“I love every part of you, every thought and word…
the entire complex, fascinating bundle of all the things you are.
I love all the seasons of you, the way you are now,
the thought of how much more beautiful you’ll be in the decades to come.
I love you for being the answer to every question my heart could ask.”

Kevin and IΒ celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary on Wednesday! π
We were reeeeeally hoping to be taking our secondΒ (bonding) trip to Haiti this week/weekend, but since we haven’t even been officially invited (by IBESR) to make our firstΒ (socialization) trip down there yet, we decided to just stick close to home instead. It was a fun little “staycation” and I thought I’d save some of my favorite parts of it here today. π
HeΒ surprised me with a sweet little crossΒ first thing…and we pulled over for our favorite clouds on our way to breakfast. (A fire ant got me while I was taking the pic on the right- ouch!)
We both woke up cravingΒ french toast, so we thought we’d try out the new (to us) IHOP. My toast came topped with strawberries and whipped cream, and Kevin’s were covered in cinnamon sauce and bananas. The food was delicious, but we had a quite a few unwanted guests buzzing around our booth, so Kevin nicknamed it FLY-HOP. π
After breakfast, we decided to swing by our first home. (Maybe there would be fewer insects there? LOL) We got married there in 2004, and thought it would be fun to see it again, exactly ten years later. Gosh did we love that place. I didn’t realize how much I missed it until we pulled up to the curb. Kevin was hesitant to trespass, but I managed to talk him into posing for a quick pic in the front yard.
It’s crooked (Think: our DSLR camera, on timer-mode, propped up on Kevin’s wallet on the hood of our car),Β but I’m so glad we took the time to capture that shot!Β
A woman from across the street saw us struggling to get a straight shotΒ and said, “Do y’all want me to help take your picture? I’m a professional photographer and the people that live there are really sweet.”
#GodWink π
That mint green metal fence was one of my favorite (original) parts of the house. There’s a great big courtyard on the other side of it, and we had so many good times with friends and family (and teeny-tiny Max) back there!
After that, we drove by the house we *almost* bought in 2007…about six months before I started this blog.
We both wondered how different life would be if we had moved in there instead! π
We spent the rest afternoon having funΒ in our new neighborhood…
…and then weΒ split a little bit of our favorite fried chicken for supper, so that we’d have room for what we really wanted to fill up on that night! #MoviePopcorn
I’m thankful for suchΒ a sweet day with thatΒ precious man of mine. Can’t wait to see him as a Daddy in decade #2! π
PS- Kev’s turning 40 on Saturday, soΒ all of hisΒ ShootFlyShoot.comΒ classes are 40% off from now til Sunday, June 29th at 10pm.Β Β Click the banner below for more info! π

HAPPY 10TH TO THE PALMERS! LOVED that photo the “professional photog” took of Y’All in front of your former house! (loved the crooked one too, taken with Kev’s tripod but you can’t deny that the friendly neighbor/professional photog did a real good job!). OH, my hubby is a Photojournalist for The Los Angeles Times here in good old So California & the nickname, among all the pros, for “photographer” is “photog”, so that’s where THAT comes from! So, was that the house you moved from, when you bought your current home? Or was there another house you guys lived in, in between? Just wondering, as the house in the crooked & prof photos doesn’t look like the house that you did all your blogs on, with all the projects & home improvements you did, right up until you moved to the NEW house you live in TODAY. I am SO CONFUSED! Plus, Happy 4oth to Kevin!!! And, just how bad does a FIRE ANT bite feel?? We don’t have them here in So California, at least I don’t THINK we do . I thought they were a Southern “thing”. Have heard their bite is a real big Owie!! I grew up in So CA with what we called “Red Ants” – I don’t know what kind they were technically but they were about 4X as big as the typical tiny black “grease” ants EVERYONE gets here & they were MEAN & somewhat aggressive too! And when they bit you? YOU KNEW YOU HAD BEEN BITTEN! NOT like a bee or a hornet sting but it got your attention, for sure! Very painful, at least to a child anyway. I was never bitten much past about age 12 or so (I got SMART). But I can still remember that sharp, kind of long lasting sting quite well! OUCH! Bye Y’All & HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
Jane
Happy Anniversary Guys!!!
I loved this “look back” at your first house. How romantic!
BTW, What is the tattoo on hubby’s arm?

Happy Anniversary! What a sweet day spent together! Although I know your journey to parenthood has been a long one, I wonder how much closer to my husband I would feel if it were just him and me for the last ten years. That has probably helped you two to build a bond so strong that it will make you an even better parent team when your sweet boy finally comes home to you! Thanks for sharing your precious moments. XO
Layla
Thank you, Christy! It took us a while to get to a point where we both felt ready to dive into parenthood, but we’re excited to get the party started now that we’re “adults”- LOL! π
