a prayer for you and your family as soon as I’m finished typing this response.
Also, I am positively SMITTEN with your watercolor paintings on Facebook. I literally gasped when the one title “Summer Day” popped up!
Your art is beautiful, Kelly! I’m very interested in your cow picture. I’ll message you on Facebook about possibly buying it. Blessings, Karen from Oregon
Wowza!!! Thanks so much for taking a gander at my FB page! I was so tickled to see some new faces and appreciate your very kind comments–your support means so very much to me.
Kelly
God is Great and if we will let him lead us we never know what he has in store for us. God may have bigger plans for you than your singing. You may also find a way to use your art and singing together or both apart. I will pray for your business and am praying Layla & Kevin, also. Hope all is going well with your child, also.
Linda, thank you. I can always use prayer support–so kind of you. God is never predictable, is He? I believe it is that very unpredictability that keeps relationship with Him viable–a living, breathing, constantly-changing thing. He never goes on “pause” and He is full of surprises that, in the end, work FOR us! He’s a good Dad. ❤️
Oh, wow! Congratulations on your new venture! I’m off on a venture myself by working to expand my blog at http://www.thewritesteph.com!
I often use your blog as an example of what I would like to accomplish in my future blog.
I also live in Alabama–near Huntsville, and I really have enjoyed checking out your decorating ideas, especially now that we’ve moved into a new, but rather undescriptive home. I’ll looking to add a little character to our place, so I’m sure that I’ll be coming to your site often.
May God continue to bless you and your sweet family.
Sincerely,
Stephanie
