Y’all know about my friend Lucy’s jewelry, right?
For those that don’t, she makes her creations from architectural salvage and vintage jewelry and I am just crazy about the stuff!
She sent me this necklace recently, and I literally gasped when I first saw it:
Ya see that strand of cream & gold vintage leaves that make up the right side of the chain? My Grandma Evelyn had a necklace just like that, and man does it makes me smile every time I see it. 🙂

I remember playing with my Nana’s gaudy bangles, pins and necklaces as a child. I am forever searching for vintage pieces which remind me of them! I’m so sad that she “trashed” them all and I can’t share them with my daughter. I remember them being really awesome, colorful and unique. My gal would absolutely adore them, I’m sure.

My first Mother’s Day since my son was born. He was named after his grandpa who died a few months before his birth. Life is funny. Just when you say goodbye to someone, you look in the eyes of a new baby and realize that the other person is still with you.
Love all the sweet things my two kiddos have done for me each Mother’s Day… Homemade cards and heartfelt words!
I recently heard a special little piece about mom’s the other day on my local radio station… it went something like this:
A job was posted online welcoming applicants with strong communication skills, flexible schedules, experience in sewing, cooking, cleaning, driving, etc. The job description didn’t give a title to said position. Once applicants were selected for phone interviews the hiring manager asked them a series of questions such as during the Holiday season business will grow so they’ll need more hands on deck during that time, there is a good chance they won’t have any vacation, sick days… or pay for that matter.
The applicants were baffled that someone thought a normal person would take such a job! When they asked what the job was, the hiring manager gave an astonishing percentage of people already holding this title…. mothers.
This made me smile and of course think of my mama. I have yet to become a mother, but I hope that when I do, I’m half the mom she is to this day. Thank you mom! Loves!

Not only was I blessed to have four wonderful children, but now they have blessed me with nine grandchildren.
There is no greater feeling than finding out you’re going to be a mother for the first time. You’re constantly reminded of how loved and special you are to that little person when only your kiss can heal a boo-boo or turn the bad into good just by a simple gesture like a hug or snuggle. So excited for when you get to bring Sweet P home, Layla. You’ll know exactly what I’m talking about, it’s a feeling like no other. You’ll never forget it and you’ll carry it around with you like an invisible cloak, always feeling it’s warmth. <3

I have a very special birthday! I was born on my Moms birthday! What a special day. My Mom always says I was her best gift ever! We usually share this day with Mothers Day, May 11th…extra special!!!!
It has been almost two months since my mom went from living here on this earth to living with Jesus. It was bittersweet as she suffered with Alzheimer, We miss her, but know that her life is one that is now completely healed and full of awe.
I never cease to be amazed by the wonderful moms I have witnessed in all the phases of my life – first the examples set by my own mom, then the overwhelming magical love I felt when I became a mom myself, and now in a new generation of women who were little girls not so long ago and now have become mommas themselves. Layla, your magical time is close and it will be the best time of your life!

I LOVE these! So lovely! Kinda reminds me of how much i loved playing dress up in my mom’s jewelry and makeup when i was little. Poor mom probably had to rearrange her closet weekly becuase of me! I love seeing my niece play dress up now. My sister is such a wonderful mother too- warms my heart to see them together.

I remember my mom wearing the prettiest hats on Mother’s Day and when we were little she sewed us all matching dresses. Fun memories.
This Mother’s Day I’m grateful for all the moms I know who work so tirelessly loving on their kids! And my prayers are for all those mommas still waiting on their little ones!
My fondest memory of my mother…she would make sweet potato pies and sell them to folks for Thanksgiving. Then take the money and on Black Friday shop-til-she-dropped for toys. Then during the holidays she would have a big Christmas party for kids in the community and giveaway all of the toys! A true angel.

My mom was in the delivery room with us when our daughter was born. As I was being moved to another room, I told my mom, “If I am half the mom you are to me, she will be just fine.” I love my mom. She is best!!!!

Being a mom is the most wonderful and challenging job there ever will be. I thank you mom everyday for doing such a wonderful job with me and my sisters! I thank God every day for letting me have my own 2 to raise and I know you being a mom, Layla, will be just what you and Kevin need to make your lives full (and busy, and emotional, etc. etc.). It’s been so fun seeing your journey and i can’t wait for that final “reveal”!

Just celebrated my mothers 91st birthday. 🙂
This year, for the first time in 55 years, I will not have a mom to celebrate. My mother passed away many years ago. My mother-in-law passed away in June, 2013. I never had the opportunity to be a mom. Here’s to all of you out there who still have someone to honor. Cherish them!
Both my mom and grandma are big on red. They tend to go towards that color for any accent piece.
