“Inside a barn is a whole universe, with its own time zone and climate and ecosystem, a shadowy world of swirling dust illuminated in tiger stripes by light shining through the cracks between the boards. Old leather tack, lengths of chain, rope, and baling twine dangled from nails and rafters and draped over stall railings. Generations of pocketknives lay lost in the layers of detritus on the floor.”
―Carolyn Jourdan
Man, does that wording take me straight back my barn days! My brother and I spent many a summer day up in the hay loft, building forts out of bales, naming new kittens (so many kittens!) and steering clear of the feisty rooster in the barnyard below.
Such fond memories. *sigh*
Guess that’s why I’m still gaga for anything galvanized. It takes me straight back to my barn days, too.

And chicken people, you know they take me straight back to the coop! 😀
I can still see baby chicks and brown eggs keeping warm underneath galvanized pendants all winter long in Minne”snow”ta.
Totally different story down here in sweet home Alabama. My Weather Channel app says it “feels like” 102° here in Pike Road this afternoon. The kind of day where you can feel the air wishing it was water. 😉
It’s in the 90’s in Fl. Feels like you could swim through the air.
Love love love!
So pretty!
Did you have these hard wired or are they just decorative?
I just enjoy you so much. “Wishing it was water.” We’re getting a break from the humidity here in Maryland and after living in New Orleans, I’m always so amazed to walk out on my porch and not instantly feel like I need a shower. Thanks for being you and sharing your life with us.
I immediately went back to summers at my Grandmothers’ house on the farm…. in south Georgia…. where the huge tobacco barn was filled to overflow with layers of tobacco hanging in the rafters…. and the small barn (to me it was a barn… filled with farm equipment and tools… ) and the animals… ohhhh the animals!!! Fresh garden vegetables on the table… WOW… LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!! Thank you for sharing Layla…. and as for the weather…. I’m in Florida… that should say it all!!!! lolol…. Blessings
I love the sconces and it is 52 degrees in MN this morning 🙂 Happy Friday!
52 sounds delightful, Jody! Happy Friday to you too! XO
Thankfully in Minne”snow”ta today we have a sunny upper 70’s day! I do enjoy you style!
Nothing like a Minnesota summer!!! 😀 I really need to get back there soon- thanks for the motivation, Jenn! XO

Me too, Mattie! 😀
You could enjoy the “dry heat” of Arizona. It’s supposed to be 114 today.
LOVE! These little pendants are the perfect. 🙂
Love the lights and your barn tales ?
These are great — they tread the line between farm-y and elegance.
The kind of day where you can feel the air wishing it was water. Love that line best. It took me right to a memory that I’d not had words for. Thank you!
What sweet memories! And, galvanized light fixture is gorgeous!!!
These pendant lights are so precious I love them, you style is such an inspiration to me as my personal style has grown to be similar to yours!
Thanks for inspiring me

“The kind of day where you can feel the air wishing it was water.” I love that. My senses kind of came alive when I read that line.
