Did you have a sweet Valentine’s Day?
My baby crawled on top of me first thing, as usual, and after a little snuggle time, I told him to look at the dresser. There was a white gift bag with
For Kevin: sweet nothings tucked inside an envelope and a heart-shaped box of Kit-Kats. For
“Daddy!“, he exclaimed as he grabbed the bag by its rope handles and bolted out the bedroom door. “Daddy!“, he said again as he made his way down the stairs. I threw on my worn-out slippers and hurried after him. I didn’t want to miss his reaction. Not the one connected to his Valentine treats; the one connected his enthusiasm about sharing that moment with his Daddy. “Daddy!“, he said again before he found Kevin coming in through the back door. And here’s the thing: I didn’t know he loved peaches.
A couple of weeks ago, he came home after a nighttime church activity for kids and didn’t know what to call the “yummiest food EVER” that they had served with the pizza that night. He had never seen a canned peach, so he didn’t know even know it was a fruit.
The following week, Kevin chaperoned at the same nighttime church event and when he and
Y’all, the candy and cards are so much fun, but discovering new things about my seven-year-old son? Priceless. 🙂

Adorable! Your story reminded me of our message from church last week. It was on John 1:29-50. I won’t do it justice but the pastor talked about encounters with Jesus that were so amazing that the disciples couldn’t help but go and tell others. He shared this quote from CS Lewis: “I think we delight to praise what we enjoy because the praise not merely expresses but completes the enjoyment; it is its appointed consummation.” Steevenson’s joy could not be complete until he shared it with those he loves the most! So sweet!
