New Doorway Trim

Sep 25, 2008 By Layla

Finally got around to adding the trim to the doorway we decided to take a reciprocating saw to a few months ago…

Isn’t it funny what a little trim will do? What a tedious, “un-fun” way to totally finish off the look of a room.

Here are some more shots of the trim, and beadboard, we added to the space to give it more cottage appeal:

I’ve been slowly piecing together frames for the picture ledge. Now I just need to get the four black and white prints ordered.

I thought I’d see what the room looked like with my flea-market bench under the window. I still haven’t purchased the fabric to make curtains yet, so excuse the naked window…

Just for fun, I threw some accessories together to make my table look a little prettier for these pictures…

Layla, girl! I really love all these new photos & the styling efforts on the table are WOW! You're so right about trimwork, can take a house from plain to special. Y'all are really taking that cottage house up several notches.

I can't wait to hear more news from you when we finally get to meet up for shopping, esp. that little tidbit about BHG! We are gonna have a blast.

Ohhh, I can’t believe you are not a decorating / designing for a living! You could totally be a stylist for magazines and catalogs as well. I LOVE every photo and you have *such* a knack for pulling everything together. Everything is just lovely and so clean and fresh! I long for the day that we can add beadboard, hehe! Keep up that awesome work..I’m always awaiting your next post!

Did you add your blog to the Martha Blog yet? She’s doing an upcoming post on bloggers and will be featuring some…you should definitely put your name in the hat!

Ooooh Looks Gaw-jus!! So clean and fresh!

Thought: How about putting your own pics in those frames rather than ordering prints?

    Linda-

Oops…I should have said this in the post- I am ordering prints of pictures that Kevin took of my nieces and nephews for the frames. 🙂

Just an idea for your frames. My daughter lives out in the country. And for her home, she took black and white snapshots of the winding roads, etc. She framed them all the same, grouped them together. And it is just beautiful! Just what I thought of when I saw your empty frames.

Wow Layla – it all looks so crisp and beautiful (and so not trampled on by kiddoes – can you tell I’m in a “crazy with my kids” phase?)

You really do have an amazing ability to transform. It is very inspiring.

I hope you feel better soon.
