Well, I was hoping to be over this cold by now, but not only is it still completely rockin’ my world- I woke up with pink eye yesterday, too. And by pink “eye”, I mean pink eyes. Sheesh! Anywho, I’ve been trying my hardest to take it easy. Resting, reading…all that good stuff. Yesterday, I e-read Handmade Walls, by our local friends, Ashley and Jamin Mills…
I knew those two were creative…

…but man it was cool to see how they break down the methods to their magnificence, step-by-step style!
Their e-book walked me through the creation of 22 different projects. Each of them varied slightly in cost-to-make and level of difficulty, and each of them had it’s own nifty name. One of my favorites is the Stanley. Here’s a sneak peek…

And here’s a sneak peek at some of the other goodies included in their book:

When I was finished reading it, I texted Ashley to see if I could purchase another copy to give away here today. She said yes (yay!), so if you’d like to enter for a chance to win, just leave a comment on this blog post (email subscribers will need to visit TheLetteredCottage.net to enter), and I’ll randomly select a winner at 10pm (CST) on Sunday night. (May 12, 2013)
Good luck and happy weekend!

PS- Alabama peeps: Ashley and Jamin are having a yard sale on May 18th!

This would be a perfect mother’s day gift for me!
It’s Mother’s Day, a day to honor all mommies both here and no longer with us. My mom is a force to say the least. My dad passed when we were young, and to say that she picked us (and herself) back up is not touching the tip of the iceberg when describing her independent spirit. She has taught me so much, and I cannot wait to share all of her teachings with my family (something my husband and I are thinking about). Most of all, she taught me things that have really helped me out over the years; how to properly use every kitchen utensil in the house (watch out Ina, I love to cook!), how to change a tire on my car (this I can do), bought me my first toolbox, teaching me how to use (and the name) of every tool in it, and always, always made sure I was able to do anything I wanted on my own. This has came in handy when restoring my home with my husband. I think of her every time I start a project and can say to myself (you can do this). So, this book, is an inspiration to many DIY-ers such as myself, and to all of the inspiring women we celebrate today on Mother’s Day. Thank you for letting me share!
Oh what fun, I enjoy adding paint to photo frames…I play around with different paint patinas. I would love to win!
